GeoHECRAS has been a very reliable software for me, and I currently have no recommendations to improve it. I have found that CivilGEO has spent significant time making sure this software as good as possible and it definitely shows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use GeoHECRAS for projects related to stormwater flooding and dam failures. GeoHECRAS makes both these types of studies quick and easy to do. I'm able to complete them efficiently and at a higher quality than with other software I've previously used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The bloatware aspect of it. AutoDesk never takes anything out of AutoCAD, just adds new stuff on top of existing. It definitely slows down load time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As the default 2D drafting program, the DWG format is largely convertible for import into other programs. As a more limited in scope and capability program than BIM programs likes like Revit, the basic elements of the program can be taught with relative ease. Designcenter NX solves the problem of using many different tools for design, testing, and manufacturing by putting everything in one software. This helps me save time and work faster because I don’t need to switch between programs. It also reduces mistakes since any change updates everywhere. At times, performance can slow down when working with very large assemblies or highly detailed imported models. We also feel the UI and command discovery for less frequent tools could be more intuitive, especially for newer users. Solid Edge features a user-friendly interface paired with robust modeling tools like Synchronous Technology. This modeling approach enables rapid creation and effortless modification of 3D models. SketchUp solves the 3D representation for me quickly, I like its ease of use and the extensive 3dwarehouse library, which saves me time. I can make quick changes and generate realistic settings in my projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

-A lock or read-only mode for supplied model elements would be helpful for regulatory workflows--especially when we only want to add or isolate certain features without changing the approved hydrology that is not impacted by the updates.

-Make calculation assumptions clearer and allow options. For example, when calculating TCs the hydraulic radius is assumed. However, some cities prefer velocities for channelized flow to be assumed. In the report feature include more detailed calculations so it is easier to implement in the submitted report. Or possibly allow an option to generate a well-structured TC and CN excel sheet that includes detailed calculations.

-For CN calcs include the basin name in the attribute table for the intermediate results shapefile. This way if we need to merge all of them together in GIS they still can be categorized by the basin

-Allow for several terrain layering for tcs etc. For example if we have multiple terrains and want one terrain read for part of the tc and a different one for a seperate portion.

-The report feature is very beneficial however i think AI could be implemented to help improve the context, structure, calculations, etc. This will help the user better incorporate the hydrology model and its parameters in their overall drainage report that is to be submitted.

-Allow better control of what component is being selected. Right now, if i have the HMS model on and add a cad file or other shapefiles i cannot select them while the hms model is on.

-In HEC-RAS there is a tool that allows the user to compare geometries and points out any differences. This would be beneficial in GeoHMS

-Before running the model if there are elements with no downstream connection add a pop up before running prompting the user to confirm before running. There have been times when working with large models that i have gone through several iterations and then find out that one junction is missing a connection. OvOverall, GeoHECHMS significantly reduces time and increases efficiency by eliminating the need to use multiple software programs. The software's unique capabilities streamline processes, leading to substantial cost savings. One example, GeoHECHMS simplifies river routing by automatically creating and assigning 8-point cross sections to your reaches. Previously, this would require creating these sections in GIS or Civil 3D, manually assigning the points, and then inputting them into HECHMS for each reach. Since I've started working on larger studies, I've found that a query allowing the user to quickly highlight the results in larger projects would be helpful in reducing the time it takes to identify deficiencies. In working with CivilGEO these last few years, I've seen that they take feedback from users seriously and are always focused on improving their software. GeoSTORM is really allowing us to be more creative and find the best solutions for our clients. Since I started using GeoSTORM, I know that my stormwater modeling capabilities have improved because of what the software offers, and that has directly helped my clients. I feel like GeoSTORM has allowed me to better discuss what's going on with clients to seek the best solutions. There isn’t really anything I dislike about Onshape, except for one issue: it relies entirely on an internet connection. If your connection is slow or unstable, the software’s performance also suffers, which can be quite frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The only issues I have ran into so far are crashes and the autosave function failing. At times, it will freeze up randomly even if there was no input into the program. Additionally, the autosave feature is not the greatest, as it doesn't always reconnect to the host server. I actually lost a small amount of work from yesterday due to this. Altium allows me and my company to streamline our development process and integrate multiple different designs and boards in one program. Previously, we were using KiCad which didn't allow for multiboard design. Now, we are able to work with ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One thing I dislike about SOLIDWORKS is that it can be quite resource-heavy. On lower-spec systems, it may lag or even crash, especially when you’re working with complex assemblies.

The learning curve can also feel pretty steep for beginners, particularly when trying to get into advanced features like simulation or surface modeling. Another drawback is that the licensing cost is relatively high, which may not be ideal for students or small-scale users.

SOLIDWORKS helps solve the problem of turning conceptual ideas into accurate and detailed 3D models. Earlier, it was difficult to visualize designs clearly or check if parts would fit together properly, but with SOLIDWORKS, I can create assemblies and test everything virtually before actual implementation.

It also helps in identifying design errors early through simulation and analysis, which saves both time and cost. For me, this has been especially useful in academic and project work, where I can design, modify, and optimize components quickly without needing multiple physical trials. One thing I don’t like about artificial intelligence is that it is not always perfectly accurate and sometimes gives information that needs to be double-checked. It also cannot fully understand human emotions or personal situations like a real person can. MicroStation helps solve problems related to technical drawing, design accuracy, and project coordination. It allows us to create precise engineering drawings and manage complex infrastructure projects more efficiently. One thing I dislike about Autodesk Fusion is that it is highly dependent on an internet connection for sign-in and cloud features, which can be inconvenient when working with limited or unstable connectivity. Sometimes the software also feels resource-heavy, especially on mid-range systems, causing slowdowns during complex assemblies or simulations.

Another drawback is that some advanced features are locked behind paid plans, which can be limiting for students or individual users who want to explore deeper CAM or simulation capabilities. Occasional updates also change the interface slightly, which takes some time to adjust to.

Autodesk Fusion solves the problem of having to use multiple separate tools for design, testing, and manufacturing by bringing everything into one integrated platform.

From an electronics perspective, it helps in designing accurate enclosures, brackets, and mechanical parts for electronic projects such as sensor housings, control boxes, and PCB enclosures. Being able to visualize dimensions in 3D ensures that electronic components fit properly, reducing physical rework and material waste. This has helped me move from concept to a ready-to-fabricate design much faster. One thing I didn’t like initially about Coohom was that the interface felt a bit overwhelming. Since the layout is different from some other design tools, it took me time to understand where certain settings and controls were located. In the beginning, this slowed down my workflow. I also felt that some features are not very intuitive at first. You sometimes have to try a few times or watch tutorials to fully understand how a specific tool works. For someone using it for the first time, that adjustment period can be slightly frustrating. As an interior designer with around two years of experience, one of the biggest challenges I face is presenting ideas clearly to clients. Many clients find it difficult to imagine a space just by looking at 2D drawings or explanations. Coohom helps solve that problem by allowing me to create proper 3D designs and realistic renders that make the concept much easier to understand. It saves me time compared to doing everything manually. I can quickly build layouts, experiment with furniture placement, and adjust materials to show different options. For me, Coohom solves the problem of visualization, client communication, and presentation quality. It helps me create better-looking interior concepts and explain them confidently.
