What is Smartsheet, and what problem is it built to solve?

Smartsheet is an enterprise platform for dynamic work. It helps organizations align people and technology to manage and automate processes across departments and use cases.

What languages does Smartsheet support?

Smartsheet supports 8 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and others.

What company sizes and industries is Smartsheet the best fit for?

Smartsheet’s strongest fit appears across small, mid-market, and enterprise organizations, with positive use spanning several industries.
  • Small businesses: Teams with 50 or fewer employees, including substantial use in construction and consulting.
  • Mid-market: Organizations with 51–1,000 employees, with use across construction, healthcare, and financial services.
  • Enterprise: Organizations with more than 1,000 employees, including users in pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and information technology.

How long does it take to implement Smartsheet across a team?

Implementation timelines range from a day or less to several months, with one to three months the most common reported range.
Time to go live Relative frequency
1–3 months Most common
Less than 1 month, including same-day setup Also reported
3–6 months Also reported

What customer support options does Smartsheet provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Smartsheet support includes self-service resources, email/help desk, and chat. The experience varies: users find learning resources and help useful, while others describe slow responses or difficulty getting clear, effective assistance.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Smartsheet from another tool?

Switching to Smartsheet is often about bringing project work, updates, and collaboration into one shared system instead of relying on separate spreadsheets, email, or fragmented tools. Users describe moving from Excel and Microsoft project tools, Google-based tools, and other project or work-management platforms; they value better visibility, online collaboration, automation, and flexibility, though the transition can involve learning the platform and adapting existing data or workflows.

What tools and platforms does Smartsheet integrate with, and how do these integrations help users get more value from the product?

Smartsheet offers 102 integrations, helping teams connect project information with familiar collaboration, office, and reporting tools.
  • Office and file collaboration: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Box, and Google Workspace.
  • Project coordination: Jira, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Reporting and analytics: Power BI.
In daily use, these connections can keep project plans, team communications, and reporting closer together, reducing the need to move between tools or manually recreate updates.

What features or capabilities could make Smartsheet even more useful?

Smartsheet could be more useful with improvements to formula work, complex-sheet performance, and the flexibility of reports and dashboards.
  • Make formulas more capable and easier to build, particularly for teams accustomed to spreadsheet functions.
  • Improve speed and responsiveness when working with large sheets and linked data.
  • Add more control over dashboard visuals, charts, and report formatting.
  • Make advanced workflow setup and automation more flexible and straightforward.

How useful do Smartsheet users find its AI features in everyday use?

Smartsheet’s AI is useful for some routine tasks, but its value varies and the results may need review. Users describe using AI to help with formulas, summaries, and creating or organizing work; others find it basic, inconsistent, or not yet dependable for more complex tasks.

"Smartsheet Needs a Little Something"
5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

The collaboration between team members is made more accessible and accountability skyrockets with formalised teams and grouping Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

It does not differentiate itself enough from alternatives like a google sheets program, Collaboration is good, but the actual data manipulation etc is outdated and with a short list of API's smartsheet is also difficult and becomes an "extra step" for companies that use POS systems that dont link up to smartsheet, or even smartsheet is unable to take a report and plot data according to matching row or column indicators. "Flexible Project Management with Powerful Automation and Dashboards"
4/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

The flexibility to manage projects at any scale is what stands out most. The spreadsheet-style interface makes it easy for teams to adopt quickly, while features like automated workflows, Gantt charts, and dashboards add powerful project management capability on top. Automation rules have cut down manual follow-ups significantly, and dashboards give stakeholders clear visibility without needing a separate reporting tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

The mobile app experience isn't as smooth as the desktop version, which makes on-the-go updates a bit inconvenient. Advanced formulas and automation setups also have a steep learning curve for new users, often requiring extra time or training to get the most out of them. Additionally, pricing at higher tiers can add up for larger teams needing more advanced features and user licenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Reliable Central Hub That Keeps Projects Organized and Easy to Track"
5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

I feel like it helps consolidate all of our business into one central hub, which makes it much easier to keep track of our projects instead of having to jump all over the place. We are in the process of integrating it to other tools we used on our day to day basis, its been greate to keep our heavy workloads separate and not feel as overwhelm as before when we didnt had so its been reliable, i feel like its been worthy to get the program, also is easier for our trainees to understand the program i havent really use much out of the Artificial intelligence just yet but im pretty sure we can attach it to our new updated reports system the few time i have used it it its been pretty straight foward and easy to read Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

