"Reliable Network Monitoring That Boosts QA Confidence"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I like most about Progress WhatsUp Gold is its ability to give me good visibility into its reliability as far as monitoring the status of the network, which is a great aspect of it from my QA point of view. With its central monitoring console, I get a great opportunity to quickly verify the functionality of the primary services, servers, as well as the entire network, before starting each test cycle.

Another key strength is the alerting feature. With real-time alerts and error details, it’s very easy to spot potential network problems that may influence application activity.

I also appreciate how easy it is to set up and work with the intuitive interface. It does not require a lot of time to set up in order to begin furnishing useful results, allowing QA teams to easily integrate it into their validation processes. Overall, I think that WhatsUp Gold helps to improve the reliability of test environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

I think the functionalities for mapping the network, as well as device monitoring, could be very beneficial. This would help me validate dependencies such as APIs, databases, or backend services before I start carrying out manual or automated tests. It would not only save time during the process of analyzing issues, which could be time-consuming, but would also prevent the logging of unnecessary bugs.

I also appreciate the reporting capabilities. Performance and availability reports help immensely in confirming the system's stability under longer tests like a load test or an overnight regression test.

It becomes easier to communicate with the developer or the DevOps team as it provides real data instead of making assumptions.

In conclusion, WhatsUp Gold easily fits into the testing and QA team by reducing assumptions, improving the reliability of testing, and maintaining stability in testing environments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Instant Insight Into Network Traffic"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

The Auto-Discovery feature is best-in-class, enabling IT teams to generate a foundational network map and activate alerts within an hour of deployment. By unifying network, server, wireless, and cloud (AWS/Azure) monitoring into a single interactive view, it minimizes tool sprawl and accelerates root-cause analysis. What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Performance may degraded environments with thousands of devices or intensive polling requirement. In such cases, organisation may need to deploy multiple instances to distribute the polling load, which adds complexity increases overall management overhead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Top Visibility for Hybrid Networks at a Glance"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

Unlike tools that merely list IP addresses, WUG creates a dynamic, color-coded network map. Visualizing physical and virtual dependencies—such as VM-to-host relationships and core switch connections—speeds up troubleshooting significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

The interface works great functionally, but some of those deeper config menus still have that old-school "classic Windows" vibe. I'd really like to see a sleeker, more uniform modern web look throughout the whole admin backend. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effortless Network Monitoring with Progress WhatsUp Gold"

"User-Friendly Monitoring with Powerful Alerts, but Advanced Setup Can Be Tricky"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I appreciate most about Progress WhatsUp Gold is its user-friendly network monitoring and visualization features. The platform allows me to quickly assess the health and performance of devices, servers, and applications, which helps us address potential issues before they affect users. I find the dashboard and alerting system especially useful for monitoring the entire network in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

One drawback of Progress WhatsUp Gold is that certain advanced reporting and customisation options can be somewhat complicated to configure. Furthermore, although the alerting system is helpful, handling notifications across large networks may become overwhelming if not configured thoughtfully. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Comprehensive Real-Time Monitoring with Intuitive Dashboards"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I appreciate most about Progress WhatsUp Gold is its ability to provide real-time, comprehensive visibility across my entire IT infrastructure. The interactive network map, customizable dashboards, and unified monitoring for devices, applications, traffic, and configurations all contribute to a clear and cohesive overview. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

What I find challenging about Progress WhatsUp Gold is that its configuration process can be quite complex, and it sometimes generates false alerts. Additionally, when monitoring large environments, the software can feel slow or consume a lot of system resources. The reporting and customization features also come with a significant learning curve. Despite these drawbacks, my overall experience with the product was very positive. "Unified visibility with interactive topology mapping"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

The map goes beyond a static image—it's our go-to troubleshooting tool. Visualizing Layer 2/3 dependencies, like pinpointing which VM links to which host, keeps us from sifting through spreadsheets during port outages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

I'd love a native Linux hosting option for the server. While it monitors Linux and Apache perfectly, requiring the WUG server to run on Windows feels limiting in today's open-source landscape. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Enhances Network Visibility, Quick Troubleshooting"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

I use Progress WhatsUp Gold primarily for network monitoring and visibility. It helps me keep track of the health and performance of network devices like routers, switches, servers, and firewalls from a single dashboard. I mainly rely on it to monitor uptime, bandwidth usage, and critical metrics in real time, so potential issues are detected early before they impact users. The alerting system is especially useful, as it notifies me immediately when something goes down or crosses a defined threshold, allowing faster troubleshooting. What I like most about Progress WhatsUp Gold is how clearly it presents network information in one place. The automatic network discovery stands out, as it quickly maps devices and their dependencies without much manual effort, which saves a lot of setup time. The real-time monitoring and alerts are also a big plus—being notified immediately when a device goes down or performance thresholds are crossed makes it much easier to act before issues escalate. I also appreciate the intuitive dashboard and visual maps, which make it simple to understand the health of the network at a glance, even in complex environments. The customizable alerts and reports are another strong point, allowing me to focus only on what truly matters instead of being overwhelmed by unnecessary notifications. Overall, its ease of use combined with reliable monitoring and clear visibility is what stands out the most for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

While Progress WhatsUp Gold is a solid monitoring tool, there are a few areas that could be improved. The initial configuration and fine-tuning can feel a bit complex, especially for first-time users or smaller teams without dedicated network specialists. Some features require careful setup to avoid too many alerts, which can be time-consuming at the beginning. The user interface, although functional, could be more modern and smoother in terms of navigation, particularly when managing larger networks with many devices. Reporting is useful, but custom report creation can feel limited or less flexible compared to more advanced analytics tools. Additionally, the pricing and licensing model may feel expensive for smaller organizations, especially when adding extra modules for advanced functionality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable and comprehensive monitoring of networks and servers"
What do you like best about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

I really like the intuitive way it presents the network status, in addition to the real-time alerts that allow me to act before any failure affects the end users. The visualization of the infrastructure maps also greatly facilitates diagnosis. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?

The interface could be a bit more modern and responsive. Although it is functional, sometimes it seems a bit "dated" compared to other more recent tools. Another issue is that some integrations require more advanced technical knowledge, which can hinder adoption for teams with less experience. It would be good to have more assistants/step-by-step guides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
