## About ACID Pro
Digital audio & video software for professionals, amateurs, and enthusiasts.

## ACID Pro Reviews
 ### 1. I've used Acid Pro since version 3.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 11, 2021

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Familiarity, ease of user interface. When I first started using it, I solely mixed and cut up my own samples. Now I use it is a full DAW to compose and produce, with VST and stereo recording.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Some bugs have been persistent in multiple versions. VST explorer can become overwhelming if you aren't careful.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because of its ease of use, I use it as a teaching tool to familiarize students with DAW philosophy and workflow.

 ### 2. Acid Pro the go to DAW for starting out or professionals alike

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 15, 2020

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Acid Pro is my DAW.
It offers lots of versatility within the software, example beat chopper, or how easy to insert soft synth VST.
Auto save and direct connection to internet library make it the most complete software.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Haven’t found any downsides to Acid Pro, interface could be bit more glitzy if you like that. Possibly community login to connect with other artists directly. or sync with selected playlists or music library’s .

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

If you need a DAW software that is simple to use but powerful in results. Acid Pro in my opinion reaches the highest. Simple to use, has all the features of other DAWs that are available, cost effective too.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Acid Pro is my only DAW
It has earned it’s worth in my opinion as it has enabled me to sign with a major recording producing company.
I now make royalties from using Acid Pro, it is my favoured DAW

 ### 3. Great software for audio creation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Francisco C. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2020

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Whenever I need to create a mix of sounds for a video that is going to be seen by the whole company or a large group this is my main tool for the job since it is really intuitive so I can try many prerecorded beats and mix them together and when I need direct feedback I can ask for advice and ask which combination sounds better and fits the theme of the video.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

It makes a lot of sense and it is intuitive but when you need to edit something that sounds just right it sometimes it doesn't cut it so I first draft the sound in acid and then do a pass in Audition

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

It is cheap enough so an amateur can pay it and potent enough that profesional grade sound can come out of it.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating and mixing sounds that fill silences and changes of scenarios in videos

 ### 4. Acid Pro makes it easy to compose your own beats

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tom S. | Digital Marketing Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 20, 2020

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Its a simple interface, timeline, and lots of different helpful panels to get you off to a running start. The program is intuitive enough for beginners but also has enough depth for a more seasoned professional to get the results they desire.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

It should support more different types of file import. It can be a pain when trying to import sounds only to find they are not supported by the program and then you have to convert them in something else before you can use it.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

When considering this product understand that this is more of a package to compose loops and beats, you may want to consider also buying Sony SoundForge as its a great companion product to this.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In marketing its important to have content that differs from the competition and this program allows me to compose short audio clips that I can use in my campaigns that are totally unique.

 ### 5. Cannot meet my needs.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jesse N. | Buyer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2020

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

I have been using Acid since 2002. Love the ease in which I could import and chop mP3 and WAV files on previous versions.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Inability to import mp3 or WAV files on PC. Lack of assistance from technical support.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

Do not buy if you are running windows and would like to be able to import Mp3s and WAV files.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm attempting to sample songs and make beats.

 ### 6. THE best digital audio workstation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Y. S. | Video Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2019

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

In the past two decades, Acid Pro has proven to me that it is the single best music production software out there. Sure, it's not the best known name in the field, but nevertheless it's solid, dependable, very easy to use, very versatile and allows you to focus on the music.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Unfortunately, Acid hasn't received to much support since version 7, but was recently redone from ground up by Magix as ACID 9.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

A really dependable, powerful and easy to use DAW, but stay away from version 9 until they fix certain major bugs. Previously, Acid Pro was produced by Sony but now with Magix taking over, I have my doubts about the direction of Acid's development. Stick to versions 7 or 8, although they do not yet support 64 bit VSTs like version 9 does.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I produce music with Acid.

 ### 7. The best audio editor

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Halley A. | Event Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2019

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Makes it really easy to combine several audio tracks with the exact volume needed, insert audio tracks, edit with as much granularity as needed.

