A good balance between pricing, features, and set-up for SEO testing **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Micah F. | VP of SEO & Content, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022 **What do you like best about SplitSignal?** Set-up is a relative breeze for an SEO split testing tool, which is key when having to get corporate buy-in and dev implementation. I can place more trust in running a split test through Semrush's SplitSignal than manually trying to judge it for myself, plus it has additional flexibility on testing between number of pages or amount of traffic. **What do you dislike about SplitSignal?** It's still early days for the tool, so I'd like to see more features available and more clear results that can be shared in a way that non-stat folks would understand (or at least align with the same structures that standard AB testing tools' results use). Some UI changes to make it easier to find (or remember how to enter!) the parts of the page I want to change when it's not visually present. **What problems is SplitSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?** The tool reduces SEO implementation uncertainty and increases the speed at which I can learn (or disprove) new SEO tactics. Further, it allows me to put more confidence in the changes I want to make that ordinarily might be hard to justify (i.e.: what percentage lift would said implementation lead to?). ### 2. I really like being able to custom upload fields/features (i.e. rather than testing a title tag template, testing a human-optimized title tag). The SplitSignal team is also super responsive in assisting with test setup that's less straightforward. **What do you dislike about SplitSignal?** It's a limitation of data science/confidence levels, but having an option that can provide data for smaller sites would be great. Would love to be able to measure results for pages that the test wasn't run on, but that impacted it. For example, testing canonicalizing paginated URLs back to the main page - how does that affect P1 performance for a category, versus other P1s that don't have all paginated URLs canonicalized. Would also love for avg. position and CTR% metrics to be included. **What problems is SplitSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?** It makes it clearer and faster for clients to see SEO results. Whereas you typically implement and monitor performance, it's often hard to tell the story of how much of the traffic improvement is directly related to your change (versus external factors). This makes that explanation much easier - as well as making the ROI case for a certain implementation. We definitely run into dev teams not having the bandwidth to prioritize certain SEO optimizations. This makes our case. ### 3. We've made some nice wins already that will grow our traffic and revenue. The onboarding process was flexible and the level of involvement of SEMrush support and/or third-party agencies depends on my needs and wishes. **What do you dislike about SplitSignal?** The functionality is still a bit limited. The main thing I'd like them to add first is the option to add elements to the page, which currently isn't possible. In addition, the representatives weren't totally transparent about the price of the trial and product, they could improve this. **What problems is SplitSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?** SplitSignal is allowing us to test SEO variations without developer involvement, which has been a big bottleneck for us in the best. We're already seeing real-life improvements to our traffic and revenue. ### 4. It's helpful for us to make decisions based on these results and implement them onsite if we wanted to. The tool selects the best pages to perform the tests on which saves us a lot of time! **What do you dislike about SplitSignal?** The tool can be a little slow, especially when dealing with a lot of pages. Also, some of the test features do not work as fluidly with our site given the code on our pages. **What problems is SplitSignal solving and how is that benefiting you?** SplitSignal helps us make SEO decisions to improve ranking and organic traffic.
