The transcriptions are pretty inaccurate, and a ten-minute audio can take three times as long to fix because so much of it is wrong. The software often splits one speaker into multiple ones with any slight change in voice tone. It totally misses the mark with grammar and punctuation, and even a slight accent can throw it off, it will miss parts of the conversation entirely. If it's beyond a one-minute monologue, it can't get anything right. Updates often make things worse, changing how features work without notice and breaking usability. Otter gives to the option to give feedback and I've left negative feedback multiple times, but nothing's changed for the better in over a year. I love that it stays in the meeting as a participant, listens to all the conversations, and afterwards gives me a summary outline, which includes what to do and what not to do, along with the action items of the meeting. It's really helpful that I can ask it questions related to my job or what was discussed in the meeting. Having this assistant helps me because the human mind can lose track of a few things here and there, but Otter.ai helps keep everything organized. It's especially great that it can automatically drop emails based on what was discussed in the meeting, and I can also go back to check what was discussed last month. With other solutions, it's based on each video/audio feed. This means if there are 3 people in-person in a conference room, it counts this all as one person. With otter, I can just put my phone on the table with the app open and it labels everyone correctly in the transcript. I don't even have to have my computer with me or be logged into the meeting.
