**Reviewed by:** Mohamed A. | Lecturer , Education Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

The leading solution for audio editing with solid toolset and features, not found on the audio-like platforms. The all-round audio studio to create royalty-free sound of all formats. **What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

It is really difficult to find a missing feature with SoundForge, mainly Pro version. Yet, it is worth landing on for professionals. It needs a sturdy system, the more RAM chips or rates the better.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It did help me convert large files into small MP3 ones to suit the length I use in my listening classes. SoundForge resolves the problem of poor microphones, noise and helps add stunning effects, background music, easily, making your content royalty-free.

It was easy to get started with Sound Forge. It has most of the basic features you need to record and edit.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Missing some of the advanced features some of the other audio editing software have.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Sound Forge to edit several radio broadcasts. I found it very fast and easy to make edits, record extras or over voices. It has many of the exporting option and formats I needed.

  ### 3. Great for any audio liberation archivist

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** erick z. | Operator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

That it is easy to use for editing sound on my personal projects like field recording, etc.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The price could be more affordable, but the product does last a long time.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use sound Forge when I want to go back and remaster field recordings that I have made of concerts.

  ### 4. Easy Audio Editing

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Goddard P. | Production Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

The interface is good and easy to understand

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

the plug in is so minum need more plug in for better experience

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Editing audio with more detail view

  ### 5. Review of SoundForge

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deepak M. | Communications Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

SoundForge is quite powerful and easy to use.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

It doesn't have many features to reduce noise or echo. Its sound gate feature is inadequate in my opinion.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sound Forge is an adequate recording and sound management software but it could do much more.

  ### 6. Overall, a good sound editing tool.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It's very user friendly and comes with some good plug-ins like Spectralayers Pro and Melodyne, in addition to many standard EFX plug-ins. I think for the price it's a decent buy.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Since MAGIX took the product over from Sony, there seems to be a never-ending amount of upgrades. It seems that they try selling you an upgrade several times a year. Sometimes it makes you feel like a cow being milked to death.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't had any problems with the software other than wishing I didn't spend $199.00 for an upgrade that really doesn't amount to much. It does what they say it does, and quite efficiently.

  ### 7. A lite but still handy version of Protools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fred J. | English Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Soundforge is lite, and installing it is easy. It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare the full software to use . Soundforge is a sound recorder, and I like the UI and the way It provides a wide range of options you can choose to edit your song; it is easy to cut/merge the track as well as the exporting is simple. The price is fair and reasonable alsoIt has a great support . I could buy it from AMAZON for 49$.Also they sent a VST pack for installing the some Add-ons such as normalizer and analyzer which later I could add more to it . The software works smooth and the effects are handy plus It allows you to save editable project in order to edit it later .

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

AS a recorder, I think this software needs more available and easy-set-up VST since It's really challenging to download and install the VSTs. It's not beginner-friendly that obvious you need to see a couple of tutorials to have a better.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

This software could be one the best choices for home reocrding. However, It s not beginner-friendly, but It wouldn't be so hard to learn the hints and tricks. You can buy the activston code on AMAZON from 49 and a hard copy for 59 $ .

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Soundforge helped me to record, edit and cut/ merge the audio tracks and be able to edit the mass tracks for having the same quality of mastering. It also had good integrity with the VSTs to experience beyond the default software and add-ons.It helped to store my projects in differnt format line by line in seperate folders in order to export and send them to the audio engineer and producers .

  ### 8. In my experience the most powerful sound-file editor ever.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bob H. | Jim Brickman Show - Executive Producer/Affiliate Relations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

I love the ease of getting surgical on a sound file. From zooming in to apply a filter to a plosive, to grabbing a syllable and stitching together umpteen copies and pitch-bending to the depths, to moving sounds from file to file, crossfading, and inserting all with the flick of a mouse.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

On occasion, I'll use a 3rd party plug-in that will allow me to preview the changes but will not write those changes to the file. These are using the VST 2 and VST 3 protocols. It appears to be on delay are reverb plugins from Soundtoys mostly.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The greatest problem Sound Forge solves for me is its ability to help salvage a great performance that may have an incidental noise, or a hum, or a plosive. Between the impulse-driven noise reduction tools all the way to the bundled spectral layers plug-ins, there are few audio mishaps you can't fix.

