short runtime is a problem sometimes, but this can be overcome with stepfunctions. whould be nice if you can decide to run the code either a container or as lambda. Even nicer if AWS can make that call automatically to convert lambdas to containers on run time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A great way to run bridging functions"

What do you like best about AWS Lambda?

The ability to quickly deploy a function that runs on a trigger. We use this a lot for bridging APIs that send and recieve data in different formats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about AWS Lambda?

AWS Lambda lets you write and run code in a number of different languages without having to provision resources/servers. I find it very useful to run one-time or event-driven code that reacts to changes in my AWS environment via SNS notifications and logs everything to CloudWatch. Very powerful and cost-effective. What do you dislike about AWS Lambda?

If you are interacting with other AWS services, then you need to know how to use the boto3 API in your lambda function. It will be very useful if there is IntelliSense for use of the same.

Also, it would be nice to have a way to easily upload custom packages, include and call them in your Lambda function. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is AWS Lambda solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use it to automate many things in my environment.

E.g. when team member releases new CloudFormation templates in S3 bucket, it triggers SNS notification which triggers Lambda function that has code to launch Stacks and add to SQS for testing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The big issue for the moment is the integration with VPC. Very slow to start (cold start)

The FaaS concept is useful for cost and efficiency. The graphical builder is useful for visualizing implementation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lack of PHP support. Triggers are very finnicky and often double-fire without a clue as to why. Log output comes into the log stream out of order, which makes development and testing difficult. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
