I've used many donor CRM platforms, but Donately's intuitive integration with our website makes it so easy to receive payments and have them recorded in a searchable database. I recently started as the new general manager for a not-for-profit so having a donor management system that was easy to understand was so helpful during my first few months. I'm still learning more about the platform, but I think it's a bit challenging to treat it as a full 360 donor/audience management platform. The database is built on actual transactions, but we receive donations through a few different methods. Figuring out how to record these into the platform is something I was able to learn on my own. What I like most is how practical and approachable it is. It’s easy to use, doesn’t require a lot of onboarding, and has grown with our organization without pushing us into higher costs too quickly. The fee structure is also a huge plus. We’re able to keep more of each donation going directly toward our mission, which really matters from a donor trust and stewardship perspective. As we’ve grown, there are a few areas where more advanced reporting or customization would be helpful. It’s not a major issue and hasn’t stopped us from using the platform effectively, but it’s something you start to notice once your fundraising and donor management become more complex. We were looking for a donation platform for our small nonprofit that would be affordable but have more than the basic features. Donately has fit the bill for ten years. We use it for our regular donation site as well as special campaigns with customizable forms. We sync with Klaviyo for email thank you flows to new and returning donors - sometimes this mysteriously glitches, so we have to keep an eye on it, but that seems to be on the Klaviyo end. For fundraising events, we have to use another platform to sell tickets - that is the only improvement I would suggest. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Overall, the platform is pretty straightforward to use. In the free version, there are limitations on the formatting options. However, for the purposes of our campaigns, they are adequate and look professional and clean. There are also several modifications you can make as to what is visible versus not visible on the form. The different options on the dashboard for forms, campaigns, or fundraisers can be a bit confusing to navigate and is not intuitive as to which one is being used or should be being used. There was also a bit of a learning curve to make the page look nice (e.g. formatting graphics on canva before uploading), however was easy to understand after a few trial and errors. Donately has helped us do a better job receiving donations from international donors. Prior to Donately, this was a challenge since international donors often have complicated billing addresses, which can pose a problem for AVS verification.
