With over 5000 users and over 130 client organisations globally our solution is in constant use accross many timezones. We can manage content for various clients at the default level for all as well as customise content according to individual client needs.The broadcast functionality is critcal for us allowing us to deliver near real time alerts to our clients. This in turn allows them to pivot quickly according to their business needs. Advanced functionality is added regularly and is truly innovative and after using Yellowfin for over eight years we still have untapped potential eagerly awaiting our implementation! **What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?** Yellowfin customer support team is very responsive and they are great at responding to and following up on support tickets. On a couple occasions, though, when I've submitted move complex support tickets I find it can be a little difficult to get the the ticket escalated past tier 1 support when this is necessary to solve the issue. Also we find some functionality does not work as well for Analysis Services (Cubes) data sources as it does for other data source technologies. A large percentage of our reports are built on a cube datasource so this at times can be a little frustrating. We do understand, though, that it is technically more challenging to implement some of the more advanced functionality on cubes and we have always found work-arounds. **What problems is Yellowfin BI solving and how is that benefiting you?** Yellowfin, customized with our company logo and colours, is our core client-facing BI and reporting tool. There is a pretty good repository of help articles and questions from customers, and support is pretty responsive. However, when dealing with support, you only get to interact with the middle man so there is a lot of back and forth to try and get resolution to issues. **What problems is Yellowfin BI solving and how is that benefiting you?** One stop shop for all of our reporting needs. Our ERP system is not the most user friendly to run reports, and creating new stuff requires developer assistance. Once we hooked in the ERP system to Yellowfin, I was able to access all of the data and make what I wanted to on my own. The UI is pretty good and it is very simple to create stunning dashboards, reports, and presentations using out of the box featuers. The drag and drop method as well as the more automated, guided Ask a Question features make building content very quick and easy. I use Yellowfin on a daily basis and interact with Yellowfin support and customer support frequently and find them helpful and quick to respond. In my experience, Yellowfin is easy to implement and integrate into your applications. **What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?** Infrequent but problematic challenges with inflexibility using UI. Would like the ability to create custom calculated totals, hide columns in reports for specific users, and easier migration of client orgs from one environment to another. I like that I can use many different data sources. I like that I am able to do conditional formatting. Most importantly I like that I can set complicated rules for sending reports - including not only the SQL rules but also having the engine look every X minutes to see if appropriate data needs to be distributed. This is super important to the work I do, as having to proscribe the time it sends in advance is a big problem for me given the multiple dependencies (and therefore failures) on the processes that get the data to yellow fin. the flexibility means that even when there are upstream failures, i can just re-run the upstream processes at will and yellowfin will get the data and distribute it. brilliant! **What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?** The broadcast feature can be buggy. I often have to start from scratch as opposed to just adding a new email. **What problems is Yellowfin BI solving and how is that benefiting you?** I need to send encrypted reports to mulitple users. Their online wiki has always been able to answer any quesions I have too. We host YF on AWS, all on our own instance, so everything is under our control which we also really like. It's also very quick and easy to pick up report building, even if you have no BI experience. Upgrading the software is very simple. Love the customer support. Nathalia is the best! Plus integrating YellowFin into our system has been relatively easy and painless. **What do you dislike about Yellowfin BI?** this may be my ignorance, but a rollback capability. I recently updated a datasource from using a table as it's source to using a view. When I went to implement the new view, I gave it the same name as the existing view and overwrote the existing view. I assumed that since the in-use field names were exactly the same between the two views and the views had the same name that everything built on this view would just work without me having to do anything else.
