**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Food & Beverages | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2021

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

I like upserver because its artificial intelligence potential can repair order guidance sectors, value extensions of internal control of assisted programming orders, systematization of sales code reading, intuitive backups of local analysis methodologies, processing of negotiation percentages in the cloud, independent management of a collaborative interface, Robust browsing opportunities performance training, pre-determined coupon applications, electronic payment ticket references, online order authentication, automatic menu exchanges, email-driven fault reports, frequent purchase card credit assignments, are recognized as part of the best tools demonstrated by this network server.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

The upserver software at my company has been deconfigured due to a business support error, where not all meal delivery orders are made in real time, as some tend to be delayed due to a failure of organizational order dimensions, and decreases in operational relevance through the restaurant's online digital sales portal are beginning to emerge, making customers tend to prefer to link their orders to a direct server in relation to the main panel of the nearest branch, which represents an uncoordinated follow-up of purchases via the Internet, so a professional financing presentation molding activation should be incorporated to grant orders easily and quickly.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

I recommend the features included in the upserver's programming since its order prioritization scheme, product delivery tracking, proven billing source planning, restaurant homepage design assistance, computerized mobile access distinctions, alternative customer documentation management, grouped inventory extensions, separation of commercial reports of qualified sales, opening of unified deliveries for the transference of scores of attention to the client, activation of managers of restoration of portfolios of negotiation, formats of accounting of costs, distribution of prices of the gastronomic area, systematization of automatic points of sale, they develop the capacity of purchase of the users within my food trade.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upserver in my company is part of the unique and personalized e-commerce control management of my company, where thanks to its base operation, I can establish customer service molding patterns in a robotic way with pre-determined answers for my clients' doubts, fast food payment transaction dialing, structured worldwide gastronomic relevance from different countries, Management of permits for the qualification of resources for the anticipated visualization of dishes incorporated to the menu of my restaurant, procedures for the purchase of liquors with prioritization of financial laws, incorporation of discounts and personalized price offers, are part of the incredible level of negotiation induced by this programming in relation to my gastronomic work.

The app for our ipad works fine - the initial installation was fast. We have created all tables and can now make payments very quickly. The quick function for splitting invoices is very helpful and makes our work easier.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Sometimes there are connection failures and payments have to be made again - especially the swipe function does not always work.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can analyze our payments and orders in the restaurant in detail. The detailed reports show me how good our turnover is and I can also forward this data to our accountant. The management with our tablets works very well.

The vague details as to why terminals are in Offline Mode.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upserve has solved accessibility issues we have had in the past. Their system is an all around easy functioning POS, on the front end and on the back. It has benefitted us by offering forced, and non forced modifiers. It allows you to personalize all items.

  ### 14. Easy to use!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather H. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 26, 2020

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

The best thing about Upserve is how user friendly it is. Easy to find products and create new payments types. Customer services are helpful and supportive. Menu setup is easy and intuitive. I like how you can copy an item and change items within seconds. The staff are able to use the program in training mode to become efficient using the product prior to service.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Would like some better back-end reporting options like searching for the last 4 digits of a credit card when trying to find a particular transaction. There are times that the system goes down and while it is easy to use in offline mode, it is frustrating that it went down so often. It seems that this problem has be fixed recently.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

If you are looking for effective, easy to use POS system at an affordable price, I would recommend this product.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Upserve makes service quick and easy for staff. When onboarding new staff, they are able to pick up the system within a day or two which makes it easy for them to move forward with training.

  ### 15. The Best POS Decision For Your Restaurant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospitality | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 22, 2019

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Server Data Feature - being able to pinpoint areas of opportunity via category sales and table turn times is key to training and increasing the bottom line. The fact that this system is cloud-based is HUGE. No more back office computer to work with - I am able to update/change menu items on the fly for my staff even when I'm not on site. I love that support is 24/7 with real people via chat or phone.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Offline Mode - this is a difficult subject, as I haven't really found a better solution to be honest, but only being able to work off of one ipad when we're slammed just isn't feasible. You are unable to schedule happy hour/special pricing/discounts for certain times. The work around is creating duplicate items priced accordingly and placing them on a menu that is scheduled to show up at a certain time - this makes reporting surround item sales difficult to track. Additionally, even though the menu you create only shows up at a certain time, those discounted items are always available via search function.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

Look at the contract terms of competitors closely. Many other POS have great pricing up front or may offer to pay for your equipment to make it seem like a no-brainer, but then in your contract will have a clause to raise all costs after a short time and make it near impossible to get out. Realize that no POS will be perfect, but support is the best redeeming factor in that - Upserve Support has proven time and again that they are superior.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Theft - being able to identify staff discounting and voiding items without reason. Knowing your servers strengths to be able to coach and increase sales appropriately. Knowing more about your guests to be able to establish and increase your regular crowd. Knowing which menu items actually bring guests back through the door.

