EHS Insight is a cloud-based Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management platform built for mid-market and enterprise organizations in high-risk industries including oil and gas, construction, chemicals, transportation and logistics, and manufacturing. **What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

What I like best about EHS Insight is that it provides a centralized platform for tracking safety incidents, investigations, and compliance requirements. It helps keep information organized and allows for better visibility into safety data and trends. I also appreciate the ability to customize fields and reporting, which allows the system to be tailored to our organization’s specific processes and operational needs. 

One of the things I appreciate most about EHS Insight is the support provided by their ticket team. They are very responsive and helpful when assisting with backend administrative questions or system configuration issues. Their team is willing to walk through solutions step by step, which makes it much easier to resolve issues and better understand how to manage the system effectively.

I really enjoy using the program and would highly recommend it to other customers. I also appreciate that they have a suggestions board where users can submit ideas — several of the suggestions I have posted have actually been implemented. I value that they listen to user feedback and are willing to integrate ideas into the system.

If I were to move to another role that required a safety management system, I would definitely choose EHS Insight. I even see potential in working for EHS Insight itself, as I believe the system has a lot of growth potential and continues to evolve in ways that benefit users.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

One challenge with EHS Insight is that certain areas of the system can take some time to load, which can slow down workflows when navigating between records or reports. Additionally, while the platform offers customization in several areas, there are some limitations with workflow customization. It would also be helpful to have more control over automated email notifications. Currently, the system generates a large number of emails, so having greater flexibility to customize email flows and notifications would improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary messaging. 

One area for improvement would be expanding support options, such as offering phone or video call assistance when working through backend administrative issues. While the ticket support team is helpful and responsive, having the ability to communicate in real time can make it easier to walk through more complex configurations or troubleshooting steps and resolve issues more efficiently. Although one option for phone and video support plan is currently available, it is fairly limited and can be costly. Offering more flexible support plans or service tiers with broader access to these options could better meet the needs of different organizations.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EHS Insight helps centralize our safety, incident, and compliance data in one system, which improves organization, visibility, and reporting. Having a single platform allows us to more efficiently track incidents, investigations, corrective actions, and safety metrics while also maintaining documentation for compliance and customer reporting requirements.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

The platform provides a versatile and user-friendly solution that supports multiple departments, including Quality Assurance, Sustainability, EHS, and Operations, in managing compliance and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs). By centralizing compliance tasks, audits, and workers’ compensation claims, the system enhances visibility across operational functions. This integrated approach enables operational leadership to better project financial forecasts, monitor performance trends, and drive measurable year-over-year improvements.

Operational leaders use the system daily for functions such as SOP creation, injury reporting, and other key operational activities across the platform. The knowledge base resources support effective training for both associates and leadership, offering a user-friendly experience that allows for easy implementation. Additionally, the integration with Workday was completed smoothly, allowing for efficient alignment with existing systems and workflows.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

There are no significant concerns with the platform. If any barriers arise, EHS Insights provides an effective ticketing system that ensures timely support and resolution. One potential area for improvement would be to allow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) creation and review tasks to be assigned directly to individual users rather than by role. This enhancement could provide greater flexibility and accountability during the SOP development and review process.

There is no current issue that is being solved. When issues do arise, the ticketing process is more than affective as the assigned account managers and techs address the issue within 24 hours, if not sooner.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

It is a very powerful tool that has taken our EHS program from paper and pencil to digital. The user interface is easy to use, setup is simple and guided, and reporting functions intuitive. I love that EHS Insight dashboard can show a graph and by clicking on a bar or pie chart piece, dive into the details for better analysis. We have even gone a step further outside of EHS Insight and run our customer service incidents through the program.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

I would like to see some of the regulatory record keeping modules improved for hourly or daily environmental readings we have to document. Other than that, our company continues to adapt more and more of our processes into EHS Insight.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EHS Insight has consolidated dozens of Excel sheets, binders, file cabinets, and procedure books into one central location that is easily accessible anywhere. It allows me, as a manger, to have greater access to records and perform data analysis to help guide improvements.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

