For example if you monitor one Windows server and have 100 monitors for things like services, ports, drives, etc. it is still one license. The best thing we like about it is custom dashboard which displays the devices in question, we can customize the way we want to look at our devices, create personalize Dashboard for ourselves or a group or NOC. Just with a single glance, we see the current status of the devices, devices down with critical monitors, real time interface utilization, customize polling data and relevant reports and much more. **What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?** As such we are still exploring lot of features about WhatsUp Gold. However, we would love to see new features on WhatsUp Gold for which we have opened some cases in the past and were informed that the software team is working towards enhancing this tool. This is one of those products that gives good value whether you need it for very simple monitoring, or in order to leverage its advanced features. **What do you dislike about Progress WhatsUp Gold?** The web interface is a little slow, and does not have the ease of use that the console does. Reports and dashboards are better represented on the web console, however. A wishlist item for us would be for the addition of an intelligent engine, that could spot conditions outside the norm and alert to potential problems. **Recommendations to others considering Progress WhatsUp Gold:** If you need a product that keeps tabs on the health of your network devices, and is also capable of generating executive summaries of performance, change, and uptime, this will fit the bill nicely. You can keep it simple checking for drive space and reachability, or dig in with MIB files and advanced settings to get vendor-specific information. Other counters can be viewed through SNMP or WMI. **What problems is Progress WhatsUp Gold solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are able to set up monitoring for almost all of our systems for everything from a simple ping heartbeat to a full-on health profile of hardware and software.
