**What do you like best about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

I did not like any part of my experience with Blackbaud eTapestry. From start to finish, the software was clunky, outdated, and frustrating to use, making even simple tasks unnecessarily difficult. The cost is outrageously high for what you get, and the customer service was consistently unhelpful and dismissive. After years of dealing with constant issues, inefficiencies, and a complete lack of value, I can honestly say this has been one of the worst software experiences I’ve ever had.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

fter more than 12 years of dealing with Blackbaud eTapestry, I can say without hesitation that it has been one of the most frustrating, overpriced, and disappointing business relationships I’ve ever experienced. The cost is absolutely outrageous for what you get—especially considering how outdated and clunky the system feels compared to modern alternatives. For the price they charge, you would expect a product that is intuitive, efficient, and backed by a team that cares. Unfortunately, eTapestry is none of these things.

The platform itself is cumbersome, slow, and riddled with inefficiencies that make even the simplest tasks unnecessarily time-consuming. Instead of helping streamline our operations, it has often felt like eTapestry adds extra work at every step. Features that should be basic or included require costly add-ons or complicated workarounds.

Customer service is where the experience really goes from bad to appalling. Reaching support feels like an ordeal, and when you finally get someone, the answers are often dismissive, unhelpful, or leave you with even more questions. There is little sense of urgency, and it’s clear the focus is on upselling rather than solving problems for their long-term customers.

Staying with eTapestry for over a decade wasn’t out of loyalty—it was because switching systems is a major undertaking for a nonprofit. But in hindsight, the years of frustration, wasted time, and excessive costs were simply not worth it. I would urge any organization considering eTapestry to look elsewhere. There are far better, more affordable, and more user-friendly CRM solutions on the market that will value your business and actually deliver what they promise.

If I could give them zero stars, I would.

None. Blackbaud CRM is solving zero problems for us and providing no real benefit whatsoever. After years of use, it has only added complexity, wasted time, and drained resources. Every promised “solution” has turned into another obstacle, and there is nothing about this software that has improved our processes or delivered measurable value. The only consistent outcome has been frustration.

I liked that everything was in one place and you could easily phone phone number, address and contact restrictions.

I thought it was much easier to use than SalesForce. I guess the only problem is that it is harder to link other software to it like GiveCampus for a seamless integration, or to take payments, however I though the interface and reporting was better than others.

The reporting was super easy and I could subscribe to reports daily or weekly, and when there was no new information it would not send me a report which I really liked.

I think BBCRM has a lot of great tools to use and a lot more capabilities if you use more than one of their products together as in integration.

The tools aren't as helpful if you don't use all of the products and transition is messy unless you had a large buget/team to handle it. The implementation was difficult and still happening years after the transition.

BBCRM ='s CRM feature that our IT team has built in helps us manage our constituents, giving, events, etc for the university.

Blackbaud CRM is extremely robust for large nonprofits. Our staff of 90 is in the system daily. With the SDK and integrations, the sky is really the limit as far as customization and making the product work for our system.

Coming from Raiser's Edge, there are a few shocking limitations especially in query. Be sure to ask to demo query and export to ensure you can get the data you're used to.

Blackbaud CRM is our sole donor and gift database.

The best part was the ability to create recurring entries.  That is, until it was taken away with the switch to web only use.  With over 200 recurring entries every month, it's a drain on my time and energy.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

Customer support is the WORST.  They must hire random people off the street.  In three years, I think I talked to one person who knew anything about accounting.  And don't get me started on pricing - a 25% increase after the initial contract, which was supposed to convert to an annual fee, but they are claiming it's a 3-year.  Nobody in my organization signed a three-year contract.  Not when their software is NOT the best for small organizations.

This was supposed to be a replacement for Quickbooks and it is not.  The market to small organizations, but the implementation process takes months, as does the training, and the cost is unbelievably high.  We run on a tight budget so if money is a concern, look elsewhere.  There wasn't really anything beneficial, as I suddenly had to take extra steps for simple transactions.  I became farther and farther behind until we left.