I love that EHS Insight allows immediate access to all SDS's for all employees and lets anyone visiting a site report safety observations without having to sign in or have an account. The system is extremely intuitive to use regardless of the level of experience you have with it. The layout of the dashboard is great, and the navigation panel stays on top, so you don't get lost in the system. It's simple to set up because it was led by Lisa Serface, who was key in making the integration and implementation successful. I highly recommend EHS Insight, and I've already told several peers to look into it.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

It's hard sometimes to create sparklines or pull certain specific data into the dashboard.

EHS Insight allows immediate access to all SDSs and lets anyone report safety observations without signing in. It handles incident reporting, SDS management, employee training, and document storage.

I like EHS Insight because it keeps all my Safety Management tasks in one spot, making it easily accessible across multiple devices no matter where I am. I particularly like the Dashboard, which allows me to track all my KPI's and manipulate the data as needed.

Training Management could be improved by creating a way to exempt individuals from training when selecting a business hierarchy. Also, the initial setup was a pain, with weekly meetings trying to explain how we needed it set up. It would have been beneficial to sit down with someone for a week and just knock it all out at once.

I use EHS Insight to record and manage workplace safety information, and I like that it centralizes safety data and makes tracking incidents, audits, and corrective actions simple and organized. Incident tracking is particularly efficient because I can log events quickly and follow up, ensuring issues don’t get missed. Reporting and following up on incidents is straightforward. I find the risk assessment and audit features particularly useful as they help me identify potential hazards before they cause problems, ensuring that safety checks are thorough.

The mobile app can be hard to use as it can be slow and some menus are hard to navigate. Reports could be more flexible, and linking actions to multiple incidents is limited.

Ease of use and access, platform is easy to use even for the most basic users.  I got zero training on EHS Insight before I started using it as an administrator and it wasn't hard to learn what so ever to do what I needed it to do for my company.

Can't really complain.  Maybe more training modules that better fit my company. But I do like the ones we do use on there.

Tracking on OSHA training, reports that automatically go out help remind people to do their overdue trainings (because we all forget), tracking on CAPAs to document that we did something about an event.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

I find EHS Insight's reporting robust, and I love the ability to customize so many of the forms, views, and reports, allowing us to really make it our own. As a stevedoring company, we have unique needs for the types of information we need to collect, and being able to capture these in our incident and quality event forms is very helpful. The initial setup was very easy, and the support people who helped us were fantastic.

The only thing I have heard that perhaps could be made more robust is the API connections available.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

I like the customization, prompt customer service and self help tools.  The ability to add and remove modules on a subscription basis is great. EHS is always making improvements to the system as well. Customer service is prompt and they accept improvement recommendations from the community which is great. A couple of my ideas have been accepted and implemented which is great. They also help with workarounds to address things I need to be done in the system.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

EHS Insight nags you to close our  tickets even when it's clear you are on vacation(away message). If they don't hear from you, they close i even if it's not done. A little less pressure when I am very busy as it is would be nice. It must be part of their KPIs, but other than that customer service is still excellent.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Training and incident database, Incident management, hazard ID reporting, as well as document control.

Very user friendly and easy to use for our entire team. Forms are easy to customize and the reporting power is amazing.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

It would be nice to have the ability to customize the forms a little more to be specific for our business, but we've found ways to make what can't be changed work.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensures timely submission of all of our health, safety, and environmental forms such as hazard assessments, incident reporting and investigation, work observations, safety meetings, etc. It's nice to have notifications sent out automatically when we want on specific forms.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

What I like most about EHS Insight is how much you can make it your own. We’ve been able to customize forms, workflows, and dashboards so they actually fit the way we work instead of trying to force our process into a one-size-fits-all system. It’s also great having everything—incidents, inspections, audits, training—in one place. The mobile app is a big win too; our team can log issues or complete forms right in the field and have access in offline modes, which keeps everything up to date. They also have had the fastest customer support in each instance where i had questions or issues. We are able to weave the system into our daily processes across different locations and functions.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