  ### 9. Sound Forge...robust but simple to use.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Doug S. | Sales Development Representative, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 28, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge has hit the mark with its latest release. With its streamlined approach, recording audio is quick and easy for VO and podcasts.

No need to dive deep into the software. From the dashboard you can make quick work of your audio project.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Once again in this release you cannot customize fades. It is particularly frustrating when placing voice-over over music. In earlier versions you could customize your fades. Wish they would bring it back.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

Sound Forge is intuitive and easy to use. It also offers robust features for the more advanced audio engineer. It is a stable platform and virtually bullet proof.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I produce all of my pod-casts in Sound Forge, plus freelance voice over projects.

  ### 10. Sound Forge is the Best for All of Your Audio Editing Needs

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound forge is very easy to use, and the help content will take you through all the necessary steps to accomplish your audio editing goals.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

While the user interface is very straightforward and simple, it could be more attractive as the look has been the same for several years.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I produce videos and audio podcasts, so it's essential to be able to edit the audio in a time-efficient way. I like that it gives me a full range of tools, including noise reduction and compression, to maximize the quality of the recordings.

  ### 11. I think Sound Forge is an excellent tool!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marc F. | Contributing Editor, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It is easy to use and is very good at cleaning up bad sound or poor audio.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The only reason I don't use it is that Adobe's Audition has a tighter integration with my main video editing application, Premiere Pro.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was able to fix a lot of bad sounds. I used Sound Forge for everything from poorly recorded camera sound to an undercover recording where a tape recorder was hidden in a backpack. I also was able to normalize audio levels and many other useful things.

  ### 12. With help of markers and hotkeys function, it's easy to edit your audio with sound forge.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Markers and hotkeys are the significant functions of the sound forge. One's you learned hotkey features, you can perform many tasks related to audio editing and mastering. You can remove the click and pop sound without affecting the complete track. Sound forge excellently organized your plugins. So you can save all your most-used plugins in one folder.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

With all advantages that sound forge has offered, there is some disappointment. During batch audio processing, you are not able to hear the effect chain. It takes a long time to import or export the long audio file.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sound forge is one of the most outstanding software available for audio editing—best for beginners. Its markers and hotkey features make your audio editing task easy.

  ### 13. Good Audio Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ruth D. | Social Media Specialist Internship, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge Pro fully supports 24-bit audio resolution to capture the subtle nuances of sound, with 32-bit / 64-bit floats at 192 kHz files, and recording from 24-bit hardware. Version 10 adds tools from iZotope for high-quality processing, with Mbit + Dither for bit-depth conversion (for example, truncating from 24- 16-bit), 64-Bit SRC for sample rate conversion (for example, downsampling from 192 kHz to 44.1 kHz CD -quality), and Mastering Effects Bundle 2 with six professional audio plug-ins at 64-bit precision, including EQ, reverb, compressor, boost limiter, imager and stereo width, and analog exciter.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Can better describe the purpose and target use of the tools. Field effects do not include autotune / field corrections. Spectrum analysis window can view but not edit audio. Limited integration with Vegas and ACID (edit source project). The price in my opinion is too expensive for people like students. Sometimes it takes extra ram to process the audio in this software. And then.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

With a simple appearance, making sound editing is not too complicated or complicated. You can directly burn the edited audio to a CD or save it in various file formats such as WAV, WMA, RM, AVI, and MP3. The main functions of this software are audio recording, audio editing, effects processing, and media encoding. Sound Forge is suitable for friends from beginners to experts.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Sound Forge Pro interface is deceptively simple, until you can dig into a wider array of toolbars and processing options in the menu. Each new audio file opens in its own data window, with the extensive tools available for viewing and analyzing sound, including custom colors, channel meters, statistics, and spectrum analysis windows. Now it also supports viewing and editing metadata associated with audio files.