  ### 16. User friendly POS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandra J. | Business Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2019

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

The program is very intuitive and user friendly. Easy to make changes on the fly at the iPad or from a computer. I've worked with other POS systems, and Upserve is so simple and easy to understand.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Sometimes because the program runs on IOS there are problems related the IOS software updates. The tech team is usually pretty good about resolving these issues quickly, but there is one issue now that has yet to be resolved and I'm starting to get impatient.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

Go for it. Great product. Highly recommend

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Looking up reports, finding checks, drilling down into our business is very easy using upserve HQ and the Upserve.com app.

  ### 17. Upserve is a great product that makes life a lot easier for restaurants and their staff.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katie K. | Vocalist, Food & Beverages, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2019

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

I love the menu integration. AND the customer service is second to none. They are really doing it right. I love the way I can sort through the data with such specific filters and compare things.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

It's a little challenging to add menus when you first do it, but their team is right there whenever you need them to help out. There are A LOT of features and that was a little overwhelming at first.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

Do not hesitate. This is a great company that is constantly evolving and doing their best to keep up with trends and ease of use for businesses.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to sort sales through many different filters has been a breakthrough for us.

  ### 18. Upserve is Second to None

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kolby G. | General Manager, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

I like the fact that the system works completely while in offline mode, the back office functionality is excellent and the it incredibly easy for a new-hire to be fully versed.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

I dislike the fact that the table view shows all tables currently open instead of only tables opened by the logged in user.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

If you are considering switching you should go ahead and use it. You will NOT find a better POS system out there.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had a huge problem with our old system (Aireus) when there were any internet issues. The fact that we can still take orders, send orders and close checks while in offline mode is excellent. And any offline mode issues are typically resolved within moments.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a simple way for different parts of the establishment to communicate on orders and stocks while also being a tool to track work hours and responsibilities.

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

With Upserve, it is a reliable, honest company with a solid POS system.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

I haven't used too many POS systems in the past, but this one works well.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

I don't have a lot of experience with other POS systems, but Upserve has been great for us.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is really hard to say, but I do like the ease of use and intuitive nature of their POS system.

  ### 38. Great Customer Service and Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Greg D. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2019

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Really enjoy the reporting generated showing insights and comparisons to previous time periods and return customers.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

I wish there was an app that can be used for Upserve credit card processing customers that do not use breadcrumb.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have to pay credit card processing fees either way. Upserve delivers competive pricing along with more insight into business.

  ### 39. pretty easy to use nice interface

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

the interface is pretty and it is pretty easy to use

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

its a little counterintuitive and unclear when you hit "send" and the tickets are ugly when you print them out

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

good for different toppings and customizing orders

  ### 40. Great POS System App for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cameron S. | Barista, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 22, 2018

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

What I like best about Breadcrumb is the ease of use and the aesthetic properties that make it stand out. Everything is clear and clutter-free.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

The only thing about Breadcrumb that I dislike would be that you cannot edit employee profiles on the app itself.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

My recommendations to others using Breadcrumb would be to be patient with it when you first start out; it can take a little getting used to since it's different than other POS apps, but it's worth it! It's a great app.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some of the benefits of using Breadcumb have been that customers are more likely to leave a tip when paying with a credit card since that is an option.

  ### 41. You need this.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2018

Bread crumb is a simple set up that allows for workers to type in information efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

I wish the log in system was differently.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bread crumb has solved long ticket times. It’s cut down down it takes to ring orders by the easy structure.

  ### 42. Very powerful for your restaurant

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Tons of ways to slice your restaurant data, they recently introduced their own point of sale

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

It takes a couple of days to get used to the system, but once you do is really powerful

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Business tracking for your restaurant

Clock in. Ring up. Charge customers. Clock out.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Hard to transfer tabs to other employees.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Inventory control. Time clock control.

