"Good Balance of Ease-of-Use and Functionality for HR Case Reporting"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

As a first-time user, I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I could set up dashboards in Yellowfin. The interface is intuitive, allowing me to explore data and create reports without needing extensive technical skills. What impressed me most was the ease of collaboration—being able to comment and share insights directly within the platform helps keep everyone aligned. While I know there are more advanced features to discover as I continue, the rapid time-to-value and the overall smooth, user-friendly experience have made a strong impression. What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

As a first-time user, I found a few areas where Yellowfin could be improved. Some of the advanced features were not immediately intuitive, and I needed to spend extra time experimenting to understand how to use them effectively. I also sometimes felt restricted in how much I could customize certain charts and layouts—while it works well out of the box, making detailed adjustments to the appearance isn’t always simple. Overall, it’s a capable tool, but there is definitely a learning curve once you go beyond the basics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Flexible BI Tool for Data Analysis and Reporting"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

I like how Yellowfin BI focuses on explaining insights and delivering analytics to end users. One feature I really like is Data Storytelling, because it combines charts, text, and context into a narrative, making reports easier to understand and present. Another standout feature is Pixel-perfect Reporting, which can produce clean, well-formatted reports in PDF or email. It's much stronger than most modern 'Dashboard-first' BI tools. The initial setup of Yellowfin BI was easy and comfortable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

Yellowfin BI is strong at explaining insights, but there are some areas where it falls short and could improve. Data preparation and transformation is heavily dependent on clean, well-modeled source data, and I think it needs stronger built-in data transformation and better support for iterative modeling changes. Also, performance at scale is an issue because performance tuning isn't always intuitive. It needs clearer performance diagnostics and better optimization for high volume data. "Rapid Insights and Seamless Collaboration with a User-Friendly Platform"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

- Rapid time-to-value — prototypes and dashboards can be built and delivered quickly, so stakeholders see usable insights fast.

- End-to-end platform — administration, content development and consumption live in one product (no stitching multiple tools together).

- Strong collaboration features — in-report comments, task assignments and scheduled distribution make analytics a team activity, not a one-off export.

- Modern, user-friendly UI — reduces training overhead and makes dashboards accessible to non-technical decision makers.

- Good vendor support & training — timely help and learning resources that speed adoption across teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

While Yellowfin is a strong BI platform overall, the Natural Language Query (NLQ) feature still feels somewhat limited for business users. It often requires very specific phrasing to return the right results, which reduces the “natural” aspect of the experience. Non-technical users expect conversational flexibility, but NLQ sometimes struggles with variations in how questions are asked, especially around aggregated metrics or multi-step queries. It’s a useful feature, but not yet at the level where executives can rely on it for quick, intuitive answers without some trial and error. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly BI with Seamless Data Integration"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

I love how Yellowfin BI allows us to gain a comprehensive view of our law firm's data without the need to sift through multiple databases and dashboards. This makes the process of analyzing information much more efficient and streamlined. I really appreciate the easy-to-use user interface, which enhances our overall user experience by simplifying our interaction with the software. Additionally, the data integration capabilities are robust and flexible, allowing us to amalgamate data from various sources effortlessly. The fact that Yellowfin BI is white-labeled and customizable for various integrations adds a layer of adaptability that meets our specific needs in a dynamic environment. I also found the initial setup of Yellowfin BI to be easy and effective, contributing positively to the implementation process. Most importantly, the combination of these features has led me to rate my likelihood of recommending Yellowfin BI as a perfect 10 out of 10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

I feel that Yellowfin BI could benefit from having more features and advanced functions. Specifically, the lack of pivot table capabilities and enhancements to the graphical user interface are areas where I believe improvements are needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Making Data Easier to Understand and Act On"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

What I like most about Yellowfin BI is that it focuses on understanding data, not just displaying it. The storytelling feature makes it easy to explain insights in plain language, which is great for business users and executives. Built-in collaboration (comments, annotations, sharing) helps teams discuss insights in context instead of jumping between tools. It’s also strong for embedded analytics, making it a good fit for SaaS products. Overall, it feels practical, user-friendly, and designed to help people actually make decisions with data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

