"I’ve used SciShield for almost 20 years and utilize almost every module available!"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

I've been using SciShield (formerly BioRAFT) for nearly 20 years, and it's a central part of how I operate a comprehensive EH&S program. Through the years I've experienced the growth of the platform, and it has helped me meet the changing needs of research environments without becoming time-consuming.

The modules I use include:

• Research Management

• Inspections

• IBC protocol review

• Respiratory protection recordkeeping

• Chemical Inventory

• Safety Data Sheets

• Radioactive materials ordering, inventory, and waste management

• Training delivery and tracking

• Equipment inventory and recordkeeping

It's easy to train new lab members on the system, and once it's part of their routine, it helps keep things organized - from inspections to training records to hazard assessments.

Customer support has always been solid, too. If something isn't working or if we need help with configuration, they respond quickly and with solutions that make sense in a research setting.

With the merger into SciSure, I'm optimistic - especially if it means even more integration and connectivity with tools we already use. SciShield has been one of the most dependable platforms I've worked with in my career. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

1. Cost

SciShield offers great value for larger institutions, but being a smaller organization with a limited budget, I had to justify the initial and recurring fees.

2. Advanced Features & Learning Curve

The essential functions are straightforward and generally intuitive. However, some more advanced features require time, training, or familiarity with laboratory compliance standards, challenging some of my new users.

3. Limited Offline Functionality

SciShield requires a stable internet connection to function optimally. This was an initial problem, but the labs and locations in areas with unreliable signals were almost eliminated as our Wi-Fi footprint increased. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for new samples, bad for new files"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

The most helpful thing about SciSure is how easy to access the sample list is and how simple and intuitive it is to add new samples or edit information on existing samples. I don't use it that often, but when I do it's always very straightforward to pick up again. I also like that everyone's changes are automatically and clearly available to everyone to see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

I do not like uploading new files to attach to an existing sample. My organization has a lot of samples, and so on SciSure we have a folder for every one of them, nested inside the folder for that entire year. When I want to add some files to our sample, first I need to move the files from my computer to the sample folder, which is easy enough. When I want to move the files from the sample folder to the sample page on SciSure, I have to click each file one at a time and then click my way back through our line up of folders for every single file I want to upload because SciSure doesn't remember what folder I was in, and doesn't let me select and upload multiple files at the same time. "Efficient Experiment Documentation and Inventory Management with eLabNext"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

I really appreciate documenting my experiments using the eLabNext platform, especially to be able to add the results behind the protocols.

The inventory helps a lot to put order in the lab and to keep the stocks ready to work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

I find the tasks giving platform not so easy to use. I would rather have a sort of chat to discuss more directly with the other members of the group. It is not very user friendly how to accept or complete a task Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Olivia Hulst of SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)

Thank you for sharing your experience with SciSure for Research (formerly eLabNext). We're glad to hear that you find our ELN helpful for documenting experiments and managing inventory.

We appreciate your feedback about the Task Add-on and will take it into consideration for future improvements.

"Overall pretty helpful"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

I like the inventory tracking UI. It's very easy to add in samples and different locations and also replicates of samples. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Haven't used the lab note book feature a lot yet but does not seem as intiuitive as the inventory management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Olivia Hulst of SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)

We're pleased to hear that eLabNext is helping to consolidate inventory management and notekeeping for your lab. We urge you to try our ELN capabilities. If you need assistance at any time, contact our Customer Success team at support@elabnext.com!

"Super intuitive and efficient – great for day-to-day lab work"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Getting started with eLabNext was incredibly easy. The interface is very intuitive, and I was able to start using it almost immediately — registering reagents, organizing projects, and uploading protocols without needing a long onboarding process.

One of my favorite features is the reagent tracking. It’s super convenient to see how much of each item is left, and I love that you can easily add low-stock items to the shopping list. It’s made managing lab inventory much more streamlined and less error-prone.

The project management section is also excellent. Everything is well structured, and the ability to create templates makes it so much easier to reuse standard project setups and commonly used protocols. It really helps keep things organized and saves a lot of time.

Overall, eLabNext has made lab organization and digital record-keeping much more efficient. I’d definitely recommend it to any lab looking to modernize and simplify their workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Suggestions for improvement:

While the platform is great overall, there are still a few areas for improvement. Some links or tabs currently don’t lead anywhere, which can make navigation a bit confusing at times. It would be helpful if these were either removed until functional or clearly labeled as “coming soon.”