The only thing I dislike is that we can’t change the theme to a darker color. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to Find Worksheets, but Search Needs Partial Matching"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

It's easier to find things, you can search using the search bar or look through the worksheets, using their names. It makes my workflow easier as I'm not spending time looking for things in different places. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

The only thing I dislike is that you can't search partial things - to find something you have to have the full word or it won't search for it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The helpfulness of smartsheet"
5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

It allows me to stay organized, and the ability to create a dashboard for a quick view of projects is helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

It can be not easy when trying to create formulas, and it seems to function similarly to excel but does not allow to utilize columns that same way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smartsheet Makes Multi-Site Project Tracking and Collaboration Effortless"
5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

I like how Smartsheet keeps the familiar spreadsheet feel of Excel while adding real-time collaboration, automated workflows, and built-in reporting. It’s been especially useful for tracking multi-site projects, managing dependencies, and sharing live status updates with clients and contractors, without the hassle of constant file exchanges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

From my perspective, the main drawbacks are that Smartsheet’s scheduling and resource tools aren’t as powerful as Primavera P6 for complex programs, and some advanced reporting or custom workflows need higher-tier plans or clever workarounds. For large multi-trade engineering projects, I sometimes end up combining it with Excel or other tools to get the detail I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Setup and Team-Wide Visibility, but AI Falls Short"
2.5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

I like how Smartsheet centralizes documents, comments, and feedback so the whole team can access them instead of relying on private emails. The grid and reporting help me find things and generate ideas and solutions from context clues my team leaves behind. Smartsheet also tells a story compared to a regular filing system, and the initial setup was easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

I find Smartsheet’s AI more of a nuisance; it underperforms and isn’t really needed. I’d rather see resources go toward a more robust PMOS, and I’d like the AI to be individually trained for our organization. My current account rep is of no use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Project Tracking, Steep Learning Curve"
4/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

I use Smartsheet for my work to show project progress, overall budget, man-days, and finance like invoicing schedules. What I like most is that it's easy to update. The project plan is clear, and I like how you can click to expand or minimize project phases. The color coded financial agenda is really helpful. I also switched from Excel because I wanted a dashboard feature and to be able to tag people in tasks, which Smartsheet gives me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

{"I don't like that Smartsheet doesn't auto-save; sometimes I close the tab without pressing the save button.","It's happened once or twice and I've learnt it the hard way to always press save.","I found it actually quite challenging to learn all the different features and what each tab leads to. It took me around 3-4 months to familiarize and be comfortable with Smartsheet."} Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible Project Management and Execution Tool"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

What I like most about Smartsheet is its flexibility for project planning and execution. I can manage schedules, task trackers, procurement activities, risks, progress, and responsibilities in one place. The Gantt views and dashboards make it easy to see project status and identify delays or pending actions. I also find the collaboration and sharing features useful when coordinating between different teams, while the spreadsheet-like interface makes it easy to adopt without extensive training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

One area that could be improved is the complexity of some advanced features and configurations. As projects become larger and workflows more detailed, setting up automation, reports, and cross-sheet dependencies can require additional effort and a learning curve. Some features could also be more intuitive and easier to configure for new users. More flexible customization and simpler setup of advanced workflows would make Smartsheet even more effective for complex project environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible Tool That Enhances Project Management"
5/5
What do you like best about Smartsheet?

I find Smartsheet very powerful and flexible. It significantly improves how we manage projects and track our deliverables. It allows us to collaborate across teams and the interface is very user-friendly, resembling a spreadsheet. I like the automation part of it, the dashboards, the forms, and the reporting capabilities. The flexibility of Smartsheet is its biggest strength, allowing for customization in project management, PMO governance, task tracking, and business process automation. It's simple and easy to implement, with great integration capabilities that I really like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Smartsheet?

Certain administrative and reporting functions could be more intuitive. Sometimes it can be slow when handling large data. Certain advanced features like the hierarchy structuring and advanced filtering options could be improved, especially when building dashboards. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