What I dislike about Yellowfin BI is that it can feel limiting for advanced analytics and power users. Performance may slow with large or complex datasets, and the UI feels a bit dated. It’s great for storytelling, but not ideal for deep or highly technical analysis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Collaborative Data Storytelling with User-Friendly Self-Service BI"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

What I like best about Yellowfin BI is its strong emphasis on collaboration and data storytelling, which makes insights more accessible and actionable for everyone, not just technical users. Its interface strikes a good balance between power and user-friendliness, allowing teams to explore data and generate reports without heavy reliance on IT. Features like automated signals and alerts help highlight important trends, while embedded analytics and self-service capabilities make it easy to integrate BI into other applications and workflows. At the same time, Yellowfin maintains robust governance, ensuring data is secure and consistent. Overall, it’s a tool that helps organizations move beyond simply visualizing data to actually using it to make informed decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

One downside of Yellowfin BI is that it can struggle with very large datasets, and its visualization options are less flexible than some competitors. Advanced analytics features are limited, and initial setup with multiple data sources can be somewhat complex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy-to-Use BI with Clean Visuals and Powerful Storytelling"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

Yellowfin BI has been a great tool for turning our data into something the whole team can actually use. What I like most is how easy it is to navigate, even non-technical users can build dashboards and explore insights without feeling overwhelmed. The visualizations are clean and flexible, and the storytelling feature really helps when presenting results to stakeholders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

One area Yellowfin could improve is performance with very large datasets. When we pull in a lot of data at once, dashboards can slow down and take longer to load than we’d like. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it does mean we have to be more careful with how we structure reports and what we load into a single dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly BI with Fast Reporting and Seamless Sharing"
What do you like best about Yellowfin BI?

In my daily work, I use Yellowfin BI to create the reports and dashboards as per client requirement.I added drill-down reports to see more details by client when they click on the main report like by user and by amount. Also, I used the column formatting and filter features while creating reports. I created dashboards and added the reports like table and charts report. I also share reports and dashboards with my clients using broadcast scheduling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

Sometimes, Yellowfin BI takes more time to load large reports. When the data is large, filtering and refreshing take longer and slow down the work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?

Good question — every BI tool has trade-offs. Here’s a balanced, honest answer that highlights areas for improvement without sounding overly negative (great for reviews or surveys): What Could Be Improved in Yellowfin BI? While Yellowfin BI is a strong and reliable analytics platform, there are a few areas where improvements would make it even better. 1. Performance with Large or Complex Datasets When working with very large datasets or highly complex reports: Dashboards can take longer to load Performance tuning is sometimes required Improved optimization or clearer performance-tuning guidance would help in data-heavy environments. 2. Advanced Visualization Customization Although Yellowfin covers most standard charting needs: Some advanced visual design options feel limited Highly customized or modern visuals can be harder to achieve compared to some competitors More flexibility in layout, styling, and custom visuals would be a welcome enhancement. 3. Learning Curve for Advanced Features Basic reporting is easy to pick up, but: Advanced features (embedding, complex data models, Signals) take time to master Documentation is helpful but can sometimes feel fragmented More guided tutorials or in-product walkthroughs would improve onboarding. 4. Natural Language Query Limitations The natural language query feature is useful for simple questions, but: It can struggle with complex or nuanced queries Users still need to understand data structures for best results Expanding conversational analytics would make the feature more powerful. 5. Upgrade and Version Management Some upgrades require careful planning: Compatibility issues can occasionally arise Changes between versions may impact existing reports Smoother upgrade paths and clearer impact documentation would reduce maintenance effort. 6. Export and Formatting Options While exporting reports works well overall: Formatting options for PDFs and Excel exports can be limited Pixel-perfect reporting sometimes requires extra effort Enhanced export customization would benefit users who rely on formal reporting outputs. Overall Perspective These limitations don’t outweigh Yellowfin BI’s strengths, but addressing them would: Improve performance at scale Reduce friction for advanced users Make the platform even more competitive In Summary Yellowfin BI works very well for everyday reporting, dashboards, collaboration, and embedded analytics, but could improve in performance optimization, advanced visualization flexibility, and ease of use for complex features.
