I like that PR Newswire makes it easy to distribute press releases to journalists and helps boost SEO for our client's news. The UX updates in the past year have made the workflow very simplified, saving me time going through the system for setup. It clearly shows how much of the different components of our contract we've used, which is helpful. I also appreciate that all the agents on the phone are very friendly and helpful, and customer service is oriented towards resolving issues quickly. I think it does a nice job getting the news out, and overall, I find the team very helpful. The reporting provided on releases is also helpful to deliver to our clients. It comes client-ready and easy to understand, which helps demonstrate the value of the service to clients.

I really like that PR Newswire is one of the largest players in the space. There's a good supportive team, which is important to me, and the interface is very easy to use, making it simple to handle. I also appreciate that the application and its features like automated reporting are effortless and pretty much automated. It's helpful to have these processes be straightforward as it allows me to focus more time elsewhere.

I tried using the micro lists and besides being a bit expensive, between $300 to $1,200 each one, I didn't find that the amplification really helped that much, so it's hard to justify the spend. It'd be great if I could be shown how these lists actually help PR get more attention and go wider. Because I have not seen it but I have also not tried it more than once or twice. So it'd be good to have data that justifies the micro lists.

Support was quick to respond whenever we needed assistance.

PR Newswire online experience was dreadful. First off, the login asks for username but you are supposed to use your email. I had a username with CISION, which was another awful login experience altogether. I had to call support just to login and though support was very helpful and quick to get to me, they asked, "are you a CISION migration." When i said yes, they said, "oh we're taking a lot of calls from those migrations, I'm sorry you're having trouble." 
Logging in was only the tip of the iceberg. The whole posting-through-their-portal experience was dreadful. 
1. You get an error trying to get to billing system and have to contact your rep. I did so and he never replied. 
2. Because of problem in #1 you don't know what your license covers. This is important because you undoubtedly will check the distributions that aren't covered in your license and there is an added cost. You must be careful here and it is very scummy of PR Newswire not to allow you to view what is covered by your license. I still don't know. 
3. After speaking with support, they said they understand the issue in #2 above and apologized and said they would set my account up so that only options that are covered by my license are available to click on. That never happened and on my next distribution, they tried to charge me extra for selecting an extra distribution that was not in my plan. Again, there is no way to view what is in your plan bc it is not in the UI and you cannot access billing portal to see what is in your plan. 
4. The UI is terribly designed, not intuitive at all. Other than the problem in 2 above, you aren't able to get a PDF preview so you don't know what they are posting unless you call them and ask for a PDF. I was told there is a view PDF option in the UI but there is not.  
5. In my case, I was told to call in to get my distribution live. This completely defeats the purpose of having an online portal for distributions. The first PR they apologized for this and I asked if they could set it up so that i didn't have to call them every time i had a distribution. They assured me I would not have to call them next time. 
6. Next distribution I had to call them to get it approved after saying I did not have to do that. 

I've been in the software business for 20+ years and have the utmost empathy for people working in tech. I also know when an app has poor requirements that aren't user needs, and is rushed and not properly tested. This is one of the worst software experiences I've ever had. Took us about 3 hours to do a distribution and through the submit-for-approval process. We also use EIN Newswire (we are an agency) and I can do this process there in about 15 minutes. 

I suspect, a legacy PR Newswire customer experience might be better than mine for we were migrated from CISION, which had its own set of submission issues. All-in-all I cannot recommend PR Newswire. I declined on my client's behalf to renew a license because of this terrible user experience where it takes hours to submit a PR. Objectively and fairly I could not bill this client for the hours spent trying to get through the bad EUX and ended up eating a lot of billing hours due to their poor app design. We are glad to have this company's bad tech behind us after the license period lapsed.

Honestly, there isn't much not to like. Sometimes the website stalls or goes offline during periods of high traffic but that usually gets resolved within a minute or two.

For our smaller public company, we didn't need the turnkey nature and didn't need the advanced features that we were paying for. We'd consider returning for a lower price with less features tailored to companes like ours that don't need all the bells and whistles.