The only tricky part has been building custom reports. The system can definitely do it, but it takes a lot of trial and error to get them just right or you have an extra cost to have their team do this. Having more templates or step-by-step options would make it way easier.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EHS Insight has been a huge help for our Behavior-Based Safety program and managing our long list of checklists. It keeps everything organized in one place, so we can track observations, follow up on actions, and easily see trends over time. The customization makes it easy to set up forms exactly how we need them, and the mobile app means our team can complete checklists and BBS observations right in the field. This has made our program more consistent, faster to update, and easier to manage overall.

EHS Insight enabled our organization to bring all EHS application under one platform and provides access to all employees while allowing the safety team to manage the process and data.  The EHS Insight is adaptable and configurable to our specific needs without extra fees or significal IT support. Their customer support is always available and willing to colaborate and help.  The one stop shop for all things EHS in our company is saving us time, money, resources and improving our safey culture. It is requesntly used by all company employees.

While very intuitive and easy to use for the end user as well as integrate into operations, it sometimes take time to configure the application for our individual and sometimes very specific needs.

It is the most user-friendly system ever and makes life easy for EHS professionals. It's really easy for our techs to use.  The pre-built reports are extremely helpful for managers.  The mobile version is great too. I also love the help section.  It's a great tool to help me learn on my own time.

There's always room for improvement, but overall the system is great.  Perhaps moving faster on implementing suggestions? I do appreciate the voting feature.  I use that from time to time as others have already suggested a feature I want.  Seeing that is great.

Management across a vast geography, with multiple time zones, staff from multiple companies, staff from multiple levels (techs through Leadership), etc.  It's a tool that links us in a way that works.

There are several aspects I like the most.  One is the mobile app, which allows our supervisors and managers to record incidents on the plant floor.  Another is that all of the data is accessable in one location.

Most helpful is using EHS Insight as our integrated management system.  The modules allow excellent visibility and accountability to support critical elements in a management system program.

One of the challenging things in using EHS Insight is understanding what steps need to be completed in some of the workflows.  Sometimes, the completion of workflow steps within some modules (i.e., Incident Event, CAPA) will overlap, which could be a bit confusing to a new user.

EHS Insight is helping our company establish one focal point to support our overall QHSE management system.  Users do not have to rely on multiple locations to support one activity.  The interconnectivity of the EHS modules allows users full traceability of management system activities.

The system is fairly intuitive and reasonably easy to setup on your own with the provided resources. Everything loads quickly and the mobile app never seems to have any problems.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

There were some pretty critical settings at the beginning of the setup which were easy to get wrong (and we did). Now those setup flaws are permanent features in the system. I think they should have had someone spent the 2-3 hours to sit down with us and made sure we knew what we were committing to; it just seems too critical.  

It's also important to note that specific modules are highly customizable and others inexplicably lack it. Some modules including Safety Drill feel like they are half completed projects (for example, you cannot track and run reports on who attended or missed drills).

They could also have provided better generic resources that could be sent out to company members to show them how to do something. YouTube or Knowledge Base support material to walk people through, say, filing an incident report for an injury. It would have saved me tens of hours of making my materials if they had this ready to go.

It provided us with an easy-to-use cloud platform for incident reporting, completing investigations, tracking CAPAs, and now for monthly facility inspections. Incident reporting has increased due to ease of access with account holders.

EHS Insight has been an excellent platform for tracking the company's EHS program requirements.

There are some features that could be refined like adding trainings to a group, you have to select the group, then add one training, but if I'm conducting a new hire training to 4 individuals, that means that I have to select the 4 individuals, then add one training, select the 4 individuals, then add another training and so on. It would save a great deal of time to select the 4 employees, then select all of the trainings that were conducted in that session and be done.

EHS Insight provides a way to create and maintain a training program for your employees without breaking the bank.

