LumenRT makes Engineering Visualisation Easy **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Warren M. | Professional Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** September 19, 2022 **What do you like best about LumenRT?** What is most helpful is that it is included as part of licences for Bentley's OpenX Designer packages like OpenRoads Designer. Having the option of producing good visuals with animations and cameras without having to go the full professional rendering route helps me during design development as well. Using the professional version also unlocks being able to present in VR. **What do you dislike about LumenRT?** It's very tailored to the northern hemisphere. This is especially prevalent when it comes to the library of vegetation and ethnicity of models of people. A bit more variety and diversity in the standard libraries would go a long way to making it more relevant to the rest of the world. One key feature that it's missing is to be able to set a camera to follow a vehicle path easily or to save a series of camera animations to copy over to another model (eg if you were to want to create two videos of two solutions to one problem and splice them together with a single camera animation), so you have to just try your best to match the camera animations. **What problems is LumenRT solving and how is that benefiting you?** We often sit with young design engineers who do not have extensive experience with CAD models - they can see the wireframe of smooth model of an intersection but not easily spot the flaws in the design model. Exporting to LumenRT makes self review of designs much easier. On the business side of things, we can really rapidly create visuals of existing projects or proposals to clients and stakeholders without having to spend excessive amounts of time building models. If a model is ready for drawing production, it's ready for visualisation in LumenRT, so there's little extra work required. The third point is for stakeholder engagements - when going to the public with a project, it's much easier to communicate the scope and details of a project with what comes out of LumenRT than showing plan 2D drawings. ### 2. The creation of long and articulated movie is by a few of clic and very powerful. **What do you dislike about LumenRT?** Sincerely the photorealism could be improved, now LumenRT 15 PRO has the RTX render, a technology preview that promises very well but for now isn't stable. I hope in the next release. **What problems is LumenRT solving and how is that benefiting you?** The model matching between a DGN file and LumenRT is perfect, all geometries, lights, materials etc are imported in LumenRT, in base of the destination of the project could be useful not lost time in MicroStation or other applications and going directly in LumenRT to create an interesting scenario. ### 3.
