What do you like best about CosmoLex?

The feature that I find most attractive in CosmoLex is that it integrates practice management, billing, accounting, and document management all within one software system. Centralizing everything is very convenient because it becomes easier to handle the day-to-day business activities without having to switch from one system to another.

Another thing I value in this software is its legal accounting and trust accounting capabilities. These features make financial management more efficient and straightforward while still meeting the necessary requirements.

Finally, the software is cloud-based, making it easily accessible anytime, anywhere. In addition, users can collaborate better, and administrative tasks become more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

A point of dislike regarding CosmoLex is that the program is rather cluttered since so much functionality exists within one system, making navigation through such functions as billing, accounting, and matter management quite difficult.

Another point of dislike is that certain processes may involve several clicks, which slows down routine activities. Reporting functionality should also be customized more, as sometimes the view of reports does not fit specific needs of certain users.

Finally, although the program is highly functional, integration with other tools could be much smoother. It is clear that this program is powerful and rich in features, however, its flexibility and ease of use leave much to be desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CosmoLex?

I really appreciate how CosmoLex helps save my time through the automation of practice management and file management. It also assists with bookkeeping, but what I like the most is that it keeps everything up to date. They regularly release new features, and I value their ongoing support from the tech team. The introduction of the open API was particularly helpful for automation. I also enjoy the integration with tools like Gmail. The setup was pretty easy when they first launched, and even though it has more features now, there's a supportive team available. What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

What do you like best about CosmoLex?

I love the fact that accounting (including Trust accounting) is integrated into the software. No separate accounting software is necessary so everything from time, to billing to collection integrates seamlessly. It is a very customizable and flexible program that can accommodate different needs. Also, the software forces good Trust accounting procedures. It is hard to run afoul of the Bar Trust Accounting rules using the software. I love the integration with LawPay. This makes collection much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

In recent years, CosmoLex has been sold at least twice. The newest corporate owner is not nearly as responsive and quick with support questions. CosmoLex has gone the way of most successful small businesses, they have been sold to large companies that increase the price and decrease the customer service. Also, it is very annoying that they are constantly trying to push/sell new products to you.

The program will "freeze" up from time to time and you have to either reload the page or sometimes close it down. It will at times get very slow, but this doesn't happen with regularity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CosmoLex?

It is an excellent tool for docketing time and billing clients. The Customer Support is very good and much better than other Legal Accounting Software that I have used. My bookkeeper uses CosmoLex to do my accounting and there have been no issues with that. He actually recommended CosmoLex to me. I use CosmoLex daily in my practice primarily for docketing and billing purposes and have had no significant issues. There is a small learning curve when you switch to the software but it is easy to master. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

I only use CosmoLex for docketing, billing, and bookkeeping purposes so I can't comment on the other tools available. Given my limited usage, there is nothing that I dislike about Cosmolex. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CosmoLex?

I really like the trust accounting feature in CosmoLex. I can reconcile all of my bank statements, including my trust account, within about two minutes per account because it's easy, straightforward, and just really well thought out. Also, using CosmoLex allowed me to replace two programs I was using before with one program in the cloud. The initial setup was a piece of cake. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

The only issues that I have with CosmoLex is that sometimes there is only a particular way to execute a certain transaction. And if you don't know it, you can't figure it out on your own because it's not as intuitive as some other programs may be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CosmoLex?

We switched from PC Law to Cosmolex. We paid Cosmolex to transfer our data and books from PC Law. We have a bookkeeper and an accounting firm since the inception of our firm. There were no complaints from Cosmolex when transferring our data. After the first tax year, our accountant noticed serious deficiencies in the data and they had to spend considerable time rebuilding our books which cost us an extra $4000 in accounting fees. We complained to Cosmolex but took no responsibility and said our books were problematic to begin with and they would not compensate us. We switched to Clio thereafter. What do you like best about CosmoLex?

I've been using their beta "NextGen" as much as possible lately. It does some things great (not limited to 20 timecards per page on the timesheet, can bulk select multiple time entries in a matter if you need to delete a bunch, hovering over an event in the calendar gives you the details) but some things definitely need improvement. What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

I've been using their beta "NextGen" as much as possible lately. It does some things great but some things definitely need improvement. Customization of the fields doesn't work in some tabs. Trying to update timecards constantly pops up shortcuts for adding events or something else, probably because there's no spinning wheel now to tell me it's not ready for me to start typing in a field. Changing the billing rate level on a time entry sometimes doesn't work unless you stop the time entry first.

Trying to connect with support seems to take absolutely forever unless you're just having a quick chat. An agent reached out to me about 2 weeks ago and offered only timeslots between 6 and 7:30 am my time (PST, nothing crazy) and still hasn't offered anything a little later in the day. "Great product that Lost A Lot of Steam in Amalgamation with ProfitSolv"
What do you like best about CosmoLex?

I sue this software everyday often for 14-16 hours per day during busy seasons.

The most important feature for me is the built in accounting. It reduces time spent and prevents errors. The next important feature is the document generator. However, it has limitations as it can only accept a limited number of fields into the quick insert feature and so my practice as to download the extensive word document to obtain the coding for fields. It has integrated well with microsoft word for the document generator and generally easy to create documents.

I do like CosmoLex from a well rounded perspective. It's UI is aesthetically easy on the eye and can be customized for better effectiveness.

There are training sessions available to join, which are actually helpful.

Transition to CosmoLex was easy enough and at the time, prior to ProfitSolv, there was a great amount of good tech support to assist. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CosmoLex?

My number one complaint about CosmoLex is customer service and tech support. Prior to the amalgamation with ProfitSolv I would have given CosmoLex a 10/10 for customer service. Now it is a 6/10 at best. Tech support is slow and often hard to reach as various methods to reach them have not worked properly. When you do hear from them it is usually an email with a set of instructions that if I am lucky work. There is no personal touch. Prior to ProfitSolv I knew my tech support agents and they were very knowledgeable and exceptionally responsive - that is now gone.

Additionally, being a Canadian customer my annual fee is subject to the fluctuations in the CAD/USD. Prior to Profit Solve, I could call my business contact and ask them to process my next annual renewal when the exchange rate was good and they did it promptly. Now I have to wait strictly for the annual renewal date.

The use of CosmoLex pay (integrated online payments) would be a great feature except for the cost - it is quite pricey compared to other Canadian non-integrated payment services.

In short, CosmoLex under ProfitSolv no longer cares about the customer, they are just another big corporation. So unfortunate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