The thing I like best about using BBCRM is that we are able to provide our users with access to a Business Glossary and Documentation Library. The access to these custom listbuilders allows our users groups to self-serve and train themselves on the different functional areas of CRM.

Inconsistency with customer service. There can be a miscommunication in troubleshooting tickets that can cause delays and additional recurring credit card charges for our donors (as an example.) Our CFO has been awaiting a meeting with Blackbaud to discuss these occurances and has not had a response weeks after the event.

BBCRM has allowed us to move away from having so many customizations. The introduction of SKY API has allowed us to make quick connections with other vendors and integrate seamlessly into CRM.

How easily it can integrate with other products.
The CRM Cloud Portal has been very useful for our developers, making creating Blackbaud customizations much easier.

The conversion process was incredibly hard. 
Customer Support can be hit or miss, where you can get a great customer service representative, but if you get a bad one it can be days of being ignored.
User training can be difficult as technologically challenged users have a harder tiime learning the system.

It helped our organization moved away from too many customizations which made it hard to standardize across our departments.

Blackbaud has a good sales pitch until you start using the software and everything beyond that is terrible.  Support and customer service is awful.

A CRM is only as good as the data it holds and to delete outdated and irrelevant records is archaic and very time-consuming, designed to require the user to page overage rates with penalties.  Terrible option for a non-profit.  Training is also awful for an organization that relies on volunteers for support.  Customer service and 99% of all communications with Blackbaud have been very negative.

We engaged them to replace a small CRM with a focus on non-profit growth, but they have done nothing but create headaches and waste our time.  Very deceptive model on how contracts renew.

Blackbaud CRM makes it easy to see key constituent data at a glance.  I can quickly and easily get info when needed and the various integrations, such as the Events module, make it a great tool to capture overall engagement.

Due to the large amount of data, there are times where the system takes a minute to refresh, as it's combing through the vast database.  That said, I don't have many issues with the CRM system.

Understand your data needs and the various ways it needs to be integrated, managed, and reported.

For the work I do, Blackbaud CRM is key to incorporating event data, to track a variety of engagement types.  We can track registration in an individual event while simultaneously marking each invitee's communication and event attendance records.

RE7 is not cloud-based. It does not easily show reports. It does not easily show graphs. I need more Donor intelligence, social media account linkage, email integration, etc.

We used Blackbaud's CRM because it's billed as a catch-all tool for nonprofits/advocacy work. While some software requires various accounts to access different tools, Blackbaud is one login for multiple programs. It hooked to our CRM and allowed us to connect ticketing and membership options more easily to web content.

We disliked most of the interface. If you've used any other modern CRM you'll notice the outdated admin interface, complicated information structure, and few tools to support new admins. Blackbaud's CRM is not a good product for any organization without a web developer on staff. Tool broke constantly and are not intuitive for admins.

Look past the sales pitch. We were swayed by the promises of our (non web developer) admins having numerous tools for easier workflow and contact management, but the clunkiness of Blackbaud's CRM created more problems for us in the end. Every consultant we were talked to recommended we find a new platform to use.

We used the CRM for managing contacts (particularly various member levels), donor management, email marketing, event ticketing, and development needs. While it offers numerous tools, none of the tools are significant. For instance, while it's nice to have email marketing built-in, we'd have been better off loading lists into an email program like MailChimp for better templates and email tracking.

Very little. If it worked adequately, Lead tracking would be amazing.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

BB gives too much control to the end-user. The software lacks in many vital areas such as building and tracking lead campaigns, inability to link campaigns to leads/schools,  inconsistencies with website apps linking and having end users run into constant issues, the end-of-year rollover is very messy and has too many steps, and it does not allow you to create/assign tasks to team mates on lead follow-up. Salesforce is 10000% better than this software. In addition, if you want to get out of your contract, it is virtually impossible. They will NOT accommodate you in any way and will even argue that the issues with the software are user error.  They are extremely rude and take hours, even days to resolve your ticket. Most of the time, the ticket is closed and you will get an email stating it's closed due to "not able to replicate the issue", even though you're still experiencing the problem. Please do not waste your companies/schools' money on this product. I would much rather pay a little more to use Salesforce, then to deal with all the troubles you will have with Blackbaud.

