We really like how simple blesta is to get up and running. It makes it very simple to connect all 3rd party vendors and start selling web hosting quickly. The admin panel provides everything you could possible need to support end clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blesta?

Themeing is not as good in blesta as it is in its alternatives. While it has a good built in theme that will adapt by a primary colour there is not many themes out there to customise the look of the panel. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Blesta?

Bad customer support, don't say anything bad about them our they will block you and not provide support.

Great software, but people skills are terrible. They are very quick to say their software never present an incorrect error and quick to blame server setup, but once the problem was sorted in live chat, which was great and easier! It then turned strange.

First, someone messaged saying the support ticket I created was to be closed and reaffirmed that the error was not at their end. I really do not need to keep hearing statements that their software is never at fault when technically it was blesta at issue.

Secondly not just that they are quick to blame the server and not even investigate, throwing possible causes which none was correct, and quickly irritated me. The error was that mod_rewrite was not installed.

I had to send screenshots of my server setup proving it was installed and that cpanel confirms that, and the issue would have to be dealt with by blesta developers as once again they confirmed what I already knew, mod_rewrite was installed.

Which to point out that cpanel comes with it install nowadays. They should know this, but they never asked about what contol panel I was using.

They then tried to blame litespeed.

In the end to correct the error we had to remove lines from htacces one file and delete one of their scripts files from where blesta was installed.

After this it worked fine, they really wanted to know what was the issue and we soon found out why.

Another script that runs from the main domain, the htaccess there was set up so that new installs go to the install file if the script was not installed. This is becoming more and more common as I have noticed a lot of scripts have install.php set as an index page to help first time users or less technically minded.

But due to this setup the index settings in the main domain,it overruled blesta htaccess. Hence why blesta was providing a "false" error about mod_rewrite not being installed, even though blesta team kept saying blesta don't show an error and for that error to be incorrect.

In the end, the error was in the htaccess file that was part of their install and not a server file or setup! As this was within files relating to blesta install then the issue and error were from their end nowhere else.

Blesta needs to take this onboard and sometimes work around it, without blaming another software or server setup. It looks better when you can admit the issue was on blesta's end, getting it fixed without getting into a blame game.

Keep in mind new scripts are being designed all the time, what happens when the next new script out there that someone uses within the same cPanel account, that may cause conflicts within blesta, blame them?

Thirdly because blesta did not like the way another script on the same cPanel account has their script htaccess file was setup, they asked what script I was using, when they realised what software it was it then turned into a conversation about how badly made the other script was and that they have copied their reseller discounts adding 2% on what blesta offers.

Eveyone knows every part of webhosting is a competition, I know other billing scripts that offer better rates then blesta and the other script put together. It comes across that blesta don't like it when other scripts encrotch on what blesta script does.

Once I said that I got reseller status with the other script without the need of buying an owned license unlike blesta why i would do to be part of blesta reseller, I never got any further replies.

In my eyes every script has their own way of running and using htaccess, every company is in competition with others in the same sector and there will always be new scripts doing the same or a better job, come on WHMCS and ClientEXE was around before blesta, blesta now is competition for them.

And finaly, if the two lines and file is not needed after install, and blesta runs fine with out these, is there any need for the lines to be in the htaccess file at all and to remove the PHP file after install. Which to state a fact most software I worked with asks for the PHP file in question to be deleted after install as 1 is not needed and 2 can become vulnerable.

All responses for support since my review on Trustpilot has stopped. I have been waiting 24 hours now and still no response on live chat or email.

And now they have blocked us, terrible just because I like another software more, and that I pointed out an error with their software and voiced my opinion. I would suggest if you want to have continued support with blesta that you don't say anything bad about them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Whmcs vs Blesta

Recently we bought a two year old hosting company and we decided to transfer our website to new domain we bought.

The existing billing system is whmcs. We know whmcs is best billing software even though we decided to move over blesta because of lifetime license which whmcs do not offer.

However we are familiar with whmcs but not with blesta but upon check blesta revew found its 2nd top billing software after whmcs and surprised with pricing difference.

I was browsing through their website and found 30% off for switching from another billing software to blesta. The biggest mistake I did here is become greedy for 30% off and bought it instead of using trial version.

And the movie starts here:

• Very complex interface – It has taken a days to understand their interface and going thorugh their documentation.

• Poor customer service - As we are unable to import data due to error we have open ticket to blesta. It was taking one-two days for them for single response to ticket only by one person that is Paul. So you have to wait for next 24-48 hours or some times even few more days to get their response. It was just 3-4 days passed after I opened ticket and import was yet not started.

• Aggressive and delay support ticket response – I realised I did a mistake that I paid instead if using trial copy so I know I have to suffer with delayed support response. As import data was not started after 3-4 days I updated to ticket and ask to provide update on migration status. No response.

Again next day I updated ticket telling process is going too slow and no one is updating ticket.

Soon I got response from paul that complaining will not faster this migration process but they will move to next ticket for another client. I was shocked with behaviour by Paul and retreated buying blesta but keeping some patience I provided him required details to start import data. The next day I got update from Paul that the import data will be done by their developer and he will update once done. Then another next day I got update that data is imported.

• Blesta Full of Bugs – After the data get imported I can see only hosting packages and tickets are showing but did not found customer domain. Again I updated to ticket and I have to wait for a day or more to that their response. And now it was almost 7-8 days just passed away in import data process but still nothing worked to make the system live.

Next day I got response from Paul that import data is correct, I need to create separate pack for every domain extension (TLDs) which I had already done. But still won’t show up clients domain.

Again I update that ticket telling that I have already done this correctly but still client domain wont showup. But not response to that ticket. There was another lots of issue on configuring order form for hosting and domains and even domain registration, transfer or I already have a domain option was not coming upon in order form of hosting service hence I have opened seprate ticket for each issue.

In some ticket I was getting a response by paul helping me to fix order form issue but never got response to import data ticket where clients domain are still missing and now it was more than 10 days passed away I yet my billing system was not live.

No refund and no License- Finally after spending my whole 10 days we decided to stick with whmcs and cancel this blesta license. I open up new ticket requesting them to provide refund that it did not worked for us and we have already spent 10 days in configuring blesta.

No response for 2 days. I updated other tickets asking for providing refund. Finally Paul responded and deny for refund and closed my all tickets.

Again I requested that I have tried my best to stick with blesta but did not worked so please provide me refund.

Finally I have opened paypal dispute. Thank god I have taken few screenshot tickets to provide in paypal dispute. But soon after opening paypal dispute they restricted my accont and I was unable to login to blesta account. So now no money and no license.

Even Basic Features missing in Blesta - I see some basic feature like cant few invoice only edit and download option in admin. Can no auto login to cpanel. Invoices are not linked to client service. So we cannot find invoice for perticual service paid by client like whmcs have.

Infact lots of basic features are not available in blesta.

What do you like best about Blesta?

The most awsome thing with blesta is its Open Source Code availability so we can modify the code for our own befitting needs. The other thing i like about it is a wide range of extensions and developer support, so far so good and the community support is wow i mean i have been visiting their Forum for a long time and each time i visits there are some interesting topics being discussed over there. What do you dislike about Blesta?

I won't say i dislike something but it would be awesome if they could only just lower the price a little bit as the most promising part the owned unbranded license are costly so it would be nice if they cost a little lower. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
