StorageTek has roots going back to the advent of the tape automation industry when the company pivoted to technology to make the business successful. As a result, StorageTek has deep experience in the backup and archival business and not only produces many models of tape libraries but also produces some of the world's largest archival storage units for very prominent customers such as Google! Google is not known to buy many commercial hardware systems, as they like Facebook and many others will produce their hardware system from commodity components. I wouldn't say I like that StorageTek stopped R&D and manufacturing of their tape drive technology. However, it was great that they continued to sell a competitive tape technology focused on the enterprise until the mid-2010s. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
