What is Upserve, and what problem is it built to solve?

Upserve is a restaurant management platform built to help restaurateurs streamline operations, improve customer experiences, and manage business performance. It brings together restaurant tools such as point of sale, analytics, inventory management, and employee scheduling.

What company sizes and industries is Upserve the best fit for?

Upserve is best represented among small businesses, particularly restaurant and hospitality operators. The reviewer-reported fit clusters around these segments:
  • Company size: Small businesses.
  • Industry: Restaurants, food and beverage, and hospitality.

How long does it take to implement Upserve across a team?

Implementation is most commonly reported as taking less than a month, with some teams getting live in under a day and others taking longer. The reported timing clusters are:
Time to go live Relative frequency
Less than 1 month Most common
Less than 1 day Also reported
1–3 months Less common

What customer support options does Upserve provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

The support experience is uneven. Users describe helpful, responsive support, but others report trouble reaching the team, slow follow-up, or less satisfactory help after launch.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Upserve from another tool?

Switching to Upserve has meant moving from older, hardware-based or less restaurant-focused systems toward a cloud-based POS with more accessible reporting and simpler day-to-day use. Prior systems mentioned include legacy restaurant platforms such as Aloha and Micros, as well as other POS tools like Square, Lavu, Clover, and SpotOn. Users value the easier menu updates, staff training, and access to business data, though the transition has not always been smooth and reliability or support issues can complicate the change.

What features or capabilities could make Upserve even more useful?

The most useful improvements would make common restaurant workflows more flexible and reduce friction in setup and daily operations. Recurring requests include:
  • Make it easier to split individual items across checks and manage open tabs, seats, and table workflows.
  • Simplify menu setup and support more flexible scheduling for specials and price changes.
  • Expand reporting options, including more customizable reports and easier access to transaction details.
  • Improve offline reliability and connectivity so service is less disrupted when networks or systems have problems.
  • Add or strengthen integrations for areas such as accounting, payroll, and online ordering.

"Easy to use!"
4/5
What do you like best about Upserve?

The best thing about Upserve is how user friendly it is. Easy to find products and create new payments types. Customer services are helpful and supportive. Menu setup is easy and intuitive. I like how you can copy an item and change items within seconds. The staff are able to use the program in training mode to become efficient using the product prior to service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Upserve?

Would like some better back-end reporting options like searching for the last 4 digits of a credit card when trying to find a particular transaction. There are times that the system goes down and while it is easy to use in offline mode, it is frustrating that it went down so often. It seems that this problem has be fixed recently. "The Best POS Decision For Your Restaurant"
5/5
What do you like best about Upserve?

Server Data Feature - being able to pinpoint areas of opportunity via category sales and table turn times is key to training and increasing the bottom line. The fact that this system is cloud-based is HUGE. No more back office computer to work with - I am able to update/change menu items on the fly for my staff even when I'm not on site. I love that support is 24/7 with real people via chat or phone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Upserve?

Offline Mode - this is a difficult subject, as I haven't really found a better solution to be honest, but only being able to work off of one ipad when we're slammed just isn't feasible. You are unable to schedule happy hour/special pricing/discounts for certain times. The work around is creating duplicate items priced accordingly and placing them on a menu that is scheduled to show up at a certain time - this makes reporting surround item sales difficult to track. Additionally, even though the menu you create only shows up at a certain time, those discounted items are always available via search function. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User friendly POS"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Upserve?

The program is very intuitive and user friendly. Easy to make changes on the fly at the iPad or from a computer. I've worked with other POS systems, and Upserve is so simple and easy to understand. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Upserve?

Sometimes because the program runs on IOS there are problems related the IOS software updates. The tech team is usually pretty good about resolving these issues quickly, but there is one issue now that has yet to be resolved and I'm starting to get impatient. What do you dislike about Upserve?

It's a little challenging to add menus when you first do it, but their team is right there whenever you need them to help out. There are A LOT of features and that was a little overwhelming at first. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The simplicity of contributing new item or altering existing item is extraordinary. The help group is responsive and supportive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
