What I like best about Panopto is how easy it makes recording and organizing videos. You can hit record, talk through your slides or screen, and it automatically uploads and sorts everything for you. The search features are also super helpful — you can type in a word and Panopto finds the exact moment in the video where it was said or shown. The main thing I dislike about Panopto is that it can feel slow and clunky sometimes. Uploading or processing videos can take longer than you’d expect, and the editing tools aren’t as smooth or intuitive as other platforms. When we bought Panopto in 2020 we needed no more than 3 days to fully integrate Panopto in the university ecosystem. Panopto perfectly matches our needs in terms of automated lecture capture and livestreaming via Panopto certified devices and their distribution throughout the moodle integration. Additionaly Panopto empowers both members of staff and students to easily create and manage their video content. On top Panopto´s features, like captions, fully searchable content, discussion, e.g. empower to students to rewatch lecture content and create their personal learning path.

I truly appreciate Panopto for its exceptional ease of use, which makes it accessible and straightforward for everyone from faculty to students. I find the process of SSO creation and migration challenging and somewhat difficult. It doesn't operate smoothly, especially for administrators. I believe there should be a more efficient system for migrating data from an old site to Panopto to make the transition easier. Another aspect I dislike involves the dual login system for admins and creators/viewers, which currently requires toggling between accounts. This could be streamlined to enhance usability. Additionally, as an admin, I face inconvenience because the lack of SSO option forces me to enter my username and password repeatedly instead of utilizing a single sign-on feature. All the in built features like Editor, online reocrder without need to install the program, the Panopto Support is helpful too usually I will get my reply within a day without too much waiting. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A lot of the enhanced features are behind a paid wall meaning we need to pay for more for these enhancement, just curious if the features is behind paid wall how would people be able to use or test these new features? Without user testing won't these new features means nothing to user?

Did Panopto like consider granting institutions like a one semester (6 months) worth of such features for free so that institution can invite their educators to use or test these new features, honestly speaking if no one wants to test or use your new features because of the paid wall needed to access it, it's very hard for the education institution to justify paying for it if no user wants to use these enhanced features. This is an excellent video platform that enables us to create content in various ways—through the app, using Teams and Zoom integrations, via Moodle, and even from our classroom remote recorders. It also provides several options for delivering video content. A major advantage for us is the ability to live stream our events and public defences directly from our classrooms. I find Panopto's browser recorder, remote recorder, and editor extremely useful. The transcriptions are also super beneficial for my needs. I appreciate the technical services team's support during the migration process, making it quick and accurate. The platform provides a great delivery method for video content and a toolkit for professors and instructors to create and edit videos remotely. I would retool or omit the Elai tool. Additionally, the absence of AI summaries in the videos is a drawback. A feature that could generate AI summaries for users would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- New capabilities are being added, albeit they are addons to an existing Panopto license. These include AI-generated video with Elai, company video portal with Panopto Connect and Panopto Insights. It's a great portfolio of tools to choose from and keep everything under the same platform.

- The Panopto policies to manage archived and stored hours are fantastic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- The permissions to edit a video are still managed at folder level, meaning you need to add someone as a Creator to be able to edit one video. If the folder also contains other videos, then they get editing access to all videos in the folder not just the one you need them to edit. This creates data management issues.

- Automatic captions still need work.

- Creators cannot delete archived videos without restoring them from the archive first, which takes 48h. Therefore they need a Panopto admin to intervene, which increases admin overhead.

- The interface is still slow. When you have hundreds of folders, the 'Browse' button on the left-hand sidebar takes ages to display the hierarchy.

- Still no ability to separate audio from the primary video for more granular video editing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One additional lovely feature added in recent years is the ability to integrate with Zoom. We have Zoom rooms in our school, and when we record classes through Zoom, they automatically populate in the correct classes. This is a HUGE help in not having to organize videos later.