  ### 14. Best Audio Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pompe Andreanta H. | Digital Content Creator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

One of Sound Forge's strengths is the multitude of tasks involved in automatic processing of audio files. I don't have to spend a lot of time manually selecting tracks. For example, to silently delete breaks and sections would allow the auto cut / trim tool (process menu). This function is very useful to me because it will detect the part of the data whose signal level is higher than that determined by Sound Forge. Sound Forge considers such a part to be the end of the desired passage, or the beginning of a fragment of silence. This program is very useful for me.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Sony Sound Forge is that the program is not that difficult to learn. Many things are intuitive even for those users who are viewing the program for the first time, not to mention that they are dealing with previous versions of the application. However, to perform the complex tasks of voice processing, intuition alone is not enough. Requires storage of detailed manuals for the product itself and general textbooks on working with voice. And Sound Forge It's a bit complicated, especially if you use the DAW system

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

Sony Sound Forge is a professional multi-channel program for editing, processing, recording music and mastering. This application has the ability to import / export and encode / decode all modern formats, archive information, write / edit CDs and DvD. Implemented multi-channel and full support for DVD-drives. The program allows you to work with audio and video of any standard, with text and image files in multitrack mode.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sound Forge has a special module for automatic processing of multiple Batch Converter files. You can convert multiple recordings from one format to another. In addition, this module makes it possible to process a group of files with plugins. For example removing noise from 20 files or normalizing the levels to a given parameter. Apart from that Batch Converter supports batch renaming of files and introduction of additional information (metadata) it was very useful for me.

  ### 15. One of the best Digital Audio Workstations out there with all basic and pro effects.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Siddharth S. | Business Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 24, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Navigation. Compared to audacity and FL Studio, navigation in Sound Forge is extremely intuitive. You will understand it the first time you use it.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Effects like matching beats and combining melodies are way harder to do in Sound Forge than in FL Studio or in Virtual DJ.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

This is not a standalone DAW. You will need other softwares with it.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Combining songs, creating song overlays, and matching some amazing tunes.

  ### 16. Best simple audio file editor.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Philippe R. | Level Artist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge is a simple audio editing software. It's the perfect tool edit a lot of small files. It's the perfect tool for micro editing wave files before sending them to an audio engine or editing samples before sending the files to a sampler software,

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge have limited capabilities, but it makes it easy and efficient in what it does best... editing audio files.
It's best for small edits, like triming audio files. You can add some effects to files, but exept some volume adjustments, I would use somthing else to add effects, mix, or doing complexe audio editing.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used a lot soundforge to edit audio files for video games (i.e precisely trim audio before and after the part I needed). It would also be super efficient to edit sound files for sampler. It also has an easy to use batch exporter, so it's perfect to handle multiple small files.

  ### 17. Good Sound Editing Software

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

One of the best audio editor apps in my opinion. This application has been trusted by people around the world to edit and process audio files. An audio editor application is really needed to improve audio quality, especially for now.The features themselves vary. Multi-channel or Multitrack Recording, Disk Description Protocol Export, Real-time Sample Rate Wave Editor, and Voice Activity Detection are four of them. This app also supports VST and VSTI Effects plugins.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

This application has a fairly large file size, therefore it requires intermediate computer and laptop specifications. It has the simple appearance of a typical audio editor, making it easy to use even for beginners. Of course this application is highly recommended for those of you who like music. And I think it's a little difficult, especially if you use the DAW system

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 12 is a complete, affordable audio editor only available for Windows. Eits, but don't worry. For you Mac users, you can use SOUND FORGE Pro, which both have complete editing features but at a price that is a bit expensive. With SOUND FORGE Audio Studio 12, you can make sound edits and export the audio results to various formats. Video Integration is one of the advantages that you should consider choosing this software for audio editing that you will use in the long run.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Many people use this application to process their audio files so that the music or audio files produced are of high quality. It includes many audio effects that can be applied to your audio files. One common feature is a vocal remover that can remove vocals from music, which is known as karaoke music. You can use many features and plugins to improve audio quality.

  ### 18. Long time user. Long time fan.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Media Production | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 27, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

The ability to easily edit sound clips in a well design UI.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Some updates in the past have caused minor issues with the way things work.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

Compared to freeware and some other paid softwares, Soundforge has some more robust features you might not get elsewhere.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a high profile project at work that has to have pristine audio quality, and this ensures I can get it to that place.