If you prefer to spend a lot of your time opening tickets (via chat by the way because they charge you for EVERYTHING, even phone support) then please use this software! Otherwise, I would never, ever recommend this software to any company looking to grow their business, school or track their lead pool/campaigns.  It is extremely difficult to use, the training is 100% online and is limited to what you can ask/do during that time. In addition, I recently asked the consultant if I could call to ask a question before scheduling time, he said "let me be clear, all time spent assisting a request is billable to consulting time regardless of format." BB will nickel and dime your company simply because they can and you're locked into a contract! Don't do it!

I have been trying to solve many of the same issues with BB for 7 months! Our setup is not correct, and users cannot create accounts, or when they do, the application is missing, causing us to lose clients at our company and making it inconvenient for people to have to come into the compnay to fill out paper applications. In addition, every time I have to setup a new user internally, it takes hours, even days, because the system isn't setup correctly. I have to take all these extra steps to set up a new user for example: opening up incognito windows, or instead of clicking the "accept invitation" button in the email they send after creating an account, I have to select/copy/paste the invite into a separate browser because there "must be a glitch" between the email and the invitation. It is just extremely frustrating to have to go into work every day and spend hours troubleshooting BlackBaud issues then I do actual work. Please save yourself a headache and do not use this product. Worst investment ever!

Blackbaud offers an array of tools from Raiser's Edge, NXT, Merchant Services, WordPress, Online Express, Luminate Online. Their new NXT tool allows you to see donor data in a very attractive format with charts, graphs, reminders to reach out to donors. Raiser's offers reports, online express for easy donation pages, email pages. They have WordPress templates to use for your website that are easy to customize. **What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

They are very pricey and any new addition always requires extra cost. Sometimes the data in the dashboard doesn't match with data in NXT. For example, consecutive donors years are sometimes different in NXT and sometimes data in queries varies from data in reports and the dashboard. Customer service sometimes takes a while to get back to you especially about issues with your WordPress site. Their Team Builder crowdfunding tool is very difficult to execute. It takes a long time to read many knowledge base articles and to learn how to create fundraising pages. It's kind of an outdated platform. 

**Recommendations to others considering Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM:**

Speak to a rep and understand all the tools available. Every feature is very expensive so make sure you are going to use the features. NXT is a must need. I wouldn't recommend using Team Raiser as it's too complicated to setup so use maybe crowdrise or other crowdfunding, peer to peer tools.

We use almost all Blackbaud tools including our WordPress website, Raiser's Edge, Team Raiser, Luminate Online, NXT. They are very costly however it's worth the price. We love our new website and it's easy to create online giving forms. We are able to play videos on our website as well. We are easily able to track donors, giving and to create reports, queries.

Blackbaud CRM is fairly intuitive, but I really like that it keeps a "Recently Accessed" list on my left task bar. I'm constantly switching between constituents and it's great to not type them in the search box over and over again.

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

Because I work with alumni and donors, I tend to do a lot of research on them. It would be great to have a space within Blackbaud to link their social media accounts or research/professional links. This would tie in all pertinent information rather than just quick demographical type things.

**What problems is Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's a centralized place to keep all donor and alumni information. Because we're a university where our constituents could be in multiple categories and thus members of many different entities, it's great to have one location for their information so we always know it is up-to-date and consistent with what other folks around campus are using.

My favorite thing about Blackbaud CRM is the side panel where it keeps my history. Often I switch between constituents to learn more about them and easy to go back and forth when I have history right there.

As someone who uses this for my specific college, I get frustrated with the Education tab. I can make the Education stay on my main screen, however, I cannot see the actual degree name of the person I'm looking at. When I'm trying to determine whether this person is an alumnus from my department, it would be great to see that at first glance instead of having to fish for it every time I bring up a record.

