"Custom Code Editor and Dev Agent Greatly Boost Experiment Velocity"
5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The most helpful feature of Web Experimentation is the custom code editor. Our landing pages have numerous dynamic content elements, so being able to update the CSS and JavaScript directly to account for different scenarios users will see is extremely beneficial. The Dev Agent has also increased experiment velocity greatly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The downside of using Web Experimentation is similar to my favorite part - in order to increase experimentation velocity, you might have to use very complex custom code to reduce the number of total experiments created. For example, if I'm launching the same experiment on 3 different brands that have 3 different color schemes, fonts, images, etc., I either need to create 3 different experiments or write custom code to account for those brand themes. "Intuitive Visual Editor Enhances and Simplifies A/B Testing"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I mainly like the ease of use of Optimizely Web Experimentation. The visual editor is particularly appealing as it allows us to visually plug and play, making updates on landing pages much faster compared to coding. The initial setup was straightforward due to the instructions provided for implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The visual editor can be challenging from time to time, especially when previewing updates in real time. It can be tricky based on the type of updates we're doing, and sometimes it doesn't show things correctly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Eases Experimentation with AI Support"
5/5
Describe the project or task Optimizely Web Experimentation helped with:

Optimizely's AI-driven tools, like Opal, simplify the experimentation process, reducing the need for manual intervention and allowing for more efficient use of resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I like that Optimizely built us an AI agent to help make the testing and experimentation easier. It helps to make experimentation easier without adding resources. It brings the hypothesis together as well as the various items to test. It brings it all together very easily to implement the test. The onboarding consultant made the initial setup a lot easier and helped us set up some spreadsheets and dashboarding to make it a lot more straightforward. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quick, Lag-Free Edits with Helpful Visual Feedback"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The ability to make quick and easy adjustments to client sites as needed. I love the integration of the visual window alongside the code editor as it gives direct visual feedback on what changes are being made! It has almost no lag time on making edits which is amazing in today's fast-paced environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I know this doesn't really fit the model but it would be nice to have a map connection outside of having Opal, as the Opal pricing has looked slightly pricey to our company as we have been looking around at options for AI integration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless A/B Testing with Easy Setup"
4/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I use Optimizely Web Experimentation for A/B testing. I found it was easy to integrate, and the web interface is really self-intuitive. The APIs are well designed, which saves development time and lets us launch experiments fast. The automatic customer distinction and data management features are excellent, providing valuable insights. The intuitive interface also allows non-technical team members to set up and monitor tests independently, significantly speeding up our decision-making process. Plus, the integration with shared libraries was straightforward, only requiring adding a dependency and two lines of code for each project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

The reporting and analytic dashboards could be more detailed and customizable. More granular segmentation options in reports, like filtering results by device, location, user behavior, type etc. Exporting raw data could be more easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

It makes testing ideas very simple and quick. It is easy to use, and you don’t need much technical knowledge to run experiments. It helps us understand what works better by using real data, so we can improve the website and give a better experience to users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Can be a bit complex for advanced setups, especially when deeper technical changes are needed. Also, debugging issues or understanding why a test isn’t working as expected can take time Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Flexible, and Developer-Friendly Experimentation Platform"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I really like how quick and simple it is to test new ideas without needing a full deployment cycle. As a developer, I can easily implement experiments directly in code and see the impact almost instantly. The platform’s flexibility allows us to update or replace page elements, try new layouts, or inject components on specific pages without disturbing production code. It’s reliable, intuitive, and fits smoothly into our existing workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

There isn’t much to dislike, but since it’s a client-side tool, there’s a small delay before the experiment changes appear on the page. While the no-code options are great for marketers, they’re somewhat limited in what they can achieve compared to code-based experiments. Still, for developers, the overall experience is smooth, stable, and easy to manage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

I find that it could provide more data on users to help analyze the type of users attracted to specific landing pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A potent piece of kit, watch out!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

Web Experimentation is, unsurprisingly, geared towards experimental practices common across many organisations. However, it also proves to be an exceptionally powerful tool for delivering complex content updates rapidly, without the need for a formal deployment.

For me, this is perhaps its most compelling feature. It offers an alternative and immediate route to production, allowing us to make small, targeted changes to website content or functionality without the overhead of the traditional cycle of planning, development, testing, and deployment.

So long as it is used surgically and pragmatically (I.E. with a clear understanding of scope and impact), Web Experimentation can serve as a smart, agile extension of our delivery toolkit. It empowers teams to respond swiftly to business needs, trial ideas with minimal friction, and optimise user experiences in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Optimizely Web Experimentation?

While Web Experimentation offers remarkable speed and flexibility, it also opens the door to some real risks if not used with discipline. The very thing that makes it powerful - its ability to bypass the usual delivery pipeline - also makes it dangerously easy to misuse.

Because changes can be pushed live so quickly, there's a strong temptation to subvert normal development processes. It becomes too easy to skip critical steps like peer reviews, testing, accessibility checks, and stakeholder alignment. This creates a kind of shadow delivery stream where decisions and changes are made in isolation, often without sufficient visibility or long-term accountability.

In short, it’s easy to shoot yourself in the foot. Without strong governance or a mature team that understands when and how to use it appropriately, Web Experimentation can lead to technical debt, inconsistent user experiences, or even regressions that are hard to trace.

Used irresponsibly, it risks becoming a shortcut for poor process rather than a tool for smart agility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
