The best i like from Vcenter is that you can control everything from one console. So you can control Hosts , Virtual Machines, Storage and Networking. This is very helpfull for an IT System Administrator Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The least helpfull about Vmware Vcenter i think is with licensing the Host. So example you for a host with two processors you cannot apply two license for each processor but you need to go to the vmware site to merge the two license to one and then you can apply the license. The simplified HTML based user interface, the admin interface. The manageability of the infrastructure hosts and virtual machines. Simplified guest virtual machine console. Representation of the host machines and guest virtual machine's health status, event, warnings. Easy network management, device management, datastore management. Easy upgrade for ESXi hosts and patches from built-in update manager. vCenter allows integrating the active directory authentication, which is a secure measurement for corporates to have some control over user access. Enhanced Link-mode features to connect two different vCenter to perform cross-vCenter vMotion for the virtual machines. It has its own HA mechanism for vCenter HA. Which is also a very good feature to have a redundancy of the vCenter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it has to refresh manually to see the updated status of hosts and guests. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Vcenter is very good at managing resources, and load balancing to keep everything working properly, I liked this software as it is good at consolidating the information you need to know about your esx hosts and virtual machines across one location easily For reference purposes, one of the relevant functions of this system which draws my attention is that it allows managing large sets of complex infrastructure components. Managing multiple vCenter instances can be challenging at times, this mostly happens when a new software update is performed, the support is often difficult to navigate, which does not provide a describable not very stable customer support, in other aspects we can mention that some administrative pages are difficult to find and use, having a delay in question to work when exercising the software. I think that the best of Vmware is that is easy to use and configure , also its adaptable in any equipment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
a little bit dislike me the issues that sometimes show, when I connect with a browser's, like the certificate. I think that the graphical interface it must be more nice Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VMware VirtualCenter provides a great way to manage our virtual machines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VMware does take a little bit of a learning curve to get going. But once you try out the many features the program provides, you'll be surprised of all that it offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) Central management of all of my ESXi server nodes.
2) DRS to balance computing workloads with all available resources (ESXi nodes).
3) HA to minimize the application down time since it has the ability to restart the failed VM on another ESXi node.
4) Snapshots - enables me to do any modifications to my VMs and revert back with in seconds if any thing goes wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
VMware vCenter license cost little bit more Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Live Migration of Vmware, Mange multiple ESXI at the same time without error.
- Live Migration so powerful moving VM without shutdown at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
- Using Flash and HTML5 the UI is not smooth, FLASH player are block with chrome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Our On-Prem data center is completely virtual environment. We are using vSphere for our all host. Currently, we are using vCenter Server 6.5. Most best feature in vCenter Server is a service that allow you to manage your all your virtual infrastructure in a single platform.
It has multiple features do I love that, like Dashboard is very simple to understand.
With OS template in vCenter in short time you able to make new Virtual Machine as your requirement,
Single Sign-On (SSO) this feature is allow you authentication against multiple user repositories as your Active Directory. Also host profiling is good feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
In previous version in vCenter 6 has client applications for vCenter management which is more easiest to current web based version of vCenter 6.5
Secondly, need to minimize cost for small environment who running just 2 or 3 host. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
For me, it's ease of use. I'm not the primary administrator, but 6.0 and the included web client provides me all of the resources I need to do my job without headaches. I'm the company DB/BI manager so I have a small subset of VMs that I manage, but I can't remember a time where I've had to spend any time on a forum or with support because vCenter wasn't performing. I see where they're going with the web client, but I still prefer the thick client. While all of the feature set I need is in the web client, it just feels slower than the thick client. The primary admins of our VMWare environment dislike the web client enough to not upgrade to 6.5. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
EL problema de Vmware es el alto coste económico de la licencia comercial necesaria para su uso.
Es posible encontrar alternativas igualmente válidas y similares en rendimiento en el mundo del software libre, que son gratuitas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love that fact I can go from host to host just by clicking on the drop down, I don't have to have a number of different tabs open to switch between them I can just access the one vcenter instance to control them all Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
it isn't easy to setup, it took us a couple of months to get a good understanding of it and integrate this with SSO and a new of other features. the SSO did come very useful but it take alot of work to setup and Vcenter documentation wasn't that easy to follow Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We are using vCenter 6.5 to manage over 1000 servers mostly windows. Creating templates makes it very easy to deploy servers in minutes. Dash board is great to manage the VM's as well as monitoring. Great reporting tools as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not many issues I can think of. I do prefer the older versions over the web based which I find it little harder to browse.. initial setup and configurations could be difficult for some folks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have a lot of configuration options on vcenter, from a virtual machine to ESXi HA Cluster. Its user interface is very friendly and easy to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is a bit expensive compared to other vendors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Being able to quickly and efficiently manage VM tasks is crucial. Managing deployment/backups/updates is all incredibly simple. Snapshots make roll back and disaster recovery a non-issue. Reporting and monitoring tools allow us to view our environments at a glance and set threshold standards for performance and operation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've personally not encountered anything that I dislike. My experience utilizing vCenter has always been a positive one. For the bugs I have encountered, support was able to quickly walk me through correcting them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
vCenter is a very easy to use system that lets admin users take control of their virtual enviroment, permission levels can be setup to limit access to users / groups and the system even allows AD sign in, within the vCenter you can control, setup and configure all your virutal machines, storage spaces, networking setups and lots more Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to get confused and lost if not aware of what you are doing and due to the power of the system incorrect usage may cause downtime, sometimes the system 'assumes' you are doing stuff without question such as clicking to reboot or stop a VM, sometimes the system just does it as requested Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
we are able to consolidate hardware and provide needed servers for our agency. It also helps with management of those servers. we have also been able to cut our over all cost to manage the servers including migrating servers as needed and building new servers in VMware vs physical servers. We reduced the need for a consultant to build every time we needed a new server. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The pricing structure for us as we are a not for profit and would like to have more features but we can not afford to do so. We use a lower version and do not have Vmotion which would enable us to move from server to server again this is because of the cost of the upgrade. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the HTML 5 web client that comes with vCentre. That you can manage your entire server infrastructure using your favourite browser. All VMware products are very reliable and robust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't like the fact that the login needs a domain like @vsphere.xxx which in many situations the person setting up the vCentre environment will forget to document. Price is a bit high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Very great virtual machine management. Highly recommended. The user interface is great. Very useful if you want to consolidate your physical servers, which helps save space and energy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much to dislike about this product. I have nothing to comment here. It just works and really does it's job. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I really like this software because it makes it easy to manage ESXi servers like: application updates and configurations of Esxi server cluster environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don't have any problems with this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
vCenter works pretty well for managing multiple ESXi boxes. In reality, it is the only choice you have. It's easy to add licenses, hosts, create clusters of said hosts, add datastores, etc. The new HTML5 gui is pretty great! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Here's what I dislike about vCenter:
- There's now the desktop vSphere client, the web (Flash) vSphere client, and now, the web (HTML5) client. None of these are 100%. They should've focussed on one client and made it awesome.
- Managing permissions for who can deploy VMs, access datastores, etc. is painful. Be prepared to spend a week of your time on getting permissions right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The ease of setup and installation of the initial appliance is great. We've been running Vcenter since 5.5 and have had minimal issues with stability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Overall the handling of logs and the way it keeps track of servers can cause an issue. We've encountered in 6.0 and 6.5 issues where hosts would just stop speaking to the vcenter. After some research we learned that this is a known bug and there are no fixes for it at this time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Flexibility and it is easy to use like I said this is first time I am working on it and since first day I was very much hands on to it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
so far no point for dislike but maybe speed Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
