Frequent Crashes and Data Loss Make It a Risky Choice **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Ronald K. | Practitioner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2026 **What do you like best about Practice Mate by Office Ally?** They have excellent customer support (verbally and screen sharing) during the week, but not on the weekend, Billing component is well integrated for follow-up and secondary billing and finding status of claims, scheduling is easy, Good documentation on how things work, although it is not always up to date. on board, good insurance eligibility evaluation (though it doesn't always work, and it's not clear why). Their assistance in helping with creating sign-in documents is excellent (you must use Word). Patient registration is easy and fast. The ordering of drugs is easy, but if when sending it, which is verified by Surescripts, if the script doesn't go through immediately (i.e., pending), you can't be sure it is going to go through, and you can't cancel a medication that is pending. **What do you dislike about Practice Mate by Office Ally?** The most disturbing problem is that the program is unstable. It crashes all the time, and you lose data, have to re-do everything while patients wait (or on your own time). This alone makes this a risky choice. While they are aware they have this problem, it has not gotten better). The onboarding of lab and radiology tests is a bit confusing unless you use the major labs. So small practices may find this a bit cumbersome. While there are little issues, they go with any software's design. For example, the limitation on file size to 4 MB, limits adding records that are sent to you to about 11 pages, so you have to split it up and do multiple uploads. Occasionally, the uploading process will fail and you have to repeat the entire process all over. **What problems is Practice Mate by Office Ally solving and how is that benefiting you?** It solves entering new patient demographics very easy, it needs a few more customizable fields. Nice way of handling different type of patient appointments and attendance (or lack of). ### 2. PM includes all the features you would need to bill claims to any insurance in any state, paper or electronically. Posting payments are easy and can be tracked efficiently. Patient statements can be created in a PDF for submission by professional statement companies. Reports are clear and concise and can be created in PDF or spreadsheet format. Training is readily available. Upgrades are free and constant as new things come about. **What do you dislike about Practice Mate by Office Ally?** Statements are not generated in the most appealing manor, I send mine out for mailing. Customer service can take a bit long for results. ERAS do not post themselves, but they do come into the payment feature for manual auto posting. **Recommendations to others considering Practice Mate by Office Ally:** If you have a smaller practice with 1-4 providers, this is a great system. Billing companies can have access to all their clinics from one log on or create separate agreements for each. This system can be used with any provider type anywhere in the US. PM training makes it easy to get up and running quickly. **What problems is Practice Mate by Office Ally solving and how is that benefiting you?** PM allows for 24/7 access by all users, if permissions are given. This allows providers to answer some of their own questions. It is easy to train staff, giving more time to productivity. Can be accessed remotely, a big deal in this COVID time. ### 6. It is connected with Office Ally EHR and Service Center. It took me a little to figure out how all of the 3 parts flow together but once you figure it out, it is not hard. They do provide a lot of free training. The customer service rep calls you and teaches you for an hour how to use the system. The training is free. They help you set your practice up. Their service center is free. You only pay $30.00 if you want to use their EHR. Filing claims is free and technically you can use their program for free just for filing claims. They are contracted with 5000 insurance companies, which is pretty awesome. **What do you dislike about Practice Mate by Office Ally?** It took me some time to figure out how all three parts flow together. For example, you make your progress notes in the EHR and use Practice Mate to file claims. There is also service center, which is purely for claim filing. It takes a little bit to learn. **Recommendations to others considering Practice Mate by Office Ally:** Get a lot of training from their technical support **What problems is Practice Mate by Office Ally solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use it for filing claims. I like that I can use one platform for all of the insurance companies. ### 14.
