## Windmill Reviews
 ### 1. Instant Insights and Effortless 1:1 Notes with Windmill

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ron A. | Software Engineering Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

Windmill lets me quickly see what’s going on with my direct reports. I really appreciate the insights it provides without forcing me to dig through source control, Slack, my calendar, or other systems just to understand what’s happening with people. I also love that I can leave Windmill a memo as a direct message and have it update the one-on-one agenda automatically. Lately, I’ve been finding the ability to record my one-on-ones, ask Windmill to summarize the transcript, and have one-on-one notes generated for me incredibly useful.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

I don't dislike it yet. So far they've been super responsive to feature requests. The system changes have been positive and rapid.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windmill is driving stronger one-on-ones. I'm looking forward to the next review period to expedite how long it takes me to write reviews and also the amount of value that my reviews drive for my reports.

 ### 2. Windmill transformed our 1:1s from routine check-ins into meaningful growth conversations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karim A. | Director of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

The 1:1 meeting feature has transformed how RetailNext manages team conversations. Instead of manually building agendas or trying to recall what we discussed last time, Windmill automatically pulls in context from meeting recordings, Slack discussions, code changes, and ticket tracking — giving me a clear picture of what my direct reports have been working on before we even sit down. The AI-suggested topics are great at surfacing blockers, wins, and important updates I might have missed. I also love that the platform maintains a running history of all our 1:1s, making it easy to reference past discussions during performance reviews.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

There's nothing I actively dislike, but I'd love to see Windmill introduce its own dedicated 1:1 bot. Currently, the platform relies on external meeting note and transcription tools, which can feel uncomfortable when conversations touch on personal or sensitive matters. Ideally, Windmill would build a native bot designed specifically for 1:1s — one that understands the different styles these meetings can take, such as the to-do list style for tracking action items, the catch-up style for open-ended conversation, the feedback style for giving and receiving input, and the progress style for reviewing goals. Even better, it could remind managers to rotate between these styles to keep 1:1s well-rounded rather than defaulting to the same format every week.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windmill is helping us run more effective 1:1s that genuinely focus on direct report enablement and growth rather than just status updates. The improvement and feedback sections, combined with AI-assisted brainstorming around action items, make it much easier to turn conversations into concrete development steps for each team member.

 ### 3. The 1:1 tool I wish I'd had years ago

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

The 1:1 meeting feature has changed how I manage team conversations. Instead of manually typing up agenda items or trying to remember what we discussed last, Windmill automatically pulls in context from Google calendar and Slack so I can see what my direct report has been working on. The AI-generated suggested topics help surface blockers, wins, developmental areas, and updates I might have missed. I also love that the platform keeps a running history of all our 1:1s, so I can easily reference past discussions during performance reviews. I also love that my team and I get scheduled reminders from Windy (via Slack) of our upcoming 1:1 syncs, allowing us to add or remove agenda topics

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

I am just still waiting for Smartops to be integrated into Windmill. I would also like it if my team meetings could be captured on Windmill (not just 1:1's)

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Before Windmill, I wasn’t getting the most value out of my 1:1 meetings. I'd spend the first 10 minutes of every meeting just catching up on what people had been working on, and I'd often forget to address important topics until our next check-in. Windmill solves this by automatically aggregating all the context I need before each meeting - Slack messages and training sessions (Google calendar) - so we can skip the status updates and dive straight into training, problem-solving, Q&A, and career development. It's saved me hours of prep time each month and made my 1:1's significantly more valuable for me and my direct reports.

 ### 4. Windmill: Best Performance Management Software for AI-forward Companies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommy M. | CRO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

Deep integration + context awareness
Windmill’s AI assistant, “Windy,” connects to the tools teams already use (Slack, GitHub, Jira, Asana, Salesforce, and more) and automatically captures work context. Because of that, insights are grounded in actual work, not just survey responses.

Reduces administrative overhead
Managers and HR don’t have to chase updates, build reports from scratch, or manually prompt reviews. Windy handles check-ins, feedback prompts, 1:1 agendas, and drafts performance reviews. This frees up time for higher-value leadership work (coaching, strategy, etc.).

