What customer support options does Dotdigital provide, and how do users find the overall support experience?

Dotdigital provides support through email, chat, and phone, with 24/7 access to a live representative. The support experience is often described as responsive and knowledgeable, with account managers and specialists helping teams through onboarding, troubleshooting, and more complex setup questions. Some users do encounter slower responses or find that initial support does not resolve an issue straight away.

What is the experience like for teams switching to Dotdigital from another tool?

Switching to Dotdigital often means moving from a simpler or more manual setup to more capable automation, segmentation, and campaign reporting. Mailchimp is a commonly named previous platform, alongside tools such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Campaign Monitor, and Adestra; users describe seeking more flexibility, deeper targeting, better integrations, or a more usable email builder. The transition is often supported by onboarding and training, though connecting data and learning advanced workflows can take effort.

Dotdigital offers 35 integrations, and users describe connecting it with ecommerce, CRM, marketing, and ticketing systems.
  • Ecommerce: Shopify and Adobe Commerce/Magento.
  • CRM and business systems: Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Marketing and data tools: Zapier, Fresh Relevance, Google Ads, and Facebook.
  • Ticketing and website tools: Spektrix and WordPress.
These connections can bring customer, purchase, and engagement data into campaigns, reduce manual transfers, and support more targeted communications and automated journeys.

What features or capabilities could make Dotdigital even more useful?

Dotdigital could be more useful with refinements to email creation, reporting, and audience targeting. Recurring improvement requests include:
  • Email design: Add more flexible layouts, creative templates, and styling controls.
  • Reporting: Make dashboards more customizable and improve comparisons, exports, and visibility into campaign performance.
  • Segmentation and personalization: Expand targeting rules and make dynamic content easier to manage and test.
  • Workflow efficiency: Streamline common tasks and provide clearer in-product guidance for advanced automations.

How useful do Dotdigital users find its AI features in everyday use?

Dotdigital’s AI features are most useful as a practical aid for everyday marketing work, though the experience can vary by task. Users find WinstonAI helpful for quick platform guidance and for generating or refining subject lines and copy; some find its suggestions generic or want more control over brand tone and performance-based recommendations.

"Powerful Segmentation Tools for Targeted Messaging"
5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

The amount of different tools available and how deep you can go with segmentation, ensuring that what you're sending is to the right persona selling the correct product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

How much there is to do within it. I don't think it's a dislike as such, but you want to be able to do everything all at once but it will take a while for everything to be uploaded/imported and use everything effectively.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Seamless POS Integration with Stellar Support"
4/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

I love that Dotdigital seamlessly connects with our AI of choice, making the creative process much smoother. It's also a game-changer that Dotdigital integrates with our internal POS system, allowing us to harness valuable in-store data for direct marketing. Additionally, the customer service team makes a significant difference. When we initially faced an issue with our Account Manager, they understood our concern, worked on a solution, and ensured the problem was resolved, which is the kind of service I appreciate and trust. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

I think some better creative templates would be an asset. They are all very plain and feel very 2010. I would like more detailed creative templates based on our industry (retail). For example, it would be nice to have a few different options for new arrival product emails rather than just one standard template. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Dotdigital: Intuitive, Scalable Marketing Automation with Exceptional Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

Dotdigital has a great and intuitive platform that I've been using for many years. It has grown and evolved over time, with new features, but continues to be very user friendly. I love how the platform can integrate easily with our website, allowing data to flow in making for smart segmentation and automation. We've seen great ROI on our abandoned basket emails, delivering great engagement and conversion rates. The support teams behind the platform have also been exceptional. We've been put on a plan that has helped us scale the usage as we've scaled in incremental fashion, rather than spilling over and having to pay for a bigger plan than is required at that time. The AI tools inside the platform via WinstonAI has been extremely helpful too, making great suggestions to subject lines and content which has improved open rate and engagement. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

I'm not overly keen on is the ecommerce blocks. While the idea behind them is great. The styling leaves a lot to be desired and I tend not to use them as a result. The entry points for automated triggered campaigns could also have more options for how frequently they run / entry requirements. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Segmentation, Quick Setup"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

I like how easy Dotdigital is to use. I've never had a CRM manager that can do segmentation that quickly. I appreciate how fast it is to segment for new audiences without hassle. It's convenient to look at who clicked or opened a certain campaign and add a persona or even give them purposes right out of the box. The initial setup was very simple and quick to achieve, with no problems, and I think it was switched over in one afternoon. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

I think the key improvement is the testing tool. You just can't miss it in a test send. It's really hard to edit that. That usually looks quite difficult. It'd be great to have a way for users to see emails in Dotdigital. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"DotDigital’s real-time analytics and dynamic content make campaigns smarter"
4/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

Strong reporting and analytics that are auto generated for each campaign send - the real-time analytics make it easy to see which automations are driving revenue and where customers are dropping off.

