**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

Where do I even start! MediaHQ is so easy to use; their press release creator works perfectly and makes the whole process so smooth. The database is frequently updated, which saves so much time and takes away the worry of emails bouncing back. Contacts are tagged, which allows you to reach journalists most likely interested in the topic you're communicating. I just love this platform so much; it saved us a tremendous amount of money by moving PR in-house. I'd recommend it to any communications & PR professionals! Also, just to add - their team is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed, which only adds to the excellence of this product.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

There's nothing that popped up so far - the whole process is very smooth, and works perfectly.

**What problems is MediaHQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Additional PR cost. That's for sure. It allowed us to move our PR in-house.
2. Time! Working with external agencies, I still spent a lot of time providing the information, correcting press releases, etc. Now I can do it in-house, which saves me so much time.
3. Efficiency. Due to the cost cut, I can contact the media more frequently, as opposed to big PR campaigns 2-3 times a year.

Ease of use of the platform, for managing press lists, campaigns and press release distribution.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

No cons. The only thing I’d mention is that I feel like I miss updates on the dashboard. It would be great if updates could be filtered, or if I could receive notifications related to my area of interest.

It helps with managing press lists as well as handling data management in line with the relevant regulations. Overall, it enables a more seamless approach with less administrative work.

**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

The support team are amazing and very quick to come back when I have questions or queries. I enjoy using the list manager too and I like that duplicates are always filtered out when sending releases.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

I find the searchability on the dashboard quite glitchy sometimes- sometimes it's quite easy to find media contacts and other times, less so. Very inconsistent. I also dislike how glitchy the formatting on press releases can be when drafting - fonts, spacing, etc.

**What problems is MediaHQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving the issue of having no centralised system to organise our media contacts. It's also helpful to mitigate sending individual pitch emails which is very time consuming. 

I also like using MediaHQ as a discovery tool - it makes it easier to find specific media contacts who cover specific themes or issues, geographic regions, etc.

I honestly can think of any downsides. They are always finding new ways to improve the system which is good as it does not allow it to become static.

Because Media HQ provides a range of press contact lists, from national to regional, and keeps them maintained and up to date, it saves me valuable time when researching audiences since the lists are right at my fingertips.

**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

MediaHQ has become an essential tool in my role as Deputy Director of Communications at daa, the operator of Dublin and Cork airports because it takes the complexity out of media engagement. Its constantly updated database gives instant access to accurate journalist contacts, complete with bios and social media insights, so I can target the right people with confidence. The distribution process is very straightforward, saving time and reducing stress. Built-in analytics turn guesswork into clarity by showing who opened, clicked, or bounced, helping me refine our approach. Knowing the platform is fully GDPR compliant provides peace of mind, while the responsive customer service team ensures you always feel supported. Combined with flexible list options and the ability to pivot quickly during changing circumstances, MediaHQ delivers reliability, speed, and insight that make communications more effective and efficient.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

MediaHQ is a great tool overall but there are a few things I'd love to see tweaked. For scheduled deliveries of releases they can sometimes go 5 minutes after the allocated time which is annoying. Also the search facility could offer more filters and specialisms. It’s brilliant for Ireland and the UK, but when I’m working on campaigns with an international angle, the coverage outside these regions is limited. Uploading my own lists is awkward, having to add them individually. The press release editor could be smoother too. Copying from Word doesn’t always keep the formatting clean. Mobile access isn’t ideal and is very cumbersome, which makes it harder in a crisis when I’m on the move.  Finally, there’s no built-in media monitoring beyond distribution and analytics, which means I need to use other tools for full campaign insight.

**What problems is MediaHQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For our communications team at daa, MediaHQ has taken away a lot of the pain points that used to slow us down. Before we adopted it, managing journalist contacts was a real challenge. Lists were on individual laptops, sometimes out of date and sharing them between Dublin and Cork colleagues raised GDPR concerns. MediaHQ solved that by giving us a single, secure database that’s always current and fully compliant, so we can work confidently without worrying unduly about data protection.
Distributing press releases used to be a time-consuming process, with manual emails and endless copy-pasting. Now, it’s streamlined: we upload the release, select the right lists, and schedule it in minutes. That efficiency means we can focus on the message rather than the mechanics. Another big win is visibility. Previously, we had no clear way to see who opened or engaged with our media releases. MediaHQ’s analytics also changed that, giving us an insight into performance and helping us refine our approach.
Scaling communications across Ireland's two leading airports at Dublin and Cork, was another challenge. MediaHQ has made it easier by supporting multiple licences and user roles, so Dublin and Cork colleagues can collaborate seamlessly. In short, MediaHQ has solved issues of compliance, speed, accuracy, and coordination,  all of which are critical for a busy daa Comms team.

