Whenever I call, they respond promptly and make sure my questions are answered. Recently, they added a loan application feature that feels completely seamless for both me and my clients. I’ve encouraged several of my clients to apply, and they’ve all been approved. Overall, it’s been an absolutely wonderful service. **What do you dislike about 8am LawPay?** They recently changed their expiration date year code, and you now have to enter all four digits. Not only is it confusing that they didn't let anyone know they were switching it from two-digit to four-digit, but to me is seems entirely unnecessary, especially at the beginning of a millenium. **What problems is 8am LawPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** Dealing with customers who are not a good credit risk (they have to provide a card if they are doing a virtual appointment) or are running low on funds to keep the work going. ### 2. Since the pandemic, we’ve been emailing 99% of our clients invoices. Clients requested an online payment option. LawPay provided that option through their secure payment portal, which integrates with our Juris billing system. We include a payment link on our invoices, which provides a simple and secure payment option for our clients by simply selecting the link provided. There is a separate link to accept client retainers and send payments directly to your client IOLTA account. **What do you dislike about 8am LawPay?** The only downside to 8am LawPay is when a client payment via eCheck is rejected for whatever reason, because LawPay advances the funds to your account as a courtesy, we must reverse the payment until the payment is resubmitted and we can repost the transaction. It's a nice option that they offer but I'd rather the transaction be confirmed and paid before it's available in our account. This has happened only a few times in the years when been using LawPay. **What problems is 8am LawPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** The 8am LawPay online payment option has saved us hours of work. We no longer have to take client phone calls if they request to pay by credit card. We don’t have to store their credit card information in a locked cabinet. Instead, all credit card information is saved on LawPay’s secured portal. They also have the option to pay securely by eCheck. ### 3. I'm able to make payment schedules and send out links to clients, which is quite useful. It gives me a variety of ways to get payments done, making the process more efficient. Also, the initial setup was pretty easy, they made it easy to handle, which I liked. **What do you dislike about 8am LawPay?** You could use a little bit of improvement with some of the more complex payment plans giving you additional editing capabilities. It doesn't let you personalize it a 100%. And sometimes on the payment plans, if a card gets declined, it'll continue going on counting that week in that amount, to the final balance even though the money didn't actually get paid. The AI chat help could be improved A LOT. For example, I was preparing a final bill and was trying to figure out how to deduct what was left in the trust account from the final bill, and I just couldn't remember how. This seems made for an AI answer, but it couldn't help me, and it was a weekend, so I had to wait until Monday morning to speak to a live person and even she had to ask someone. Nothing that was done by LawPay was easy including the changing of banks was a nightmare. If you are looking forward to losing money, please by all means use LawPay. **What do you dislike about 8am LawPay?** When you use Law Pay, please know you are giving them permissions to unilaterally enter your bank account and remove "your" monies. This can occur almost 90 days after you've allegedly been paid. Can you as a sole practitioner hold monies for 90 days while you determine whether the "client" is going to change their mind? Please know you never see the documents or alleged complaints as I have yet to see ANYTHING in writing related to the "alleged" chargeback. It offers our clients not only ways to pay via credit card and electronic checks, but also via a pay later option which essentially is a small loan through one of their affiliiates and approval is same day, with funds going straight to our account. The client portal is also very intuitive and user friendly. **What do you dislike about 8am LawPay?** Credit Card processing fees can be a nuance, but that goes with most merchant card processors. although they have an option to charge the client processing fees, there are some limitations and payments made via LawPay doesn't automatically go into our Legal Practice Manageement Software, Clio Manage. **What problems is 8am LawPay solving and how is that benefiting you?** Law Pay allows clients that don't have cash on hand to use their Pay Later option. this helps increaase converstion rate for our potential clients. ### 32. The “Quick Bill” feature is one of our favorites, as it’s a simple way to send out requests for payment. The “Charge” feature is very convenient for our customers, because it gives them multiple payment options, ACH, credit card and the wonderful “Pay Later” feature, where they can apply to finance a line of credit. Additionally, I want to access more information about the client's credit card details and location, similar to what other competitors provide. However, as a lawyer, it's beneficial to have a service that understands the legal profession, including the ability to send funds to trust accounts and other features relevant to lawyers.
