We started using it just for bidding—which is great because you can make multiple versions and send over these super slick, custom PDF presentations—but it quickly became our "everything" tool. The real magic is the cashless production workflow. We assign digital credit cards to Department Heads and Keys, and they track their spending against their specific budgets in real-time. They just snap a photo of the receipt and upload it right there. Our PMs and LPs aren’t flying blind anymore; they can see exactly where the money is while the cameras are still rolling. Then, at the end, crews and vendors submit their invoices through the platform, and we pay via ACH. It’s saved us countless hours of "heavy lifting" during wrap. **What do you dislike about Saturation?** We started using it early on and there wasn't a lot of instructions and there is multiple ways to do things which is great and can be confusing at times. The good thing is it's easy to use and learn but sometimes I feel like I'm not using all the power of the full system. Now there is AI chatbot which does a good job of answering questions and the team members jump in fast to make sure questions where answered quickly. Honestly any drawbacks are so minor to the wins of using this software. It's quickly become my most used software as an Executive Producer. **What problems is Saturation solving and how is that benefiting you?** We came from the world of AICP / Excel sheets and Hot Budgets. (We have even tried Movie Magic) We were juggling a whole series of different, disconnected systems to handle bidding, tracking, and payroll. It was way too easy for things to fall through the cracks, and wrapping the financials of a project used to take forever. Now, I feel like our projects are basically wrapped the second the shoot ends. Since jumping into Saturation, we haven't looked back. It was surprisingly easy to implement, and we are now almost totally cashless. Every dollar is tracked in real-time without us having to do the manual labor. It makes us look incredibly professional to our clients and gives our production team total peace of mind. ### 2. As a producer, it can be very tedious to create multiple versions of a budget and it couldn't be easier using the platform. I recently used Saturation for 2 different network series and found it to be very robust and provide the level of functionality required by major studios and streamers. **What do you dislike about Saturation?** While I've loved working with Saturation from a budgeting standpoint, the production accounting piece is currently not robust enough to provide the cost reports and trial balance required by most networks. The good news is that the amazing team at Saturation is working to offer this as a solution which we really take the platform to the next level. **What problems is Saturation solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helps me manage multiple versions of the budget with ease and quickly iterate based on feedback internally or from our partners. I've used Saturation across both original premium episodic series airing on TV as well as branded content campaigns and find that it's flexible to offer robust solutions for both use cases. ### 3. As a producer, I don't want to relearn budgeting software every time. Saturation.io makes it very user-friendly to access and utilize. Additionally, the reports are industry standard for budgeting. I also use the fringes to estimate my overall taxes. The support is responsive and you can even import an budget from Movie Magic Budgeting into here which is something I do often, if I am translating a budget from another line-producer. **What do you dislike about Saturation?** The downside is that not enough people know about it. If line producers were more aware of this program, I would not have to translate their budget into the software. I like Saturation.io and will continue to use it. **What problems is Saturation solving and how is that benefiting you?** Saturation solves the ability to collaborate with my peers on a budget. Traditional budgeting software's our outdated and hard to navigate. Saturation unlocks ease with being hosted on the cloud, allowing my team to access real-time changes. ### 4. Replaced Five Tools. This pulled everything into one place that actually makes sense. Getting set up wasn't a project in itself either; I was building real budgets in it within the first day, not spending weeks migrating data or learning a system built for a different industry. As someone running a commercial production company, the biggest win for me is having my budget and actuals in the same system. I'm not exporting CSVs, messing around with complicated formulas, and cross-referencing numbers between tools. When getting started on a new budget, I can build from my own custom templates I've created myself, or use AICP or other industry-standard budget templates Saturation provides. The whole experience seems to be built around how prod co owners and producers real world workflows (not on generic accounting software), and that difference is noted every day. I use it on every project. It's become my production company's financial operating system (integrating with Quickbooks). **What do you dislike about Saturation?** There are occasional UX rough edges. That said, the team is actively improving and responsive to feedback, so these feel like small growing pains rather than fundamental problems. **What problems is Saturation solving and how is that benefiting you?** Bidding on commercial jobs used to mean rebuilding budgets from scratch every time a client wanted a variation, with different shoot days, different location, different crew. Now all I have to do is build once and iterate. Crew rates carry over from previous projects, so a V1 budget that used to take hours comes together in under an hour. When you're trying to win work, turnaround matters. The bigger shift has been on the expense side. Saturation Pay (their expense management tool) lets me issue P-cards tied to specific projects (and departments), so when crew spends, it hits actuals automatically. There's no more receipt chasing, or manual reconciliation at wrap on a project. Budget and spend live in the same system. Before this, I was stitching together budgeting, tracking, and reporting across tools that didn't talk to each other, and every gap between them was also a potential mistake. Running a production company means wearing a lot of hats, and having one tool built specifically for how production works has removed a real layer of stress from every job. I could never go back to using something else. ### 5.