My favorite thing about EHS is the dashboard and having the ability to generate reports to understand better how our processes are performing. I also like the quality and responsiveness of the  EHS support team. They can resolve issues and answer questions about the system quickly.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

Our organization assigns Skill and Training Requirements primarily through Training Groups. If you have multiple training or skill requirements associated with a specific Training Group, EHS cannot provide the status of assignments particular to that training group, nor does it have the ability to filter across multiple training groups. Not having this drill-down level is problematic as our Managers and Supervisors cannot obtain a complete snapshot of training and skills requirements by Training Group assignments. 

As far as notifications of training and skill assignements, there are none.  It would be great if email notifications went out and appeared as Tasks.

**Recommendations to others considering EHS Insight:**

I recommend rolling out one module at a time. 

I recommend establishing a budget to sustain the system after initial implementation to include: module administrators, system trainers, internal helpdesk support for minor issues, procedural updates, and process improvement projects.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EHS has helped us understand the bigger picture. It seems like there is better synergy between the Quality and Safety Teams as our processes flow seamlessly and in parallel with one another. 

Previously our training records were scattered across multiple folders on shared drives. The organization could not clearly understand what training was being performed and the status. 

Skills helped us achieve compliance with the competence requirements of ISO 9001:2015.

Being able to accomplish and organize multiple EHS related items on one platform. Between incident events, permit compliance, regulatory compliance, inspections, and CAPAs, and they can all be linked.

The training platform could use some work. The most difficult part is setting training to "expire". Rather than setting a future date that a training expires on, you can only set how long an individual training is valid. The other bug involves deleting a CAPA from an incident event, but the CAPA still remains.

Tracking incidents and having trackable data behind them is very beneficial. We used to only do paper reports, and now we can easily run reports in EHS Insight to see how often things are happening and who is involved. We are also able to easily upload pictures and communication to the report.

EHS Insight is an excellent system to maintain a Health and Safety Management System.  All the modules combine to make it more economical for a company to maintain a H&S Management System.

The downside is that as a Quality and Health and Safety Manager, the power to make EHS Insight liked by the company's employees is not 100% in my hand. 50% lies in the provider's hand. Training of crucial user/administrator of the system was not enough. The system was not correctly implemented and hence leaving room for employees to criticize and eventually resist it. When a crucial user with admin role leaves the company, the provider should train the next administrator. Another missing component is a regular meeting with the administrator, at least yearly, to talk about the problems or performance of the system in our context.

It helps to control documented processes and save on hard copy documentation for each location. Employees can access documents without having a hard copy in their hands. The control on the version of these documents is centralized and saves the company from allocating more resources to this activity for each location.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

EHS Insight covers all of our needs for recording training, protocols, audits, etc. The monthly webinars are informative.
 Also, the support team is very quick to respond to any questions or concerns.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

The Knowledge Base articles could be a little more robust. A couple of things are not intuitive, such as how the HIRA module works.

**Recommendations to others considering EHS Insight:**

Take the time to look through all of the modules offered. There is a wealth of options to choose from.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are much better able to track the training our people are receiving as well as keeping up to date on the progress of tasks that are required of our terminals. Having one place to store all of our documents for all of our terminals is also a great plus.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

EHS Insight is user-friendly both from an end-user and admin views. It is easy to use and visually appealing at the same time. It has a wide variety of modules that apply to several parts of our business which makes it a great one-stop-shop for our employees. EHS Insight is also incredibly configurable and allows us to make it "ours" in a lot of ways which has helped improve user adoption. 

StarTex Software, the company behind EHS Insight, is friendly to work with and is happy to consult with their customers which provides a great experience. They also release updates every few weeks which contain new features and enhancements to constantly improve the product.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

There are a few things about EHS Insight from an admin-view that would help make it easier to use; mainly relating to data-relations and integrity. There are a few "gotchas" that you have to learn when adding your own customization that aren't as obvious but once figured out, aren't the end of the world.

