## About Planview Portfolios
Planview Portfolios is an enterprise strategic portfolio management software solution that helps PMO leaders, portfolio managers, and project teams connect organizational strategy to day-to-day work delivery across programs, resources, and investment decisions from a single platform. Formerly known as Planview Enterprise One, it sits within the strategic portfolio management and project portfolio management software categories and is built for large organizations managing complex, cross-functional initiative portfolios across multiple business units and delivery methodologies simultaneously. For practitioners, the platform provides a structured environment where incoming demand can be evaluated against available capacity, work can be planned and tracked across waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches, and financial performance can be monitored at both the project and portfolio level. Role-based dashboards surface relevant data to each user type — from team members logging time to portfolio leaders reviewing investment performance — without requiring manual report assembly. Key features practitioners interact with regularly include: • Demand and investment management tools that allow teams to collect project and program requests, score them against business objectives, and model prioritization decisions before resources are committed • Scenario planning and what-if analysis capabilities that let portfolio managers compare alternative staffing, timing, and funding configurations to assess trade-offs and adapt plans when strategic priorities shift • Hybrid work delivery support that accommodates waterfall project schedules, agile team planning, and lean portfolio management approaches within the same governance framework — reducing the need for separate tools across delivery teams • Integrated financial tracking including budgeting, forecasting, cost actuals, and agile costing that connect planned spend to actual delivery activity across the full portfolio • Embedded AI capabilities including natural language querying, automated workflow triggers, and sentiment analysis on project status updates that surface emerging risks and reduce manual oversight effort Planview Portfolios connects to enterprise systems including SAP, Salesforce, Workday, ServiceNow, and Microsoft tools, and includes more than 200 out-of-the-box reports and visualizations. Planview’s strategic portfolio management solution empowers enterprise PMOs, EPMOs, transformation leaders, and product portfolio organizations at organizations including FedEx, Dow Chemical, Endress+Hauser, and UPS to navigate their transformation journey, adapt with change, and accelerate on-strategy delivery.

## Planview Portfolios Reviews
  ### 1. Versatile but Needs Better User Roles Management

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lynette P. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Planview Portfolios?**

I use Planview Portfolios for project management, financial management, capacity planning, and resource management. I like that it allows us to create and deliver meaningful dashboards and reporting. The versatility and ability to customize views and extract data, as well as manage all project details within one project entry, really stand out for me. I also appreciate the export feature and the status reporting, as they allow me to look at data in any way I want on the fly. I can easily export it and manipulate it within Power BI, Power Apps, or Excel, which is very convenient.

**What do you dislike about Planview Portfolios?**

I need help with roles and permissions, especially when a single user can have multiple roles. It's hard to set controls on what people can edit without updating roles and permissions for each user. User adoption is slow because most of our users, who are project managers, don't find it easy to use. We also want visibility of supplier-filled roles and there's a lack of a solution for SOW management within the tool. Without an SAP integration, managing actuals is painful.

**What problems is Planview Portfolios solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Planview Portfolios lets me create and deliver meaningful dashboards and reporting, customize views, and manage project details in one entry. I can export data to manipulate in Power BI, Power Apps, or Excel easily.

  ### 2. Strong Portfolio Planning Tools, but a Challenging Interface for Project Managers

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kym G. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Planview Portfolios?**

The ability to Crete portfolios and provide tools for investment and capacity planning

**What do you dislike about Planview Portfolios?**

The interface is not user friendly and is challenging for Project Managers to use when managing a project plan. I have a lot of negative feedback from PMs about the interface for their work. Reports are pretty old school looking, we will likely focus more planview.me for more impactful reports.

**What problems is Planview Portfolios solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our goal is to use it as a strategic portfolio management tool. It's been used for many years as a time tracking tool. Getting utilization metrics is great, but now we need to take that to the next level of planning. We recently introduced the intake process in the tool and this has helped us tremendously with transparency of proposed projects and in the investment of our resources. I have a vision of what it could solve, but we aren't there yet.

  ### 3. Planview Portfolios Transformed Our Data-Driven Enterprise Portfolio Strategy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Planview Portfolios?**

Planview Portfolios allows me to leverage the data we collect into fact-based (data-driven) decisions for execution and investment. The success we’ve experienced with Portfolios has transformed our understanding and helped us expand our perspective from the portfolio level to the enterprise level (a collection of many portfolios) for strategic portfolio management.

**What do you dislike about Planview Portfolios?**

I dislike the difficulty that we experience moving data into Portfolios. We have overcome this by using Project, which permits ingestion of the Data. In a perfect world, the ingestion of data could occur in Project, Portfolio, and Agile place with the 1-step importation feature,

**What problems is Planview Portfolios solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The team uses Planview Portfolios as the enterprise-level system of record. This makes governance more effective and allows the easy access of information to help guide next and future investment decisions.