Continuous feedback & timeliness
Rather than waiting for quarterly or annual reviews, Windmill supports real-time feedback, weekly recaps, and contextual prompts tied to recent projects or collaborations. This helps reduce recency bias and keeps performance conversations more relevant.

Actionable analytics and reports
The system synthesizes both qualitative feedback (from conversational inputs) and quantitative data (from integrated tools) to generate summaries, deep dives, and dashboards.

Windmill feels like having a smart assistant that works in the background — gathering feedback, summarizing performance, and prompting team alignment — so I don’t lose sleep over chasing administrative tasks.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

The company is early and am looking forward to more features being developed

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windmill solves the pain of manual, fragmented people management by automating feedback collection, performance tracking, and 1:1 preparation directly within everyday tools like Slack. Its AI assistant, Windy, gathers real-time insights from ongoing work, reducing the need for tedious status updates or scattered reviews. As a result, managers save hours of administrative effort, gain clearer visibility into team performance, and hold more meaningful conversations grounded in recent accomplishments and challenges — ultimately allowing them to focus less on process and more on coaching and leadership.

 ### 5. Keeps 1-2-1s Organised with Smart Suggestions and Helpful Summaries

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Igor T. | Software Engineering Consulting & Freelancing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

I think the company itself is super responsive to feedback - they put great effort in ensuring the tool serves our needs.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

There were some issues due to geolocation restrictions - something outside of control, but making it challenging to work with it sometimes.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me keep my 1-2-1s organised - I can easily track all of my 1-2-1s in one place with smart suggestions that can help with keeping conversation going. It also nicely summarises my team member's efforts so I can easily see what they're up to without needing to manually do research.

 ### 6. Using Windmill has made managing feedback and team check-ins faster and more organized.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zachory C. | Operation and Training Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 07, 2025

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

Windmill makes customer service easier by using AI assistant Windy to handle feedback, reviews, and check-ins. It works with Slack and Google Workspace, giving managers quick team updates and early problem alerts. Windy saves time, encourages more participation, and improves engagement. It also has features like automated agendas and support to help teams stay organized, proactive, and efficient.

Their support is excellent, and the setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

Too much automation can make interactions feel impersonal or robotic.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windmill addresses key business challenges by automating performance reviews, feedback, and team check-ins, while reducing time spent on manual management tasks. It enhances visibility into team health, helps identify issues early, and promotes consistent communication between managers and employees. By streamlining these processes, Windmill increases engagement, accountability, and overall operational efficiency.

 ### 7. A Manager's Best Tool for Engagement & 1-on-1s

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

Windmill seamlessly integrates into our existing workflows, particularly Slack, making 1-on-1s and employee engagement incredibly efficient. The AI-powered check-ins feel natural and unobtrusive, leading to much higher participation than our previous survey tools. It automates the administrative heavy lifting for managers, freeing them up to focus on coaching and development, which has been a significant win for our team's productivity and morale.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

While we're excited about the platform's potential, it's still a relatively new tool with features in development. We're eagerly awaiting future updates that will allow it to more comprehensively replace other HR software we use for performance management and follow-ups. Expanding its integration capabilities will be key to making it a truly all-in-one solution for us.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windmill is solving two major problems for us: the administrative burden on managers and low employee participation in engagement initiatives. Before Windmill, our managers spent too much time on the manual logistics of preparing for 1-on-1s and tracking team feedback, which felt disconnected from our daily work. Furthermore, traditional engagement surveys were often met with low response rates.

The benefit has been twofold. By seamlessly integrating into Slack and automating check-ins, we've seen an increase in employee participation, giving us a much more accurate pulse on team sentiment. This automation also frees up our managers' time, allowing them to shift their focus from administrative tasks to high-value coaching and development. As a result, our team's productivity and morale have seen a significant and positive impact.

 ### 8. Great Weekly Insights. Excellent new feature velocity

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Windmill?**

Windmill gives us crisp weekly visibility into impact and productivity, ships new features at remarkable velocity, and has become our go-to platform for running company-wide performance reviews.

**What do you dislike about Windmill?**

After 6+ months, we haven't hit any significant pain points. The team is remarkably responsive to feature requests and consistently delivers thoughtful solutions.

**What problems is Windmill solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Manual HR processes. Gathering objective records of everyone's impact and productivity efficiently.
