  ### 2. Professional services reviewer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** shivaraj k. | Prfoessional services reviewer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

Smarsh Professional Archive provides a robust information of communication channels like mails or any chat platform. We can work easily on surveillance and compliance as required by the regulatory authorities of designated countries. The alerts are ingested on a daily basis in a system and can be picked up by the team and work on them as per individual time convivence.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

Sometimes ProArc hangs to load the alerts which affects our daily volumes. The AI feature that is enabled in the system can improve providing more relevant information on the alerts.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The Smarsh Professional archive platform solves the regularity requirements set by the governing government bodies in surveilling the monitored platforms which includes emails and chat platforms.

  ### 3. Smooth Onboarding and Implementation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

The platform offers an easy search function, and I appreciated the excellent onboarding experience. The transition from sales to accounting, and then to onboarding and implementation, was smooth throughout. Customer support was great and always available. I use the platform daily and i take advantages of all the great features such as the vast policy library. Integration was smooth and operations never disturbed.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

In my opinion, this issue is more of a widespread industry problem than something unique to Smarsh. There will inevitably be false positives when it comes to supervision.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smarsh is addressing a lexicon-specific issue that we experienced with our previous vendor. By leveraging AI and distinctive features, they are able to minimize false positives and concentrate solely on genuine compliance violations.

  ### 4. Reliable archiving solution with room for usability improvements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

Smarsh Professional Archive provides peace of mind by ensuring our firm’s communications are fully captured and stored in compliance with regulatory requirements. The system is reliable and integrates smoothly with email and messaging platforms, which reduces operational risk. I also appreciate that searches return accurate results, which is critical when responding to audits or internal reviews.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

The interface feels dated and is not as intuitive as it could be, which slows down everyday use. Some searches take longer than expected, and exporting data isn’t always as seamless as it should be. Customer support is generally responsive, but resolution times can vary depending on the complexity of the issue.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smarsh Professional Archive helps us meet SEC and FINRA compliance requirements by automatically capturing, archiving, and retaining all business communications. This reduces regulatory risk and provides an auditable record when examiners or internal teams request information. The platform makes supervision and review more efficient, cutting down time spent on manual tracking and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. It ultimately provides peace of mind that our firm is both compliant and well-prepared for audits.

  ### 5. Took a hit and bounced back stronger...

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

I am more of a self-driven type of individual where I would prefer to read documentation, create and break and test my own work rather than rely on support or an implementation specialist a lot of the time. Smarsh has everything, they have the documentation and information for you to go as fast as you want, but also have the support there when you need it.

The support team is one of the best in the industry, I would compare them to an "Apple-level" expertise on their product, which is uncommon in today's industry.

The company took a hit with the data breach, but handled it extremely well and kept customers up to date. That's a proven trust that only adversity can show you. I trust Smarsh.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

This isn't really product related per say but is adjacent to it. The merger between Telemessage and Smarsh was brutal on us. There was very little information being shared and a lot of uncertainty during the time. We unfortunately were deploying a couple of services in the middle of it and it was confusing during onboarding on what we were trying to do. The self-service option is awesome, but when we were just starting out we needed a bit more assistance and it was tough to get it.

In terms of the console and product itself, I would just say that for the iMessage capture you should think about virtualizing your Mac Mini's if you can to reduce costs and thus price for you customers.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In my industry, compliance and regulations are of upmost importance, Priority 0. In that same lane, the capturing and securing of communications is the most important thing. With more and more options on how to collaborate and communicate with each other, I need a solution that is agnostic and adaptable in what it can capture on what medium. I could not do my job without Smarsh. At the same time, being able to deploy bleeding-edge technology that is compliant (such as iMessage capture) would both put my firm in a better regulatory position, as well as let me tell a story about how our firm is "tech forward" and "bleeding edge". So not only do I get to reduce the cycles that are needed to complete my work, I also look good by recommending and deploying Smarsh products. It's a symbiotic relationship.

  ### 6. A useful tool for Risk and Compliance Evaluation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mayank g. | Senior Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

The best part about Smarsh Vendor Risk Management is that the tool is very easy to use and is quite flexible. The tool helps in managing Risk management process related to third parties. Integration of the tool is smooth and it's user friendly.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

The only dislike about the tool is that the cost of the tool is higher as compared to the other solutions in the market. Also some challenges with their Customer Support.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smarsh Vendor Risk Management enables businesses to identify, assess and mitigate the potential issues, eventually reducing the risks associated with business operations. This is benefitting businesses since it helps in identifying risks that might involve data breaches, finance etc.

  ### 7. Great Product and Customer Service!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kellie C. | Financial and Operations Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

I like the easy of navigation, and I really like the visual layout. Super easy to perform searches.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

It is still difficult to understand how policies and queues work (Smarsh employees act like it's very simple and that any one can grasp the concept and how to create them, but in reality is it much more difficult to understand and create.). Also, importing data, it would be nice to have more help with getting our external data into Smarsh (like Teams).

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Complying with our requirements for record retention and supervising communications.

  ### 8. Great platform that makes compliance easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emily G. | Operations Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 11, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

Smarsh is easy to use with lots of features that you can customize to meet your compliance needs. Onboarding and integration was super quick and painless. Any questions have been answered by customer support and have helped us customize our account to best fit our needs.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

Sometimes loading can take awhile if i am looking up a large amount of emails but that has never been a serious issue.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

-Storage space- we no longer have to print emails and keep physical copies
- Random sampling decisions- sampling is much more straightforward and chosen for us

  ### 9. Extremely helpful once you understand the capabilities.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew C. | Compliance Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

The system allows for various ways of locating specific emails should something be needed.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

Customer service can be lacking for system issues and they will refer to articles that rarely have the answers to the issue at hand.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Prior to my employment, backup documentation and approvals were not always saved and were kept within emails. The ability to navigate emails with the search function has been extremely helpful.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

Would be nice to be able to configure different daily/weekly email reports for regulatory purposes.

  ### 12. Good email archiving

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James D. | Senior Security Analyst, Consulting, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

  ### 14. More pros than cons

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Investment Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Smarsh?**

Smarsh Capture Mobile has been a great tool for seamlessly capturing mobile communications—calls, texts, and even WhatsApp—ensuring Dodd-Frank and MiFID II compliance. The integration with surveillance tools helps us monitor for potential misconduct while maintaining a defensible audit trail. It's also great for enforcing BYOD policies. When regulators request records, retrieval is quick and reliable. It’s made compliance less of a headache, giving us confidence that our trading conversations are correctly archived. I highly recommend it for any firm needing robust mobile compliance solutions.

Customer support has truly been prompt and exceptional.

**What do you dislike about Smarsh?**

Smarsh Capture Mobile is solid, but retrieval can be slow sometimes, and the interface feels clunky. Also, setting up BYOD compliance took longer than expected. It works, but it’s not perfect.

**What problems is Smarsh solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Smarsh Capture Mobile solves the challenge of regulatory compliance in mobile communications by ensuring calls, texts, and messaging apps like WhatsApp and WeChat are captured and archived, meeting strict regulations like Dodd-Frank, MiFID II, and FCA requirements. This protects our firm from compliance risks, regulatory fines, and trade disputes by maintaining an immutable record of trading conversations. It also helps monitor for misconduct, ensuring transparency in deal negotiations.