**Recommendations to others considering EHS Insight:**

As with anything, you get out of it what you put in. EHS Insight is easy to use but you have to be willing to spend time evaluating your organization's data and processes. The more you understand about what you need and the more you have your data cleaned up, the faster the implementation is. Expect to put in the work but you will be very happy you did.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use EHS Insight across all 5 of our business lines and within just about every functional department. It has helped make sharing and protecting information incredibly easy and our users love that they can access everything from their phones. It makes reporting on information exponentially faster and helps reduce paper waste and prevent "pencil whipping" for key tasks. EHS has made our users more accountable and has provided management with visibility into data without waiting hours to create custom work. 

The more we've used it and put into it, the more our users expect to find/do within it; it is normal for someone to ask "can we put that in EHS?" or "have you checked EHS?" It has become part of our culture.

I wish I could remove or hide some of factory fields that we do not use.

**What do you like best about EHS Insight?**

The user interface seems to be easy for most to understand and use which is beneficial for a workforce which is not typically tech savvy in my organization.  The ability to differentiate employees access levels and notifications is key to keeping the right people aware.  An example is an incident is reported to the manager of a particular location rather than to all managers at all locations.  The training module has been beneficial as well, I can create my own training requirements, set them to be one time or annual refreshers and push the information out to specific locations or specific employee types.  I can also create quizzes to verify the key information is understood from the electronic training information.  The knowledge base is a wonderful tool available to find suggestions and possibly discover another way to address an issue.  The ability to submit product suggestions is also awesome.  I like the ability to see in an instant the dashboard of our current company statistics such as TRIR, Near Misses, Incidents, etc.  Additionally, we are able to see training status across the company as well as the current audit & inspection status for each month.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

There are certain reporting capabilities missing in the program.  Specifically the ability to report on work observations by person completing the observation.  Integration is a challenge that we are still trying to figure out so it can communicate with our other systems.  The issue is the size of our company and not having a true IT department to work on it.  This requires the administrators to be comfortable with software and user settings to accomplish tasks.  One challenge with the training section is the inability to create a quiz with fill in the blank section (at least I haven't figured it out yet).  One challenge with the product suggestion section is EHS Insights backlog is significant and though I know they are improving the product all the time; the changes we might need are not being addressed.  We do understand that the request might be significant code changes which is just not feasible for EHS to implement since the request comes from a minority of the organizations using the product.  A recommendation is to review the suggested improvements often and like those that make since for your own organization as well.  This gives weight to the backlog process and could help to get something addressed sooner.  Hazard identification and risk assessment seem to be a slightly similar modules though the differentiation is slight and depending on how your company currently considers each, you may need to adjust processes to fit the limitations of the program.  This is also true of the JSA module which we elected to not implement.  The challenge for our organization is the inability to have workers other than our internal workers (i.e. clients we work for) to sign our JSA.

**Recommendations to others considering EHS Insight:**

There are very expensive solutions out there which will cost your company a significant amount of many and get you every bell and whistle and there are lesser solutions which will not get you what you really need.  Our choice was to go with a solution which could get us close to what we needed with minimal issues and didn't cost us a ton of money in the process.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

EHS Insight has automated our safety reporting and tracking information making it easier to report on trends and actually have a visual of those trends rather than a manual process to do the same.  We have also implemented inspection forms to give employees the ability to complete daily inspections of certain equipment via EHS and their company issued tablet.

The ease of reporting through the app is very nice. The reports tool out of the box has good reports and hopefully can be configured to the other reports that we need.

**What do you dislike about EHS Insight?**

It is still a little difficult to get full Incident reports with all business units and then by each unit, that is without going to several out of the box reports.

**What problems is EHS Insight solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In field CAPAs and full team involvement in inspections and audits is helping see real time hazard controls and improved communications amongst our teams.

Jobsite EHS inspections & training but have expanded into QA/QC reviews which have given proof for these inspections to show the GC or owner.
