Expoplatform provided the official mobile app for GITEX Global. As exhibitors, we relied entirely on this app to collect leads by scanning attendee badges throughout the five-day event. After the show, we discovered that none of our scans had been recorded — zero leads from the entire event.
When we raised the issue, the Expoplatform team “investigated.” Their first explanation was that we had been scanning the wrong code. Apparently, each badge had two different QR codes (a badge code and a ticket code), and we were simply unlucky enough to pick the wrong one. It’s unclear why two codes were printed on the same badge without any distinction, but even that doesn’t explain the total data loss.
The next explanation was that our scanning phone wasn’t connected to the internet, and therefore the data didn’t sync. This is factually incorrect — the phone was online the entire time.
In short, our investment in GITEX participation was rendered meaningless because we never received the lead data. Expoplatform has refused to take responsibility, insisting their app “works perfectly.” Based on this experience, I would strongly caution any exhibitor against relying on this platform for lead collection or event management.
