The major factor is the 'bug splat". Despite its versions and performance have upgraded tremendously over the years, SketchUp is still prone to crashes when models become overly heavy with un-purged components.. Also, complex geometry cannot be easily created without third-party plugins. Rebuild errors. I think SOLIDWORKS should integrate a system that can detect rebuild errors and help resolve the issue. Sometimes, while I’m applying commands, it shows rebuild errors, and after that I’m not able to find where the errors are coming from. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

SOLIDWORKS helps reduce the cost of prototyping. With this software, I can create almost any part, choose materials using the Appearances section, and then run different types of analysis with SOLIDWORKS Simulation.

As a third-year mechanical engineering student, I regularly model parts and assemblies, which has really helped me improve my skills. Right now I’m working on a project where I design parts in SOLIDWORKS, convert them to an .stl file, and then print them on a 3D printer. Overall, it makes my work much easier. One thing I dislike about Autodesk Fusion is that it is highly dependent on an internet connection for sign-in and cloud features, which can be inconvenient when working with limited or unstable connectivity. Sometimes the software also feels resource-heavy, especially on mid-range systems, causing slowdowns during complex assemblies or simulations.

Another drawback is that some advanced features are locked behind paid plans, which can be limiting for students or individual users who want to explore deeper CAM or simulation capabilities. Occasional updates also change the interface slightly, which takes some time to adjust to.

One thing I don’t like about artificial intelligence is that it is not always perfectly accurate and sometimes gives information that needs to be double-checked. It also cannot fully understand human emotions or personal situations like a real person can. One thing I didn’t like initially about Coohom was that the interface felt a bit overwhelming. BricsCAD still requires a Windows runtime, which limits containerization options and prevents fully serverless deployments. Running GUI‑based software in headless EC2 environments also requires tuning to avoid session timeouts. Licensing management on cloud instances could be more streamlined for large automation fleets. We use BricsCAD to automate CAD processing inside AWS. Engineers upload DWG files to S3, which triggers a Lambda workflow that calls BricsCAD on EC2 via Systems Manager. The automation scripts validate drawings, extract block attributes, generate PDFs, and publish outputs back to S3. Metadata is cataloged with Glue and queried through Athena for reporting and analytics.
