What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) does not support physical dongle-based licenses, which is an issue for some of our university's software. This requires us to purchase additional LAN to physical device solutions, adding to our costs and complexity. I also feel that the inclusion of a dashboard summarizing all physical servers and their resource utilization would be beneficial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Reliable and Easy-to-Manage Platform for Modern Virtual Infrastructure"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

What I like most about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure is how it simplifies the management of an otherwise complex environment. The centralized interface feels clean and intuitive, which noticeably reduces day-to-day operational effort. Tasks that previously required multiple tools or coordination across teams - such as storage management, scaling resources, or monitoring performance - can now be handled from a single console. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

The biggest downside is the cost, especially for smaller environments or organizations with limited budgets. Licensing can also feel complex, and it isn’t always easy to estimate expenses upfront without careful planning. Some of the more advanced features come with a learning curve, particularly for teams transitioning from more traditional infrastructure setups. While support is generally solid, resolution times can occasionally be slower when the issue isn’t considered critical. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

There isn’t much to dislike, but the main challenge with Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) is that some advanced features can require deeper technical knowledge to fully optimise. The initial setup and architecture planning can also feel complex for organisations new to hyper‑converged infrastructure. Additionally, licensing can become expensive as environments scale, which is something teams need to factor in early. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

While Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure is stable and easy to use, the initial setup and licensing model can be complex. More detailed documentation and simpler licensing options would improve the overall experience. Integration with certain third-party tools could be smoother, and more built-in reporting options would be helpful for day-to-day monitoring. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Deployment with Impressive output"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

I like that NCI is very easy to deploy, manage, and scale. The hyperconverged design removes a lot of complexity from traditional infrastructure, and the Prism interface makes day-to-day operations simple with clear monitoring and one-click upgrades. Performance has been consistently strong, and the platform works well for both on-prem and hybrid-cloud environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

The main downside is cost Nutanix can be more expensive than traditional virtualization or some competing HCI solutions. A few areas of the interface could also be more intuitive, such as VM lists and event alerts, and some upgrades or troubleshooting still require expert assistance. The ecosystem isn’t as broad as major public-cloud providers, which can matter for workloads requiring wide regional coverage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust Cloud Solution with Some Network Challenges"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

I find Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) incredibly valuable for its comprehensive infrastructure capabilities, where everything I need is packaged in a single solution, referred to as a 'box.' I appreciate the inclusion of virtual technology that offers flexibility and openness to integrate with other technologies, which provides us, as customers, the freedom to choose virtual tech based on our budget constraints. The solution excels in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) versus Return on Investment (ROI), allowing us to adapt our infrastructure according to our financial capacity. I particularly admire NCI's online self-healing capabilities and the ability to replace parts online, which has significantly improved our infrastructure's uptime to a commendable level of 'six nines.' These features enhance our operational reliability and ensure continuous service availability. Additionally, my team has been empowered and better equipped with knowledge from Nutanix University, facilitating a smoother adoption and maximizing the benefits of the NCI platform. What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) requires high-grade and bandwidth-equipped network switches, which creates a critical dependency and makes the setup more complex. The existing Prism Central dashboard needs enhancements, particularly in providing detailed executive dashboards that offer insights into network packet movements, including the total packet reception and transmission over time and the error rates associated with these packets. "A Deep Dive into Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure: Pros, Cons, and Ecosystem"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

Simplified Management and Operations,True Hybrid Multicloud Agility,Resilience and Security,Comprehensive Security: Security features include data-at-rest encryption, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), and advanced network security with microsegmentation (Nutanix Flow) to isolate workloads and prevent the lateral spread of threats. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

Cost and Licensing Complexity-remium Pricing: Nutanix is often positioned as a premium solution, and its initial capital expenditure can be higher than traditional three-tier infrastructure or some competitors, especially for organizations with smaller-scale needs.

Licensing Model: While designed to be flexible and portable, the licensing structure itself can become complex. It is typically based on physical CPU cores and involves different tiers (Pro, Ultimate) which lock certain advanced features (like microsegmentation or advanced disaster recovery) behind higher-priced editions or add-ons. This makes it difficult to predict the total cost when adding features or scaling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Workflow and Seamless Scaling with NCI"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

Honestly, what I appreciate most about NCI is how much it simplifies my daily work. Having everything—storage, compute, and networking—in one place means I no longer have to switch between countless different tools. The dashboard is intuitive, allowing me to accomplish most tasks without having to navigate through complex menus. Updates are much easier compared to our previous system, often requiring just a few clicks. And when it's time to scale up, it's no longer a major hassle; we simply add nodes and continue working without interruption. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

The pricing is definitely on the higher side, making it more of a significant investment rather than a budget option for smaller operations. If you're used to traditional infrastructure, there is a noticeable learning curve—our team needed a few weeks to feel truly at ease with the system. I also found that some parts of the documentation, especially those covering edge cases, could be more clearly written. Explaining the licensing model to management turned out to be more challenging than expected. Still, in the grand scheme of things, these issues are relatively minor compared to the overall value you receive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplifies Management, Cloud-Like Experience"
What do you like best about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

I love Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) for its simplicity and the way it offers a cloud-like user journey, making complex tasks feel straightforward and accessible. The one-click operations are a massive time-saver, reducing management complexity and making day-to-day operations more efficient. Additionally, NCI impresses me with its ability to reduce both Capital Expenditure (Capex) and Operational Expenditure (Opex), which significantly lowers the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The platform's ability to consolidate traditional infrastructure components into a single, unified console simplifies my workflow and decreases the need for multiple consoles and various skill sets, contributing to an easier and more streamlined management process. Moreover, the public cloud-like experience that NCI delivers is invaluable, providing flexibility and scalability that enhances business operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI)?

I find it restrictive that Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) only supports certified hardware, limiting flexibility despite its support for many OEMs. While AHV is robust, it lacks some of the richer features offered by VMware, such as SR-IOV and certain DRS capabilities, which can hinder more advanced use cases. Additionally, I believe the networking aspect could be more intuitive for streamlined operations. Lastly, although the initial setup of NCI was not overly difficult, I encountered challenges specifically with the NSX part, suggesting potential improvements in that area.