  ### 19. Very complete digital audio editing program with many tools

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfonso M. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Intuitive digital audio editing program with many professional tools which specialize in digitizing audio for projects where we want to go to digital analog audio such as vinyl, cassettes or other types of audio, in the same way we can increase the quality of digital audios and transform them by adding depth, quality, and sound channels, we can cut, join, different audio tracks into one, we can also clean the different audio tracks to remove distortion or noise and transform them, we can also add different effects and backgrounds either as highlighting the treble or bass, in different scales, we can also add plugins to add more effects to our audio, we also have tools such as audio enhancements or oscilloscope and others to make projects even more professional

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The program is very good, especially that we can expand it with plugins, I would like it to have even more predefined audio effects to work more quickly

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

This software is very useful for editing digital audios for a better experience, I recommend seeing the tutorials that this same program offers

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In our work we proceed to edit the audio of some programs and documentaries as well as informative videos, which we must do in a professional way as in a cinema style, and add effects and increase the necessary quality, and even add depth channels, and that this is heard well in several sound systems, avoiding vibrations that could occur according to different situations such as deep bass systems or high sound, since we proceed to edit several audio clips, we proceed to join them into one, and then add the necessary effects, once the audios are finished we proceed to the exportation which sometimes uses wma formats or higher, and from there we proceed to render the complete project

  ### 20. It's a wonderful software for editing and designing the great sound. I love working on this software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** amar k. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 06, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Cut, edit and enhance audio files with the highest position and at the sample level.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

You can save FX presets but it does not save your last-used settings from session to session, and with some VST FX plugins, it doesn't even save them between application, undoing, and attempting to apply again.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

Sound Forge Audio Studio is a basic audio editor. It is far less expensive than its professional counterpart, Sound Forge Pro.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Graphical Fade feature allows you to easily draw volume envelopes in extremely short spans of audio, to successfully remove clicks and pops without affecting the rest of the sound.

  ### 21. Great audio editing tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Léo R. | Traductrice anglais-français, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge is easy to use, fast and intuitive. It takes very little training to use it and achieve great results.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The only negative thing I could say is that the size file is quite high.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Sound Forge mostly for music features recording and editing. Very easy to insert music and edit my voice with a very natural but professional finish. Just a pleasure to work with Sound Forge really, offering everything I needed as an artist interviewer and music feature host.

  ### 22. *It is a professional sound editor

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manoj P. | Lead UX/UI Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It gives the detailed output of even lip movement

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

the export quality makes the file bigger in size . Need optimization

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I had used SoundForge 15 years back, where I learned to edit track quickly. It is easy to learn and gives very good output. It is a dual track editing software and it helps to remove the noise quickly in a professional manner.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It gives high quality of output

  ### 23. Useful and easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nihad P. | Senior Communication & Production Adviser, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2021

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Simple. Not complicated at all, but there are enough options and possibilities to edit your audio pieces well.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

There are newer audio programmes that broadcast media - particularly radio stations as well as productions use them more.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I do, I recommend to others considering Sound Forge, particularly to broadcast media, radio stations and productions for their package-editing, including human voices and musics (for independent bloggers as well as you-tubers, media professionals, communication experts, freelancers etc.).

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Radio packages, including human voices and musics.

  ### 24. I remember heavily using Sound Forge for editing years ago. I though Magix owns it now.

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

I am uncertain aa to who owns it nowadays ...Magix/Sony

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

run the demo and see if it works for you

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Hi-Res recording and the synthesis plugin to generate waveforms to check pitch of instruments and singers is handy. Optimised for Mac. No problems at all.

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

The interface is simple and options are not very complicated to find.

Being a Sound engineer, I am more used to working on Pro tools or Cubase so it's not very convenient on that front as many options are limited.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It was useful for some quick editing that I needed to perform.

  ### 34. A compact audio editing application that packs good punch

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marco G. | Digital Media Specialist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2019

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

I found the design of Sound Forge to be very modern and sleek. All the tools are organized in distinct sections to help me to go back and forth between editing and applying effects in a smooth manner. The visual wave information is very precise. We can select very tiny segments of a WAV file in order to edit minute details such as scratch and pop sounds. Sound Forge also works well with many different extensions to give us a full range of effects without having to use a complete audio workstation.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

There aren't that many presets that allow us to apply complete effects with just a few clicks. The presets that are there don't always fittingly apply to the types of sounds that we are looking to edit. I can take users a long time to be able to figure out how to make the tools and effects work to create a specific sounds that the user is looking to produce.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

If you have a moderate background in audio editing, Sound Forge can be a great way for you to edit files quickly. You'll be able able to export files in many different formats. It's a very flexible system if you work with many other audio software.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sound Forge is a relatively low price professional sound editing application that we can use for many different purposes. We can make sound in our videos and audio assets more crisp and clean. We can apply effects repeatedly so that we don't have to manually configure effects every time we want to apply them to subsequent projects. Generally speaking, Sound Forge helps to make our sounds more dynamic and engaging.

