  ### 4. Paging for Your Phone Without Giving Out Your Number

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Blake C. | Medical Student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Spok?**

I like that I can avoid the awkwardness of asking for another provider's phone number. I can also avoid giving my own number to people who don't really need it other than asking 1-2 questions. The app is customizable to allow for the right amount of alerts for emergencies and subtleness for simple questions. It helps to improve patient care by aligning teams and communications between staff. I also enjoy that I can remove notifications, turn it on "away" mode, and keep my sanity when I am not on call.

**What do you dislike about Spok?**

I dislike that there is a character limit with your messages. Sometimes I wish I could write more, but I also understand that it is designed to replace pagers, which have even more limited space for messages. It is adequate to get the point across and initiate communication if necessary. I just wish you had the option between sending a page vs. sending a message. That would be helpful for managing situations remotely instead of having to make an appearance.

**Recommendations to others considering Spok:**

Learn what all the settings are prior to engaging in use. It will help you not annoy others.

**What problems is Spok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The most benefit I've noticed from using this product is the ability to disconnect from the hospital once I'm off shift. Being able to enjoy the use of my cell phone without worrying about getting paged, or called for patient care allows me to live my life without the stress of never disconnecting from my job.

  ### 5. Amazing product that will increase efficiency and patient satisfaction in weeks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simon L. | Administrator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 04, 2019

**What do you like best about Spok?**

The best part of Spok is how easy it is to use and implement, and how the patients are seen much faster because physicians communicated with them faster. Therefore, labs are done quicker, etc.

**What do you dislike about Spok?**

Spok can sometimes lag and get behind, which I know is frustrating to some physicians when they need to know a patient answer immediately.

**Recommendations to others considering Spok:**

Spok is an incredible product. It allows physicians and staff to communicate timely and ensure the best quality care is being delivered. additionally, all of the staff truly love it, they say it makes their lives so much easier.

**What problems is Spok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The benefits are endless. Patient satisfaction, increased work productivity, increased communication between staff.

  ### 6. Spok mobile for hospital paging

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samuel C. | Graduate Student, Hospital & Health Care, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Spok?**

I like that I don't have to carry a physical pager, and that I can add different pagers to my account. I like that there are different ring tones you can choose for different pages. It is simple to use and it is reliable.

**What do you dislike about Spok?**

The software is slow and sometimes shuts down. It is annoying that I can't take a new pager via the app, I need to call the Hospital Operator to transfer a pager. I would appreciate it if I could text more easily via Spok, but you can't text someone with a ghost pager. I also dislike that every number is de-identified, and I can't automatically see who is paging me (and that person doesn't necessarily see who I am when I page them. It would be better if you could set up a profile so your contact information is automatically included with pages.

**Recommendations to others considering Spok:**

I would recommend first changing the ringtone from the automatic one (there are many different options to choose from). This is the only mobile paging service that I have used and overall it is very effective. I would recommend it, as long as you don't mind that you often can't text and need to communicate with phone calls.

**What problems is Spok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem is communication in the hospital. The benefits are that I can have a personal pager where I can always be reached, as well as take on other pagers temporarily to be reached for different purposes.

  ### 7. Spok user (upgraded from AMCOM days)

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Spok?**

Decent mobile platform. Improved with recent upgrade. Works well on iOS devices.

**What do you dislike about Spok?**

Still not as intuitive as many messaging apps (such as WhatsApp or even apple iMessage). Interface clunky at times on mobile app. Web console is adequate but not mind blowing.

**Recommendations to others considering Spok:**

Do your homework in a pretty crowded secure messaging space. There is a lot of competition for SPOK and depending on your needs and existing infrastructure you may be better served with other products.

**What problems is Spok solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Wanted to force a secure (HIPPA compliant) messaging platform to move users away from SMS texting and traditional pagers. In that regard (because it was mandated) it was successful. Some use cases of integrating paging / SPOK rules directly into our EMR for things like sepsis alerting and medical consults which was also successful. This was more a product of special work within the EMR rather than some unique ability of SPOK.

  ### 8. Efficient in the Healthcare Field

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

Unfortunately not the best for record keeping on Zebra phone devices.

Ease of having reference on my handheld device, I find myself relying on Spok to keep me organized.

  ### 9. Spok is very helpful in communicating with others when they cannot be located or sharing information

Hard to tell who is sending messages and who it is for when you are in large spok groups.