  ### 44. Mostly positive,

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa M. | Owner, Retail, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 09, 2017

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

User friendly interface. Responsive tech support when I've needed them. I like the timesheet tracking. I like that it's possible to track inventory cost, though I don't put that in accurately, since many of my items are "copied" from old items so this number is inaccurate.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Recent server issue cost us $ (but they are very responsible and will compensate). The system sometimes is clunky. I wish I could remove old inventory easily. My staff and I get confused between the differences of "course" and "category" and "display groups". The system has been having some problems going into offline mode recently.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefit over not having a POS is obvious. The benefit over other POS systems? I'm unsure as Breadcrumb is the only restaurant POS I have ever used.

  ### 45. Extremely intuitive iPad POS system that keeps open bar tabs!

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Extremely intuitive and easy to use; easy to train new staff members on. Easy to open/close tabs. Easy to add new terminals. Offline mode has been vital to us when we have ISP issues -- everyone can keep moving and our business does not stop. Finding a nice looking interface with decent reporting that also kept open tabs (such a simple thing -- but many systems are retail focused) was actually pretty difficult.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Can't discount single items. When comping items, there is no tax accounted for, and no tip option. I wish there was an option for some kind of ongoing trade account that we could reconcile (tipped/taxed). When our iPads die, it's a pretty expensive fix. We jumped on early in Breadcrumb's infancy and now our iPad stands/swipers are no longer made, so we are forced to upgrade. You must subscribe to Upserve Pro for the EMV reader to work--so if that's an issue, it becomes expensive. So far it has not been a dealbreaker with us, but may become an issue in the future.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Breadcrumb helped us become more efficient with our merchandise inventory. We are able to track comps effectively and eliminate a lot of the giveaways that were happening. There is server accountability. We no longer come to a complete stop when the internet goes down!

**Official Response from Kaylen Little:**

> Hi Melissa,

Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re happy to hear you find Breadcrumb POS by Upserve easy to use and very intuitive. Offline mode was definitely one of our proudest features to roll out, and we’re glad it’s working well there.

Discounting single items is a feature request we’ve received from our clients quite a bit, and we’ll be happy to add this feature request again for you to add to its demand. There is actually a way to track taxes on comps by going to HQ > Settings > Tax and checking off the box to track taxes on comps. For an ongoing trade account, it’s possible to create something like that in “Other Tenders.”

We understand how frustrating it is as technology continues to grow at an extremely fast rate. We do have swipers still available on our online store for the earlier iPad models, and stands for those models could be found through 3rd party sources.

We strive to improve our product and services here at Upserve, and we greatly appreciate your honest feedback. We truly value your business as a customer of Breadcrumb POS by Upserve.

  ### 46. Ups and Downs

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ryan W. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2016

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Breadcrumb is very easy to use and easy to teach. It was a breeze for the staff to become accustomed and then efficient with it. All the setup is very easy as well. As for back end/reporting, it is adequate especially for the price and as compared to most other iPad based POS systems.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Over the 2.5 years we've been using it, we've had a lot of ups and downs. Initially, we loved Breadcrumb, then there was a several month phase where it went offline way too often plus various other errors in reporting and sales numbers. In general, Support was awful--hard or impossible to get a hold of, and usually unhelpful. We almost switched to another POS. However, this past year things seem to be a bit better. Breadcrumb still could use some improvements in functionality, and Support still isn't perfect, but it appears that Upserve has improved things overall.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

If you're looking for an inexpensive, easy-to-use POS for iPad, this is the best one we found. Back-end/reporting is adequate and certainly better than most of it's kind. Hopefully the acquisition by Upserve will continue in a positive direction.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Just POS stuff really. The major benefits are ease of use and training.

**Official Response from Kaylen Little:**

> Thank you for your review and thank you for being a valued customer as we continue to grow and improve. We're pleased to hear that you have seen improvements after the acquisition of Breadcrumb and would like you to know that your dedicated account manager will be reaching out to hear about some of the feature improvements that you think would be beneficial to Breadcrumb. Thanks again for your review and we hope you have a great holiday season.