  ### 35. Sound Forge is a very complete audio editing tool that can minimize production costs

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lea N. | Marketing Content Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2019

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

I like that there are many tools jam-packed into the top toolbar of Sound Forge. Instead of having to click through all the menus and sub menus, I can just click on one of the icons to activate an effect or feature that I need. I like that a quality app developer such as MAGIX is working on this software and can answer many questions through various online channels better than Sony. I also like that I can save my audio files too many common sound file formats including WAV, MP3 and Aiff. The cost of Sound Forge is generally lower than many other professional sound editing software.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge is seemingly geared more towards wave file editing and not really sound sequencing. There are layering and sequencing capabilities, but we can't organize them in a precise way as we would with typical music workstation applications. I'm not sure if MIDI is a primary option for more advanced sound development in Sound Forge, but from the looks of it, Sound Forge is not an ideal solution for MIDI productions.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I think you should experiment with all the effects when starting out with Sound Forge to see what the capabilities are. If the final results of your test sounds aren't up to your standards, you can add in extensions for more effects and features.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Sound Forge is a quick sound editing tool that lets me process audio on its own or for videos. I can also make raw sound files sound more clean and have more punch by using the frequency and equalization effects in Sound Forge. Whenever I need to make a quick edit or cut some type of sound out, I can do so relatively quickly with the wave editing tools in Sound Forge. Sometimes I don't even have to hear the sound I need to cut out. I can just see it as a visual element in the wave timeline.

  ### 37. a complicated job if you do not have experience or time

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Entertainment | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2018

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Is a program that at first glance is seen as a very difficult program to handle due to all the functions, effects and processes that it brings, but the truth is that the help it has incorporated facilitates things since it indicates and teaches you in a good way very precise that you must do and what you should not do to make mixes, put effects, generate elements, etc

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

to be a program of the brand sony I expected something more. It has many effects, processes and others, but nothing that other programs of the same type do not. It is not an intuitive program, and although it is not so complex to learn, if or if you should use the help, or look for tutorial videos to be able to make the most of it when making any modification to an audio file.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I think it can be useful if you have to win to learn and spend hours in front of your pc.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not many. the last time I had to do some work on some audios that had been delivered to me, and although I was able to do them on time, the process was longer and I found it more difficult and with not so good result, in comparison with the times I have occupied another program of the same type.

  ### 38. Sound Forge

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harry M. | Owner, Public Relations and Communications, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 22, 2017

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It is great at getting audio in a film to even out the volume in various scenes. I hate when the volume in any audio is not consistent. Sound Forge can easily fix that problem.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

I wish Sony Acid Pro came with it. Sound Forge has some music loops but I like being able to make melodies with rhythm that fits the scene.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

You'll be a sound engineer with this software.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Audio is always harder then Video in Film making.

  ### 39. Sound Forge Great with Storyline 2

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melanie M. | Safety Coordinator and Workman Compensation Specialist, Non-Profit Organization Management, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2017

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

I develop modules for people who are learning English and use Sound Forge to add the audio for Storyline 2 presentations. I've found that once you learn the basics it's easy to record the audio and import the finished product to Storyline 2. Since I'm a novice I am only using voice recordings, but gradually I'm adding features to enhance the sound quality.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The software manual included with the program is very basic. I would prefer if it went into far more detail so I could actually produce better quality products. I'm finding I'm having to do a lot of research on other products and how they work to understand how to use Sound Forge. While the software is great, the learning curve is very high if you've never used similar products or recorded before.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I don't find much support in the way of providing a complete training manual or community support. With that said, I like the product. Long learning curve if you have no previous experience.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Adding audio to my presentations adds value to the product. But I'd like to be able to have even higher sound quality. I've purchased a better mike, and developed a sound proof recording area, but still can't get the high sound quality I'm striving for. Having a more complete training manual, and a community forum where I could get advice from others using the software would certainly help.