I am utterly disappointed with Cision Newswire. This platform is anything but user-friendly - it's outdated and frustrating to navigate. As if that weren't bad enough, their customer service is absolutely atrocious. They take forever to respond to emails (if they even bother to respond at all), and when we did manage to reach someone via chat or email, they had the audacity to ask us to call them! What kind of company in this day and age operates like that?

But that's not even the worst part. Cision Newswire has zero transparency when it comes to billing. If you select certain options that require extra payment, they won't even tell you until you receive their invoice at the end of the month. That is completely unethical and downright sleazy.

And if that wasn't enough to make you want to steer clear of this platform, they also modify your URLs without your permission. We lost out on 300 backlinking opportunities because they decided to make our links "trackable" without our consent.

In conclusion, I would not recommend Cision Newswire to anyone. Their platform is terrible, their customer service is even worse, and they engage in unethical practices that only serve to line their own pockets. One star is too generous for a company like this.

Sending out a press release can get a little spendy, and the contract system is a little unforgiving, making it difficult to pivot until your contract expires.Adding a picture or going a little over word count hits you with additional charges.

PR Newswire solves our reach problems. It's difficult to know the most effective way to get our news in front of people, but we've had great success utilizing this service to increase that.

The online portal is super easy to use and the visibility into release pickup is easy to just pass onto clients. But the most amazing thing (in this day and age) is the support team - I've had to get a hold of them on a number of occasions and anyone that picks up the phone is both knowledgeable and wonderfully helpful.

Sometimes the pages take a long time to load, and it would be really great if there was a way to gauge the 'success' benchmark of releases for 'like' releases - the client always asks for this.

The knowledge that there are real people on the other end reviewing my releases and setup is very helpful. I appreciate the verification steps where you have to check in with the customer service team before issuing a release.

It is very expensive. By the time you've added your targeted lists, logos and copy you're well on your way to $1000 per release. We don't issue many releases thankfully but this certainly has a bearing on when we decide to bypass a release.

With Cision we can amplify the latest updates with our organization. We are currently working to increase our reach so being able to get to people outside of our network is very helpful.

I like the dashboard and all that it offers to view -- billing/invoicing, historical data, and evolving results of any release. I have not used a competitor product in recent years, but I don't intend to anytime soon.

There isn't anything that I particularly dislike about it. I wish I was able to subscribe to even more capabilities at this time. There are some smaller industry publications that pick up my release that do not show up on the Cision reports.

PR is so dynamic, and Cision/PRN is always ready to happily update and evolve plans to meet needs as they might change. That's not the case with other wire services.

PRN can have a sticker shock if you're new to Marketing/PR and using wire services. It is apparent through the numerous publishers that call me to make sure what I sent is what I want. Often they offer great suggestions on the spot and make the release even better, and pickups are proof of that!

Brand awareness is critical for all industries, and in mine, where being not just the best but the first can be the difference in success and failure, PRN is always there to load a wire at lightning speed! I find Cision PR Newswire very easy to use. I had never submitted a press release before and was shown the system once, and I haven't had an issue. I very much like that you're able to save your settings to make it easier for the next time. Assuming you only have one main topic/target, you really only have to set things up once and then each time you submit, it's a breeze!

The only thing I can think of that I somewhat dislike is actually something that, if it wasn't available, I think I'd be very sad! Because of the nature of the business, the calls to verify the releases can often come late at night, which took a minute to get used to. Still, again, if it weren't possible to submit a press release the night before, that would be a whole different issue, so it's really not a big deal. The alternative wouldn't be worth it!

I cannot think of a single redeeming factor from my time dealing with Cision/CNW while in my current position

Everything was complicated; everything required long-winded explanations as to why something could not be done; I had to rely on my account rep for even the most basic search VS being empowered to do things myself - because the platform is the opposite of user-friendly.  Only when discussions regarding contract termination did "new" solutions become available to me.  It was a farce!

None - we have since terminated our contact and not use a different media monitoring and social engagement tool: Meltwater.  My daily tasks are now streamlined, and my efficiency is much higher.

Not much to like other than the Account Manager being relatively responsive (until it came to billing issues).

Cision provided a quote for a specific set of services, then added additional services that were not discussed with us and NEVER agreed to, and charged our credit card 2.5x more than the original quote!

I've contacted them multiple times since this occurred on November 4, 2022 to remedy and they have provided zero solutions.