It's a great CRM system for robust records. You are able to store so much information about any one constituent or group. Blackbaud CRM categorizes the information so it's easy to find what you're looking for without scrolling and clicking for hours.

**What problems is Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently, the biggest business problem I'm solving with Blackbaud CRM is the ability to do a "fuzzy search". Our previous system did not allow this and it was difficult to identify an alumnus if they were going by a nick name or if they'd been married and didn't include their maiden name. Blackbaud CRM has allowed us to track these folks down and ensure their records are updated as we receive new information. Sometimes, the best way to locate someone is a first name and a city, and Blackbaud CRM has allowed us the ability to do this.

This system has been very user-friendly and gives me the ability to tackle multiple job duties within one platform. I can update contact information, send invitations for events, and track annual giving all using the same system. This makes my job much easier.

Some of the functions are limited. When you filter your selections they are automatically saved to those preferences and you have to unselect them during your next visit to get different search results.

Consolidated constituent database. I am able to maintain constituent records, send correspondence, verify educational background and track giving history all within one system.

Blackbaud's sales people were nice and made us feel like we were going to get something that was going to be very useful and efficient for our company. They were the last knowledgeable people we spoke to at BB and it was downhill immediately after we signed the agreement. 

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

BB customer service is terrible and unable to get invoicing right. They add on options/charges to our invoices that we didn't request and didn't use (because we didn't know we had). They can't FIX anything in the system and were zero help every time I called. It doesn't help that their employee turn-over is sky high.

Don't use Blackbaud. It is expensive and does not deliver on it's promises.

Blackbaud CRM has a much stronger Marketing and Communications function and allows organizations to further segment emails. Unlike the CRM that I used when using this CRM Blackbaud I was very good and easy to adapt, I really liked the fact of having quick access to the history.

It seems to me that in some cases, connecting takes a long time and hangs up. I work mostly with reports and I feel that it takes time to complete them and I feel that it asks for several requirements

If you want to work in an organized way and want to integrate other tools such as marketing, you can do it with Blackbaud. The good thing about this system is that it can be integrated very well in several business areas and can be for small or large companies

I like the way in which it handles, processes and reports multi-currencies for the Global Charity I work in. It means CRM can be accepted as central/global system easily.

I dislike the way lack of innovation to drive the product forward in line with the pace the sector demands. Many shortfalls of the product can be usually addressed with the assistance of 'Professional Services' at a cost.

If you're a small to medium sized charity, looking for a tool that delivers most Fundraising system features then this could be it. It will allow you to fairly quickly benefit and grow the different income streams using the many different features (the CRM can help "drive your charity forward").

I like that its fairly user friendly and you can see all the information for your people in one place. I like that you can run reports and they have a great chat feature which gives you a step by step tutorial if you are having a hard time figuring something out. I also like that you can use eTapesty and the merchant services portal separately if you don't want to use them both at once or if you switch to a new system.  

**What do you dislike about Blackbaud Enterprise Fundraising CRM?**

I don't like that its hard to run reports that need more than a couple requirements. Also, its doesn't walk to all the apps that we want to use and its hard to connect to our website.  There are also some CRMs that give better discounts to non-profits which would be helpful for us.

I would really dig into what data you need to get from this system before you choose it.  There is a lot of data that you can find and use, but it also its hard to use some of the reports.  You also want to pay attention to how well it will talk to the other apps that you use.  It is compatible with some, but not with others.

We are using it to track donor information for over 5,000 people. Its been good to see how much data we can mine for individuals.  We are able to track some payments as well as points of contact for each party that we work with.

CRM is a great place to hold all our constituent’s information over a whole national organization. It allows us to store contact information, financial information, which events our constituents attended, and how we’ve communicated with them.

Navigation of the site could be easier. There are a lot of layers to try to figure out. Combining profiles could also be easier when there are two different profiles for the same person.

Easy to navigate, it meets the requirements.for targets one might be reaching out to. It's not hard to get a handle on it once you've learned what it can do.

Restrictions on content,  which all software has in one way or another. Not being able to upload "large" images and other items that might crash any communication.