  ### 40. Best single track audio editor, hands down

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chase W. | Developer, IT, Market Research, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2016

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Everything from the interface to the controls to the exporting of files feels tight and solid when working with Sony's Sound Forge. Easy to get started with, but features lots of shortcuts for power users. For single track editing, I prefer working with Sound Forge over other software, like Audition or Audacity, because Sound Forge feels as lightweight, as clean as possible, without sacrificing anything in terms of editing precision. Recording with Sound Forge is also pretty easy and straight forward.

I've been using Sound Forge as primary single track editor since Adobe bought Syntrillium's Cool Edit, and destroyed it when they turned it into Audition.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

When effects processing is needed, I prefer to use Sony Acid over Sound Forge, as Sound Forge's interface for creating effects isn't as robust as in other software. For multi-track recordings, I use other software, too. I've found file type support to be questionable at times, as Sound Forge will sometimes throw errors when trying to load certain more obscure and/or proprietary and/or not perfectly encoded file types. I've also found some of the features of the recording interface to be buggy, like the real-time display feedback.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

If all you're doing is single track audio editing, you can't go wrong with Sound Forge. But if your project involves multi-track editing and/or editing audio for video, I find it's always easiest to work within the creative suite's bundle, i.e. if you're editing video in Adobe Premiere Pro, edit the audio in Audition; if you're editing video in Sony Vegas, edit the audio in Acid.

  ### 41. Sound Forge

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

I use the program whenever you want to edit any sounds. When slice melody phone use Sound Forge.

Not a difficult job even for beginners.

I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to edit sounds. The program is serious and can do many things with it.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

Product price.
The new versions have quite requirement for computer

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I like the program so I know that there are many things that do not know, but I do not and need. What can I do with the program is great. Continue to develop so.

I like the idea I myself can edit sounds and melodically as I like

  ### 43. Used it with the Sony Vegas editing family.

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene F. | Production Coordinator, Broadcast Media, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It's a fairly good audio editor, Works well with the Sony pro family. Nothing outstanding though, but it gets the job done.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

It crashed a lot for me. Even after fresh installs and updates the crashes continued. It got to the point where I used Audacity instead of Forge. It probably wont happen to you, but crashes can still happen to a small amount of users.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

I got it free when I bought a Sony Vegas Pro bundle for a very discounted price. If you want to keep your editing flow within a single family of editing programs, Sound Forge Pro isn't bad. It works will with other Sony programs, so edit with it all you like.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used this to edit. Never really solved any problems with it, especially because of all the crashes. I used to use the Sony Editing family when I freelanced, however I have moved on to Adobe.

  ### 44. An incredibly powerful audio editing tool

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruce E. | Digital Media Constultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge is offers some amazing features that are hard to find in the consumer market. The program offers a robust interface along with a streamlined processing engine for developing audio segments. Its not the easiest to use audio editor but it most can learn its many functions within several days. Sound Forge really offers a professional level set of tools that go a long way for the pro-consumer or professional editor when working with audio files.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The interface itself can be a bit tricky and hard to learn. Its pricing is also a bit high and some consumers may want to look elsewhere. Other issues include some awkward handling of some audio file types. Occasionally the software has crashed when trying to edit audio files.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

Prospective buyers will definitely want to try out other audio editors on the market before buying Sound Forge. Its interface and functionality may appeal to some users but not all.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For me I found the software very adept at editing pre-existing sound files, re-encoding files, and developing music themes for videos. It also has a fairly streamlined interface that works well once one gets to know the functions fairly well.

  ### 45. Sound forge

They are very sony specific which could affect playing in real player or similar players

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Christian K. | Director, Media Production, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

It just works, it's robust, simple to use and understand.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

That I don't have the sort of job that needs me to use it more often.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

If you want to edit samples like the best, get in there. Richard James can't be wrong.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It taught me the value of editing by hand, of commitment to changes and how basic simple tools can kick ass in production compared to bloated and overcomplicated rivals.

  ### 50. Good, but not for the price

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** KC M. | Freelancer, Animation, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2016

**What do you like best about Sound Forge?**

Sound Forge is a good program. It has a lot of functionality as a recording and editing application.

**What do you dislike about Sound Forge?**

The functionality Sound Forge provides isn't that much more than Audacity, and it definitely isn't enough to justify the cost.

**Recommendations to others considering Sound Forge:**

If you want something more powerful than Audacity, I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Audition is a good choice if you're fine with a monthly fee.

**What problems is Sound Forge solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used Sound Forge as a recording program briefly before moving to Audacity.