Instead of building multiple versions of the same email, I can tailor sections of content based on customer behaviour using in-built tools.

Our company has also made great use of the form builder available in DotDigital, whether this is for email sign ups, or even blogger sign ups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

One limitation I’ve experienced with Dotdigital is around advanced personalisation and segmentation. While the platform offers basic behavioural targeting and dynamic content, creating highly specific audiences often requires a lot of manual work outside the platform. "Comprehensive Marketing Platform with Great Support and Strong Email Performance Insights"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

Dotdigital offers a comprehensive digital marketing solution. We regularly make use of the form/survey function as well as the mailing facility.

We have an integration with our CMS system which helps use keep our distribution lists up to date and ensure we reach our audience effectively.

Being able to measure the performance of mailouts helps us to improve our messaging.

We have only made limited use of the AI functionality, but are keen to explore more, especially around its ability to provide a more consistent tone of voice across our communications.

We get great support from our account manager and also appreciate the added extras such as the Dotdigital Summit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

We have been using Dotdigital for 10 years now and are generally very pleased with the service. We are aware that we are probably not making the most of the service, but have spoken to our account manager (Sean) who is keen to help us more aware of what we can do and help us a develop an effective strategy going forward. "Dotdigital Makes Complex Customer Journeys Easy with Intuitive Automation and Great Support"
5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

What I like most is how simple it is to create even complex customer journeys and automation workflows using their intuitive drag-and-drop tile system. The visual interface makes it easy to build, edit, and understand sophisticated workflows without needing technical expertise.

Another feature I particularly appreciate is the reporting and workflow visualization. Being able to clearly see how contacts move through each stage of a journey makes performance analysis straightforward and helps identify opportunities for optimisation.

Another aspect I really value is the support and learning resources available. Dotdigital has an extensive library of online guides, tutorials, and videos that make it easy to learn new features and find answers quickly. In most cases, I've been able to find exactly what I need through their documentation.

On the occasions when I couldn't find the answer myself, the live chat support has always been readily available. Every time I've contacted the support team, they've been knowledgeable, responsive, and able to resolve my issue on the first interaction. Having that level of support gives me confidence that help is always there when I need it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

One area that could be improved is the contact limit structure. Our business generates a high volume of one-time purchasers, which means our contact database grows quickly. We regularly find ourselves reaching the contact limit, leaving us with the choice of either increasing our subscription costs to accommodate more contacts or spending time removing older contacts from the platform. "All-in-One Platform That Makes Scalable Customer Journeys Easy"
5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

The thing I value most is how much ground it covers in one platform -automation journeys, segmentation, SMS, whatsapp, reporting and campaign builds all sit together.

The automation workflows in particular make it easy to build and scale personalised customer journeys without needing dev support for every change, which is huge when you're a small team (just me and one CRM Executive). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

Honestly, not much to complain about. If I had to pick something, it's that some roadmap items can take a while to land — but that's balanced out by the fact that the platform is continually developing, so there's always something new coming through. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive, Powerful Automation for Effortless Multi-Channel Journeys"
5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

What I like most is how intuitive yet powerful the automated programs are. Setting up complex, multi-channel customer journeys is incredibly straightforward. The drag-and-drop builder saves a massive amount of time, and the ability to seamlessly manage marketing preferences in bulk makes maintaining database hygiene effortless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

The two main areas for improvement are background processing speeds. Program segmentation updates can be slow to process, meaning changes don't always reflect in real-time. Additionally, copying existing email campaigns frequently hangs or takes a bit too long to duplicate, which adds minor friction to an otherwise smooth daily workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Outstanding Onboarding Support and a Flexible Platform That Scales"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Dotdigital?

What I like best about Dotdigital is the level of support provided throughout the onboarding process. Having access to a dedicated team who are available to answer questions, provide guidance, and offer face-to-face (albeit online) support made a real difference. In fact, this was one of the main reasons I chose Dotdigital over another provider.

I also like that the platform has the flexibility to grow with our business. The ability to develop more sophisticated email marketing through programmes and automations gives us confidence that we can continue to improve our customer communications over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Dotdigital?

The main challenge with Dotdigital is that the sheer amount of functionality can feel overwhelming when you're first getting started. For users who are familiar with creating standard email campaigns but are new to programmes, automations, and the more advanced features, there is definitely a learning curve.

The initial setup fee was also quite steep and required some convincing of our General Manager that the investment would be worthwhile. However, having now experienced the onboarding process and seen the capabilities of the platform, it feels like a worthwhile investment.

We've also experienced some challenges with integrations. We successfully integrated Dotdigital with one of our booking systems, but after moving to a different provider, we've been unable to integrate due to limitations with the booking system itself rather than Dotdigital. While this has been frustrating, it's not a reflection of Dotdigital's capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Rob Hughes of Dotdigital

Hey,

Thanks for the review and feedback! We appreciate it.

Rob H