It's really easy to add audio effects in the right moments and turn down the volume if for any reason the audio of the recorded video is unexpectedly high or has an unpleasant sound and instead add a pause, a transition or if it's a high-value part replace it with a compatible sound or recreate it to have a better experience.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

The interface is a little bit ugly, the RAM usage is a little on the high side

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

Run this in a computer with a good amount of ram.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing audio content to use in my videos.

 ### 8. Multifunctional audio editor and high-quality virtual studio.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dmitriy A. | Logistics specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 06, 2019

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Typically, slicing a sample produces explicit artifacts, such as clicks, etc., but in acid prо this is automatically eliminated.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Internal resources were not particularly impressive, especially the implementation of the equalization line (so primitive and rude in execution).

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Acid is functional, but also specific, it can work as an addition and can be used from beginning to end in creating tracks of any style and direction.

 ### 9. Music production, the professional way

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2019

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

It is software from a well known firm, Magix. Use it to produce music for your site or program with endless possibilities. A lot of instruments are waiting to be used.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

There is a learning curve, to make it work you need some time to get used to the program.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

If you have use for it, buy the package, The pro version 9 is relatively cheap to start with.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Acid pro is helping to get an good end result. Better than without it. If you need it it is great.

 ### 10. Acid Pro can work for beginners to advanced audio projects

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick K. | Business Development and Marketing Representative, Medical Devices, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2018

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Acid itself has been around for a very long time which means it is not only very stable but it's also had plenty of time to tweek and perfect numerous features. As far as DAWs go there isn't that steep of a learning curve. If you're new to sound editing/production it's pretty easy to jump right in. It also a features a myriad of built in services and compatible with plenty of third party plugins.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

The interface can take some getting used to, especially if you're making the jump from some of the other more intuitive DAWs. That's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but it does throw off some on the first few uses.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

I would recommend Aci Pro as a solid workhorse for anyone in the audio industry with the only caveat being aspiring producers as it may not have as many features you would want strictly for music production as your only DAW. If you're needing a DAW to manage recording of events, pull samples, clean up audio, or anything from a more technical engineering side of things then Acid Pro will make you very happ!

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Acid is a must have for doing clean, simple edits or any type of sampling. Being able to quickly upload almost any file type and then export it in almost any file type is the absolute best feature for me. On top of that, it's quite good for recording simple audio jobs too.

 ### 11. Exceptional audio creation for use on anything

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew M. | Aircraft Mechanic, Defense & Space, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2018

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

Having the ability to use just about any piece of sound from making the sound yourself to an audio clip taken from elsewhere. Modifying audio pieces and extracting specific sounds to create a unique and custom piece of work.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

It took a little while to get some of the more advanced features down. On the job training is not as recommended as a class.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Creating custom audio for videos that have been created as well as for individuals creating their own songs.

 ### 12. Quick and Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Music | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2018

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

The customization at the tip of your hands to enhance, edit, and create music. This is one of my favorite audio editing software for recording and mixing for my business. The software is very easy to learn and comes with a bunch of pre-built effects. I especially like how you can layer different audio tracks and manage them separately.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Sometimes, the quality isn’t the best compared to other software like Pro Tools or Audacity. There have been times where the software completely crashed maybe because I had too many elements loaded in the software. Other than those two things, I’m very happy overall with the software.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

If you’re an amateur or a professional, this software is loaded with the tools to help you achieve your end result. Once you learn this software, you can learn other similar software’s that Sony offers like Vegas. Highly recommend this.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Because of how quickly I’m able to edit and/or create music, I save a lot of time. Everything about the software is quick and easy, just remember to save every 10 – 15 minutes. The layering of the tracks is of my favorite features. Once you work with this software for a while, you will only get better.

