"Scale Computing is a great alternative to VMware"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

Scale Computing servers are reliable, fast, and easy to manage.

They are a serious alternative to VMware at times where those subscription fees skyrocketed.

They also have a good and responsive support team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

Even though servers are easy to manage, I think that the management interface could be more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Scale Computing - among the very best choices I have made as a network manager."
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

When creating VMs, setting up the # of CPUs, allocated memory and disk space is incredibly simple. I've set up VMs running Windows Server 2022, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows 10, Centos 7, and Redhat 8. In my opinion, one of the best features of Scale Computing is how easy I can manage my VMs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

Scale doesn't (at the time of this writing) support Microsoft's VM-Generation ID feature. This feature is intended to allow for the safe rollback of a Domain Controller from a snapshot when there is more than one Domain Controller in use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Cadillac for IT"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

Ease of use. Easier to build new VM's, and restore from snpashots when required. I had to restore one of our VM Servers, and within 3 clicks we had restored the server and had it up and running within a minute. It was such a relief and definitely helps to reduce stress. The system was easy to implement and to migrate existing VM's was easy as well. Integrating into our environment was simple and easy and prepping the network was a breeze. The use frequently, as the best part of this system is mostly set it and forget it unless you have to create a new VM. When I reach out to customer support, they are super firendly and really know their stuff. I said in the past I had never had a bad experience, but I did. Im going to leave my review at this point as the G2 review asked me to verify I was human and deleted the rest of my review which was taking me quite a bit to provide. What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

To be completely honest and transparent, the only issue I have is that you cant set a VM to run automatically upon powering up, especially after a power outage. It would be nice if this could be stup like with Microsoft Hyper-V.

Another issue we have come across, we do have some applications we run in house, bought commercially that wont run on the Linux Hypervisor. We have had to purchase a big enough desktop to run Hyper-V on it so we could run 4 programs. These programs are vital to our company and this is what we had to do to overcome this short comings. "Seamless Migration and Outstanding Support"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I use the Scale Computing Platform for all of our virtualization needs because of its outstanding platform performance. Our migration was easy, and the support has been excellent. I appreciate having a platform that is easily scalable with a clear upgrade path, which was important to our organization. Moving from our previous platform was simple and straightforward with no complications. The support was available every step and continues to be a valued resource when we have questions. Additionally, the initial setup was very simple; after just a few short conversations, we had a plan in place with the Project Manager and their team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

So far we have been totally happy with our purchase and decision Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Setup, Outstanding Support, and Flexible Snapshots"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I really like the ease of use. After just a few basic training sessions you are up to speed on most of what you'll ever need. Single pane of glass and simple to get around to everything from configuration to support. And the support is excellent. Several options from e-mail, chat, and when it's an emergency you can call and get an easy to understand support agent right away. I also like the flexibility in creating snapshots. You can create as many snapshots and be very granular which is helpful because you can always snapshot all severs on the same frequencies. Having all of your snapshots on a remote DR (separate purchased device) is well worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

Bringing over some of my VM's from my previous platform were a little cumbersome. Some came over just fine using the Scale tool, but some of them didn't work so well and I ended up using another tool to move some of my VMs. I still have one really old linux based system that I couldn't get migrated to Scale. But this really isn't a Scale issue, but it's something to keep in mind when transitioning to Scale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

The platform is dead simple to get going, and hard to break -- i.e. You can spin up a VM pretty quick and it's almost certainly going to start working with minimal configuration unlike competitors, where you have to ensure 8000 different settings are tweaked just right. Scale Hypercore is the virtualization equivalent of Nrivana -- plug it in and play, click the distortion pedal once, and get something you like. Competitors are a bit of a Wilco situation where, sure, it sounds nice, but I just watched the guitarist on his knees tweaking 4000 knobs to get that sound. That does not smell like teen spirit to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have, the facts of life. Well, sometimes the good is also the bad. Want more options to tune a VM? NO. So, you know, anyone looking to produce a Wilco-esque VM is going to have to settle for something a bit more grungy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Virtualization with Stellar Support"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I find the Scale Computing Platform extremely valuable for its ease of use, especially in creating and managing virtual servers. Its user-friendly interface enables me to easily create both Windows and Linux servers, which significantly simplifies virtualization tasks. The security features, along with the Business Upload Data Restoration (BUDR) solutions, provide peace of mind and ensure robust server management. I particularly appreciate the snapshot feature that allows local server backups, making restoration straightforward in case of issues. The transition from VMWare to Scale was smooth, and I am satisfied with the enhanced support provided by Scale, which is far superior to what I experienced previously. Additionally, Scale's compatibility with Acronis for both local and web-based backups, along with the added support for Veeam, offers flexibility and reliability in managing our backup solutions. The responsive customer support team further enhances my experience by promptly resolving hardware issues, such as the time when a RAM stick failed. I would confidently recommend the Scale Computing Platform due to these aspects, as it has proven to be a reliable and effective solution for our virtual environment needs. What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

The only challenge I encountered with Scale Computing Platform was during the initial setup, which required some training. Although the process of server transfer from VMware to Scale was straightforward, I faced an issue with the Microsoft licenses that needed to be purchased. This licensing issue prevented me from giving a perfect score of 10, as the transfer could have been smoother without this complication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Scale Has Grown on Me—Excited for Future Deployments!"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I have been with my company for about 6 months now. I came from a vmware community in past lives. At first I was like "What is Scale"? At first I really did not care for the product but after working with Sales and support I got to learn more about the product and quite honestly the product has grown on me. Currently we have a three node cluster in one school and I have purchased a fourth node (for another school). I cannot wait to deploy the product! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but over time the product has become easy for me to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Intuitive Platform with Some Setup Challenges"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I like the simple interface and management that Scale Computing Platform offers. It's easy to use with buttons for each action and makes it simple to connect to other Scale platforms. I appreciate the cloud management platform that provides a single pane of glass. Replicating to other Scale clusters is straightforward, and I find uploading VMDK disks and attaching them to a VM template quite efficient. Cloning also works very efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

I dislike the lack of compatible templates from virtual appliance providers and the lack of insight into the hardware and issues. It's frustrating to need to add an entire node just for additional resources. I'm also not a fan of the total reliance on support to resolve any deep-level issues. Additionally, I found the migration really hard for operating systems that were not Windows-based. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Stable, Easy Setup, and Excellent Support"
What do you like best about Scale Computing Platform?

I really like how stable the Scale Computing Platform is and the ease of adding additional nodes into the cluster. The superior support and excellent uptime are big pluses for me. The hardware is robust and easily manageable, which makes my work much smoother. It's also very easy to set up; we had the clusters up and running in under 25 minutes. The cost difference from VMware and the support were significant factors in our decision to switch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Scale Computing Platform?

Would love to see more options on the GUI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
