"Enterprise database engine"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

SQL Server is probably the most used database engine for big data projects. It has a free version which is the express version, though only use it for personal projects, because it is meant for that. The management studio is great, you can schedule SQL jobs, create diagrams, manage execution plans, you name it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is very heavy. This engine is meant for production projects. So if you're thinking of having it installed on your PC, try to count on a very powerfull PC if you don't want it eating some of your resources. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is a quite complex and complete database manager, it is robust and can store a large amount of data and records, it is compatible with windows application projects with visual basic and php web projects, it has a high level of security for databases. data and access to information, also has help assistants for the elaboration of queries between related tables and is able to perform stored procedures that is very important for large projects as this allows the generation of reports. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

It is very complex and difficult to install since you have to configure a variety of servers and tools so that it can work properly, besides that the consumption of hardware in the equipment that is installed is high margin, so it can not be installed in a basic features such as access and mysql, and the configuration for use must be done by a trained staff in the area which also limits its use to basic users, and if the software is not connected, work on it in a intuitive it can turn out to be very long and complicated Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very Good Database software"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

I am working from SQL server 2008 versions onwards and observed that the tool is improving a lot. I used the versions 2008,2012 and now using 2016 version. I am also user of SSRS and SSIS in SQL Server. They are very good tools and used by many clients.I like the intuitiveness in the usage. It is very easy to use. Management studio is easy to use. I like management studio to work with. Also I like the SSRS and SSIS very much.ETL is easy with SSIS it shows the flow of different tasks. Allot the reporting tools have SQL server driver connectivity which is great.

Dynamic Data masking is very helpful feature in 2016 version. Also Always Encrypted feature is very good to be used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

The tool needs improvement a lot. As compared to other tools the improvement needs to be there in the tools. The security part need to improved. Also the performance needs to be improved. There are so many databases and ETL tools in the market, SQL server should be able to compete with them to provide more and more usability features for the clients / users. "Best Database system I've used"
What do you like best about Microsoft SQL Server?

MS SQL provides the SQL management studio which helps easy to write and integrate SQL database and SQL queries. It has almost all the features which a database management studio should have. So, I think it's the best database system out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Microsoft SQL Server?

On the first startup, it asks for username and password all time even though I've set it as 'Remember me'. Tried to fix that (let it start with saved username and password) but couldn't figure it out. That's the only issue I'm having with it. Other than that I haven't had any issue when using MS SQL.