 ### 13. ACID has always been there when I need it

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paul M. | Freelance Graphic and Web Designer, Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 15, 2017

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

It's been my go to DAW for tracking instruments & vocals since 2003. I've used it with several USB mixers & even tracked directly into my old computer's microphone jack without any problems. The user interface is simple & intuitive, but there are a lot of advanced capabilities available for someone working with loops or MIDI editing. I've been able to record entire albums with 8 drum mics on separate tracks & ACID Pro didn't give me any problems throughout the process. The Groovemapping makes it easy to insert loops & keep everything in sync between all of your tracks.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

Some plug-ins don't play very well with ACID Pro & there are some plug-ins that I can barely use at all without it slowing down or crashing. I'm not sure if it has specific problems with the way certain companies build their VST Plugins, but just like any other program, it seems to get along with some better than others. I definitely try to demo plugins before I buy them, in case they won't load at all in ACID Pro. In the past I've had to get creative with busses & made stems out of groups of tracks in an attempt to alleviate some of the issues, but nowadays I don't really use ACID Pro for mixing.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

It's a simple & effective DAW that won't break the bank. I use it mainly for instrument & vocal recording, but it's even better for someone that's looking to use loops & MIDI editing.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I started using ACID Pro in 2003 to record guitar & bass tracks using a simple US-122 TASCAM mixer with USB. After several failed attempts to use other recording programs, I've found myself coming back to ACID Pro over the years & still use it for all of my recording needs. It's always been more reliable than other DAWS I've used & it's so straightforward that I can just plug-in & play at any time.

 ### 14. Best bang for your buck

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase W. | Developer, IT, Market Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2016

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

At a quarter of the price it costs to purchase Pro Tools, Acid Pro is definitely my recommended multi-track recording and mixing software for novice and intermediate artists and multimedia producers. The software is very easy to learn and intuitive to use.

Special effects plugin support is great and very extendable. I've also found the the out-of-the-box effects for managing things like EQ, noise reduction, reverb, etc. - "the basics" - are better in Acid Pro than in other suites, like Adobe's.

But the thing I like most about Acid Pro are the arrangement tools, which make tweaking multiple tracks at the same time very easy. The media manager and just the way each track's display can be controlled are also very nice features.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

In comparison to more professional tools, like Pro Tools, Acid Pro just doesn't feel as solid sometimes. The recording interface can sometimes run into issues where it just stops working - and that's the last thing you want when doing a live recording. The beatmapper and chopper work pretty well, but not great.

The interface can also feel very crowded at times, with little knobs and buttons for everything everywhere. I'd chalk that up to the fact that the software has a small learning curve, putting everything you need directly in front of you.

I've also run into issues with the ecosystem, in general. For example, if I create a project in one version of the software, then try to run the same project in a new version of the software, not everything - like the effects, track placements, etc. - translates accurately. Same goes for bringing in audio from Acid Pro to other software in the suite, like Vegas Pro. The integration between software isn't as strong in Sony's suite as it is in others.

**Recommendations to others considering ACID Pro:**

If you're a hobbyist or novice audio editor, Acid Pro is a great choice. If you're already familiar with other software in the Sony creative suite, you'll hit the ground running with Acid Pro.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Acid Pro I can produce an audio mix very quickly. Everything is quick and easy to do, from editing down a single track to layering effects over an entire mix. Whenever I'm up against a tight deadline, or just need to slap something together as a prototype, I'll choose Acid Pro.

 ### 15. Best Loop Sequencer on the Market

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2016

**What do you like best about ACID Pro?**

ACID Pro is the easiest to use loop sequencer on the market. Imported loops are set to a master project tempo, allowing compositions to be built in minutes. The Input busses and real-time rendering are a great feature for those who want to add live instrumentation to looped bedtracks.

**What do you dislike about ACID Pro?**

The biggest drawback with ACID Pro is that it is not available for Mac. Built-in wave editing would also be a nice feature, but it integrates well with Sound Forge.

**What problems is ACID Pro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ACID Pro is great for quickly assembling music for commercials that would otherwise have to purchased from a stock provider.