Easy to use platform. Really helpful for scheduling. The team behind the scenes are also really helpful with any issues. It's also really useful for looking up journalists etc in the database.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

The only issue we've had is that if I make notes on my account, my colleagues don't seem to be able to see these notes.

Being able to schedule press releases outside of our working hours is so helpful. The directory for looking people up also comes in very handy. The reporting on open-rates etc is useful too

**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

I like Media HQ because it is easy to use and gives me immediate access to information I frequently need for my daily/weekly media relations activities. The journalists data base is accurate, up to date and offers fast, in-depth list building, while press release distribution is straight forward and hassle free. On top of that, their customer support is excellent - from onboarding to ongoing queries - with quick and easy communication. A special shoutout to Pauline, who always goes above and beyond to look after us.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

Occasionally adding more advanced filtering that could make targeting even quicker. That said, it's a minor trade-off given how strong the platform is overall.

It can time you out quite quickly some times but it's not a huge issue!

It makes it easy to keep tabs of journalist, they date is always up to date, its easy to access so there is no need to keep a "data base" of journalists yourself that may be ever changing and out of date. It also keeps all of your old releases and performance data which is so helpful.

**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

I like everything about the platform particularly the list hub feature and how easy it makes managing your media contacts and the different lists you can have access to. The way the platform manages GDPR compliance is so handy and means we don't have to worry about it as an organisation. We use the platform regularly and it would require a whole other persons job if we had to manage internal lists ourselves. It streamlines the way we issue press releases and makes mine and my teams jobs easier.

There aren't any downsides to the platform that I can think of.

I love how reliable it feels. The journalist database is always up to date, which takes the guesswork out of who to contact. Building lists is quick and simple, and once those are ready, sending multiple press releases is smooth and efficient. I also really value the velocity grading — being able to see open rates at a glance gives a clear sense of how well each release is landing. Whenever I have had questions, their customer service has been prompt and helpful.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

Very little, to be honest. The one thing I’d love is a conversion score — something that shows which outlets have actually picked up and published the release. That extra layer would make an already great platform even stronger.

One of the challenges I had was figuring out the best times to share press releases. I reached out to the MediaHQ team and they came back really quickly with clear, practical advice. Since then, I’ve noticed more of my releases being picked up and published. It’s a small change but it’s made a big difference — having that support and guidance on top of the platform itself feels like a real benefit.

The media lists remove the stress of having to find journalists and media contacts yourself. It's a real advantage that they are updated regularly.

I wish the News Feed section offered a more interactive and user-friendly experience. It would also be helpful if it featured releases that have performed well, along with case studies or insights related to those successes.

Control over own media releases. Significant contact base. Very easy to use. Support team are amazing and very patient. Pre-emptive sessions to keep me up to date with my account and updates to my account.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

Personally speaking - AI inclusion. Also I don't use it enough and need to get refreshers a bit. If I did the cost would be more worth it as well.

It is a full data base all in one. I have previously had to update media list myself and don't have to do it. I can log in at any time and be 99% sure the contacts re up to date.

Media HQ is great to create lists on what kind of target media i want for my Press Releases. Its great that i can find all my drafted/saved/published PR and see what kind of journalists i want to target with it.

Maybe that should be a feature on suggested new media journalists for my PR without manually being me to search for them and add in to my own created lists. Thinking if a new journalists/newspaper is new on the platform

**What problems is MediaHQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Media HQ solves me time consuming problems, as in if i want to send out a press release i just have to think about the target media i want and the lists with the journalists are already made. Also, i can search for the specific journalist i want and i have their contact numbers.

I find MediaHQ a useful tool to manage traditional pr. I like that the journalists lists are automatically updated.

I would like a tracking option too. When we are mentioned on the homepage. This would be useful.

I've had to send emergency releases from holidays and being able to access contacts from anywhere at any time is hugely helpful. I've found customer support excellent over the years. Also having our stakeholder list outside the Cork City Council IT system is a cyber security win.