  ### 47. Great for restaurants

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erica H. | Cafe Manager, Food & Beverages, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Back office has a lot of great features and insights. Very easy to understand and hand over to accountant for end of year tax purposes.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

Very tedious to modify menu items and prices and add on to the menu screen.
Not convenient for fast service places and my version did not have the option to sign in the iPad it self it had to print out a receipt and was inconvenient when guest just wanted coffee to go.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

If your a restaurant and want to facilitate your end of day and end of month sales this system is great. If you have more than 2 employees it will keep track of hours and the sales each employee made. Not recommend to small cafes.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

End of month sales are a breeze it basically does all the accounting for you. And keeps employee hours in record. They are able to clock in and out very easily and the dual position available to the same employee was a great add on. They are able to use the same code to clock in for 2 different positions.

**Official Response from Kaylen Little:**

> Hi Erica - Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoy our back office features and find them to be very insightful. Your account is a priority to us and your account manager is looking forward to a call to discuss areas of improvement when it comes to quick service establishments. Thanks again for your review and have a great holiday season.

  ### 48. Affordable POS system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alex S. | COO, Restaurants, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 29, 2016

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

We like that the system is very easy to use. Very intuitive, and requires minimal training.
Reports are great, although sometimes limited.
We like the offline mode. This has improved a lot since the first time we used it.
We like the Breadcrumb Live app, gives us info we need to run the restaurant easier.
System reliability has been getting a lot better.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

We don't like the poor customer service we get from the company.
We have opened cases and we get no response at all, we have to call and check on the status of the cases and they haven't been reviewed by the account manager or support people.
We don't like the lack of hardware options and functions. We need more swipers, more mounts, etc... that we can choose from.
We need more flexible reporting.
Updates with functionality changes take forever or never come.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

this is the first time we have been asked to give feedback about the product.
You need to contact people from small business that are willing to help you to make this product better.
When I read the "cases" you post online, it is always from a NYC or San Fransisco restaurant. reach out to other markets. Please.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solved, for now, having a POS system that is affordable. We fixed payroll issues. We fixed inventory issues. We just need more integrations with different partners (online orders, gift cards, accounting, etc...)
For now it works and has solved many issues for us.

**Official Response from Kaylen Little:**

> Hi Alex - Thank you for your review. It’s customers like you that help us continue to grow and improve. We're glad you enjoy the usability and functionality of the Breadcrumb system and it's especially nice to hear that you can see us working hard to improve the product! We also understand our support team still has room for improvement – we're very aware of this and are making changes everyday to grow and appreciate your feedback.

If you ever have questions on how to utilize our product, please feel free to reach out directly to your dedicated account manager with any questions. The Account Success team is growing here as well, which should enable us to give better attention to our businesses. Thanks again for your review and feedback!

  ### 49. Super simple/intuitive POS

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

Breadcrumb is a great POS for any bar/restaurant. The ability to start tabs that hold credit card info is great, as many folks don't like giving their card! Having the option of visual and list open tabs is nice. I'm a fan.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

I wish there was a "To-go tab classification option.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Being able to switch open tabs to different servers is helpful.

  ### 50. Breadcrumb POS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Restaurants | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2016

**What do you like best about Upserve?**

It is very user friendly. From management standpoint the reports are easy to read with all the info you need.

**What do you dislike about Upserve?**

You can't split items on a check. Making separate checks for a large party is a bit of a hassle. Too many steps to make this an easy fast transaction. The auto goat is before tax and you can't change it. Programming for the menus is a bit tedious with unnecessary info required. You have to go back to the main menu page every time you make one change. It should be easier to navigate through than it is. Also having an internet based system is at times unreliable, if the system goes down the POS is still supposed to run smoothly but it doesn't.

**Recommendations to others considering Upserve:**

It's a good system. It is not perfect but it is better than average.

**What problems is Upserve solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Trying to improve business by driving sales and increasing business volume. The old Breadcrumb had an app for your phone where you could access real time sales data from anywhere. That was my favorite. I don't know why the new Breadcrumb didn't continue to utilize this valuable app.

**Official Response from Kaylen Little:**

> Thank you for leaving us a review and we appreciate you taking the time to do so! We're glad you find the system user friendly but also hear some of the concerns you're having regarding splitting items, programming menus, etc. For any questions related to your menu or functionality of the system, I encourage you to reach out to your dedicated account manager who can help answer any questions you might have. We also have a 24/7/365 support line, who can help point you in the right direction. Lastly, we do have a mobile app that allows you to see what's going on in your restaurant even if you're not there! This is a feature of our Smart Management Assistant, which you can learn more about through your account manager. If you'd prefer, please feel free to respond to this message with your name and restaurant name, and I can find out who your account manager is. Thanks and we look forward to our continued partnership!
