One of AutoCAD’s biggest drawbacks is its high subscription cost, which can be especially tough for individual users or small businesses. AutoCAD helps me solve problems related to precise technical drafting, design accuracy, and overall project organization. 1) Seperation of Modules:- there are many add on modules and License files which needs efforts to tailor the specific need of the user to get appropriate licenses.

There are a few areas that could be improved. Occasionally, when working with larger complex drawings, the software may experience slight performance slowdowns. ZWCAD helps me create, edit, and review engineering drawings without compatibility issues. In my role as a Senior Project Engineer, I often work with supplier drawings, manufacturing layouts, and project documentation. Before using ZWCAD, drawing revisions and file sharing could take extra time, especially when working with different teams. Really sorry to say this, but in recent years, the problems are getting bigger and bigger. :-( We constantly have random errors every day where functions in Solid Edge don't work as they should. And Solid Edge crashes very often without being able to save. And worst of all: 85% of the tickets we report are closed by Siemens, without being investigated because all the errors appear per random and cannot be reproduced. Since 10 years they tell us: The crashes will be fixed with next version, but its never finished. One minor downside to GeoHECHMS is that, like most powerful modeling tools, there can be a bit of a learning curve when you’re first getting started—especially if you’re new to GIS-integrated workflows. Some of the more advanced features and settings take a little time to fully understand.

GeoHECHMS is solving one of the biggest challenges in hydrologic modeling—bridging the gap between GIS data and a fully built, reliable model. Instead of spending hours manually delineating basins, transferring data, and double-checking inputs across multiple platforms, it brings everything into a single, cohesive workflow.

For me, that means significantly reducing the time and effort required to set up models while also minimizing the potential for errors. It handles a lot of the repetitive and detail-heavy tasks, which improves consistency across projects and gives me greater confidence in the results.

It’s also helping with efficiency under tight deadlines. I can move from raw terrain data to a functioning model much faster, iterate more easily when conditions change, and spend more time focusing on analysis and design rather than setup.

One area where GeoSTORM could improve is in its error reporting system. When an error occurs, there are no specific error codes or detailed messages to help identify the cause or suggest possible solutions. Rebuild errors. I think SOLIDWORKS should integrate a system that can detect rebuild errors and help resolve the issue. Sometimes, while I’m applying commands, it shows rebuild errors, and after that I’m not able to find where the errors are coming from. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SOLIDWORKS helps reduce the cost of prototyping. With this software, I can create almost any part, choose materials using the Appearances section, and then run different types of analysis with SOLIDWORKS Simulation.

As a third-year mechanical engineering student, I regularly model parts and assemblies, which has really helped me improve my skills. Right now I’m working on a project where I design parts in SOLIDWORKS, convert them to an .stl file, and then print them on a 3D printer. Overall, it makes my work much easier. It can natively read and write a vast number of file formats, including DWG, point clouds, reality meshes, and GIS data (like Esri File Geodatabase), often without requiring a lossy conversion. I am a high school teacher, and one of my subjects is digital fabrication. I introduced my students to this fantastic software during the course, and after a couple of trial and error processes, they can design and print 3D models and use their designs to laser cut. The major factor is the 'bug splat". Despite its versions and performance have upgraded tremendously over the years, SketchUp is still prone to crashes when models become overly heavy with un-purged components.. Also, complex geometry cannot be easily created without third-party plugins. When I work on large assemblies, Inventor crashes suddenly, and sometimes there's no mouse movement showing. The model feature in drawings for exploded views is not working well. These issues may be resolved by upgrading the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