I know there are lots of extra features but I never get the chance to try them out due to time constraints

The best thing about Media HQ is its ease of use. It's pretty fool proof and besides reaching all the right contacts, it has numerous enhanced features that I find super useful,

The only downside for me is Media HQ is not rolled out to other territories worldwide. It is in the UK but I find it's strength territory is Ireland.

The Irish media contacts database, when updated is very useful. Being able to schedule press releases. Searching contacts.
Customer care is very good and responses are fast.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

It is not user-friendly when I am accessing via my mobile phone.
I really dislike that I cannot copy the email addresses now. We already pay a huge cost for the service, the prevention of copy/paste makes it less user-friendly and does not make sense.
I purchased the European media contacts but find this very disappointing - it is a basic list of newsdesks which I could have via colleagues here.
The price is constantly increasing.

The database of media contacts is extensive and updated every day, which gives me confidence that my pitches and press releases are reaching the right targets.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

Manually updating media lists is a little frustrating and it needs to be done daily to stay on top of changes, which isn't always possible depending on workload and other commitments. Would be great if updates to existing lists could process automatically.

It provides up-to-date lists of relevant journalists that I need to reach with different content. I support a huge diversity of researchers across many different academic subjects and it would be hugely time consuming for me to have to compile and maintain my own specialist lists without access to this database.

**What do you like best about MediaHQ?**

I have been using MediaHQ for almost ten years and it is a vital tool if you want to connect, communicate and create genuine connections with your media stakeholders.

Incredibly user-friendly platform. Information and contact details are constantly updated which allows us to target key contacts and deliver successful campaigns every time.

The platform is consistently evolving with some clever add-on tools which are constantly increasing the value we get for our service. 

Our account manager (Rachel) is incredible - she's always on-hand to provide information on the new updates and is always immediately available in the rare event that I need support.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

Nothing. Once you start using MediaHQ, you will find it very difficult to go back to relying on spreadsheets and Outlook contact lists to keep your media book up to date.

**What problems is MediaHQ solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The platform helps us to communicate with the right people with a message that's relevant to them. Since I started using the service, I have seen an obvious increase in our earned media coverage with our potential audience maximised by the Media HQ tool.

Personally, I find local media coverage is often overlooked by some but Media HQ provide high-detail personalised regional and special interest lists which ensure we hit the right audience every time.

Being able to compile your own lists is very handy - the tailored feature means I can be more targeted in my approach to media. 
The time it saves is so valuable!
Customer service team are very prompt in their response.
The plug-in to add contacts from an online article is very handy.

It would be great to pass logins to a colleague when I'm on annual leave so they can issue on my behalf.

MediaHQ has been an invaluable resource for our team.  We've been able to compile PR lists quickly and easily and it gives us a single point for management of our press releases and versioning.  The support team have been quick to respond whenever we've had a question.  Overall, it has saved us many manhours of time compiling and managing lists and distributing press releases.

**What do you dislike about MediaHQ?**

We haven't had any major issues.  I would like to take more advantage of the AI features that have been introduced. Possibly a little light on some of the trade titles but the customer service team have been very responsive when I've suggested additions to the database.

It's time-consuming to compile target lists and then stay on top of all the changes.  It's been great to have this at our fingertips.

Having a readymade template for releases and being able to see what it will look like in inboxes is very helpful but having media lists to easily send material to is a game-changer in terms of time and efficiency. It is also great for getting accurate contact information.

Before, we were working off email and that took time in terms in inputting addresses. Media HQ makes it quicker to do, and you get instant feedback on the open rate etc which is a bonus

I think some of the greatest assets of Media HQ are its well-designed, easy to use interface where it is straightforward to access any tools you need and its extensive and ready to go press lists. However, what really sets it apart is its brilliant Customer Service Team. It is reassuring to know that you can pick up the phone or send an email which will be responded to quickly if you have any queries.

Media HQ is an expensive tool for organisations like ourselves who are not issuing on a weekly basis.

Media HQ makes issuing press releases and photographs easy and fast. It is useful to be able to see a media outlet's reach and publication dates in the planning of an event or press release. Our communications team is small and collating our own lists would take a lot of time away from other important tasks. Media HQ tends to have the most up to date information on journalists and news outlets too.