Another important feature that I think is missing is an incident tracking module. Most labs need a dedicated space to report, log, and follow up on incidents (equipment failures, procedural deviations, etc.). Ideally, this would include automatically generated incident IDs, the ability to categorize incidents by type or subtype, assign them to specific users, and track their resolution status. Having this built into the system would make it even more valuable for daily lab management and compliance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Olivia Hulst of SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)

Thank you for your feedback!

The Sample List button is a leftover from the old inventory system and should be removed. We'll look into this.

While the feature you mentioned isn’t available, a similar setup can be achieved using the sample feature.

Please reach out to our Customer Success team, and they’ll be glad to help you find a suitable workaround.

"Currently the best electronic lab notebook"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

The best advantages are ease of use and the ability to organize and sort everything. The big advantage compared to other software is the inventory system with samples. It allows you to integrate it directly into experiments and protocols. The protocols are also very intuitive, with the ability to create automatic functions and calculations for the quantities to be added to make all kinds of reagents. Our entire company uses it and is satisfied with it. Finally, customer support is excellent, very fast, and has always solved my problems.Setup can be time-consuming at first, depending on the number of samples and data entries required, but once it is up to date, it is very easy to use and add new data as it becomes available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

There are few disadvantages, but the one that is annoying is the “file storage,” which is inconvenient and every time you add a file, it does not remain in the folder you are in. Adding files one by one can sometimes be tedious. This point could be improved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Evolving Platform, But Needs Better Bulk Editing Features"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

This is a sandbox-style platform that consistently introduces new features. I appreciate how it continues to evolve and expand its capabilities over time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

It would be helpful if there were more features for editing multiple samples at once. For example, being able to set the date for 50 samples in a single action would make bulk tasks much more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Olivia Hulst of SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)

We appreciate your positive feedback and understand the importance of bulk editing features.

We're happy to share that we offer a Sample Batch Update add-on free for installation.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with!

"Do yourself a favor and get SciShield"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Organization, UI/UX, training formatting, IBC protocol management, inspection module, incredible support, researchers find it easy and straightforward to use, historic record keeping, the implementation process was fantastic, and most importantly, the entire SciShield crew is tremendous - they are all wonderful human beings and truly care about their customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Honestly nothing - there are maybe a few tid-bits here and there (e.g. some customization options), but put it into perspective: SciShield needs to manage a platform for so many different groups with hundreds of different preferences, scientific portfolios, and research directions. So of course there are going to be some limits, but I promise that it doesn't matter. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Olivia Hulst of SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)

Thank you for your positive review! It's great to hear that SciSure for Health & Safety (formerly SciShield) is helping you with content management, compliance documentation, and other important aspects of your research work.

We're dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our customers.

"Satisfactory"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

eLabNext is a nice hub for all your experimental needs and the constant new features or updates is a nice touch. The access to data left by users no longer included inthe group/company is also nice.

The interface is nice to navigate and the ability to see in a tree format where is what in the inventory system is satisfying.

Having a text based/heavy experiment is nice in that one can easily link previous experiments without having to necessarily rewrite the entire thing from scratch Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

It isn't very intuitive and makes universal use for persons with different types of experiments a bit difficult.

It isn't very intuitive. It would also be nice to be able to make edits on category types to correct for typos etc in the inventory. As far as the inventory goes, when including samples that are present in the inventory, unless it is possible already, it would be nice to be able to state in an experiment how much material of said sample was used and then have that automatically be deducted from the inventory amount instead of having to manually subtract or add a specified amount in the inventory.

Deleting and editing samples within a box or compartment isn't intuitive either.

Having an excel like format for calculations would also help with logging in the journal portions as it comes to experiments would be appreciated as creating tables and or copy and pasting pre-performed calculations is not as efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A lab notebook that makes sense"
What do you like best about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

Honestly, the best thing is how it keeps everything organized. Going from pen and paper and excel sheets to something this comprehensive really was a game changer. I am able to store all of my protocols and even include things like images to help remember what the results were. Plus, it's pretty easy to learn, even for someone like me who's not super tech-savvy. Customer support has been really great as well! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about SciSure (formerly known as eLabNext and SciShield)?

If I had to nitpick, I'd say maybe there could be a quicker way to modify things like quantity for each sample, especially when adding a series of many samples which all have different weights/volumes. But honestly, this is a small thing compared to how much it's improved our workflow. Additionally, the protocol uploading should be improved as often it will be very off from the formatting of the actual protocol. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
