## Customer.io Reviews
 ### 1. Easy Communication Flow Visualization and Segmentation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

It gives easy options for visualizing communication flows and segmentation

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Many of the systems feel counterintuitive, like how a profile can enter a campaign, or how relationships work when building segments. Excluding people from segments is more difficult than including them. The way data integration syncs are set up feels backwards to what I would think.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building and automating workflows, saving time, mental energy, and effort.

 ### 2. User-friendly Interface with Experimental Basis

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Franco P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Sure, the best part is the ease of the user interface. I also love that it's based on experiments, which makes it really easy to measure what works best and move towards that. What I also find very good is the AI agent, which also works well.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Perhaps Customer.io can be more integrated into guides and sanity checks. Also, it seems that more templates and proposals for similar campaigns are needed.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for email campaigns and one-off emails. The biggest advantage is the ease of the user interface and the experimental basis, allowing me to easily measure what works best.

 ### 3. Flexible Marketing Tool with Some Lag Issues

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric Z. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like Customer.io's clean UI and AI agent. The AI agent allows me to debug things easily and handle a lot of repetitive manual work without making mistakes. I also enjoy the flexibility to run campaigns the way I want to.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The AI agent and the entire system lag a lot. The UI/UX can be misleading sometimes, like how API broadcasts can't be scheduled and have to be manually triggered if not done through an API itself.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for lifecycle management, setting up campaigns, notifications, and running experiments. The AI agent helps debug easily and handle repetitive manual tasks without mistakes, offering flexibility in campaigns.

 ### 4. Brilliant experience with CustomerIO

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lucas B. | Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The ability to look into analytics of newsletters and email campaigns to asses success and engagement, and also to be able to automate campaigns more.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

No major flaws, but I’d like to be able to add interactions to campaigns, IE polls, quizzes and questions - maybe you can already do this but I don’t know how!

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automates email campaigns, and allows me to have brand consistency across all communications

 ### 5. Clean, Intuitive Design That Makes Complex Workflows Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Muzammil M. | Founder – Muzammil Graphic | Interior and Graphic Designer | Transforming Spaces and Brands Visually , Graphic Design, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

What I like best about Customer.io is its clean, intuitive design. The interface is well-structured, visually clear, and makes complex workflows easy to understand. The thoughtful use of spacing, hierarchy, and real-time previews helps users focus on building journeys and messages without feeling overwhelmed.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The interface can feel overwhelming at times, especially for new users, and some advanced workflow and segmentation features require a learning curve to fully understand and use efficiently.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io addresses the challenge of delivering timely, personalized communication at scale by using user behavior and data to trigger messages automatically. When I used it briefly a few months ago, it helped me understand how customer journeys, segmentation, and event based messaging can replace manual follow ups. The platform makes it easier to target the right users with the right message at the right time, which can improve engagement and retention. Even with limited hands on usage, Customer.io clearly demonstrated how structured automation and data-driven communication can streamline workflows and support more meaningful customer interactions.

 ### 6. Efficient Automated Setup, but Platform Integration Takes Work

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The automated setup helps reduce mistakes and improves efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I’m currently working on integrating it into our platform. So i am having trouble following the documentation.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking user behaviour across your products is efficient and can really help with making data-driven decisions. The follow-up messages are very creative, and I also like that it can flag inactive users, which is great.

 ### 7. Versatile Features, Straightforward Setup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ari S.

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I appreciate Customer.io's very rich feature set. There's just a lot of things you can do, like emailing users, potential users, managing newsletters, and implementing system messages. I think the segmenting features have potential to increase the power of my messaging. Additionally, the setup was pretty straightforward, and it's integrated with PostgreSQL, allowing us to flow in our website data. I've already recommended Customer.io to another company where I'm a fractional employee.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The segmenting is hard to understand. It might be because I'm unfamiliar with this type of segmenting, but it is difficult to understand how to assign traits to people in my database so that I could segment them.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to automate onboarding and retention, ensuring our users stay engaged. Its rich feature set allows me to send newsletters and system messages, and explore advanced segmenting to enhance messaging power.

 ### 8. Detailed Contact Profile Reporting That Effectively Powers Targeted Multichannel Campaigns

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelsey G. | Director of Account Management, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

It provides detailed reporting on customer profiles and multichannel campaigns which helps create more targeted outreach campaigns to engage with customers which helps convert them more easily.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

No features in this platform that have disappointed me or presented any problems because it has been great for marketing automation.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps streamline customer engagement and makes it easier to manage campaigns and all communications in one platform which makes it easy to convert website visitors into identifiable prospects.

 ### 9. Customer.io as an ESP

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** elissa w. | Marketing Technology Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

CIO makes syncing Salesforce data into your customer.io instance straightforward. I appreciated being able to use advanced filtering during the sync process, which allowed us to exclude data we didn't want to import into customer.io. This was especially helpful for keeping us within our contact limit.
When we needed assistance with setting up this filtering, we contacted customer support and were very pleased with both the promptness of their response and the effectiveness of their solutions.
While we primarily use customer.io for its email sending and reporting features, I can also see the value in leveraging it to integrate data from multiple sources.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

We are currently using Customer.io as our email sending platform for a business that manages multiple customer types within the same workspace. Each audience requires its own subscription center; however, Customer.io only supports one subscription center per workspace, so we’ve had to build an external solution to handle that need.

Another limitation we encountered was the lack of reply-based message management (RMM). Unlike our previous ESPs, Customer.io does not automatically unsubscribe contacts who reply with “STOP” or “Unsubscribe.” We had to develop a custom workaround for this as well.

When migrating our suppression list from our previous ESP, we were informed by support that we could not upload it as a true suppression list. Instead, we had to import it as a list of contacts marked as Unsubscribed. This approach caused those contacts—who should not be emailed—to count toward our total contact volume. It was also confusing to see conflicting information between the support team and the online documentation, which suggested that suppression lists could be imported by contacting support. Ultimately, we imported the list as unsubscribed contacts and repeated the process for each workspace.

Additionally, the help documentation can be sparse, particularly when troubleshooting specific issues. The AI chatbot doesn’t always provide accurate or complete guidance and could benefit from further development. On a positive note, when we’ve reached out directly, the Customer.io support team has been responsive and helpful.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are now able to combine Salesforce CRM data with many other data sources. In the past, we had a hard time reconciling contacts into unified profiles.

 ### 10. Exceptional Marketing Automation with Seamless Personalization

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felice C. | Customer Service Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io has been an awesome marketing tool and it has always served us right. From customization to ease of using and understanding Customer.io, everything is right about the tool.
It allows personalization marketing and this increases the success rate of our marketing efforts. In addition, it comes with smooth SMS Marketing features and also handles mobile marketing really well.
With Customer.io, we get to enjoy best marketing automation capabilities and I must admit all of its features works perfectly.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

For smooth marketing, Customer.io has been awesome and no complaints whatsoever.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io is an amazing marketing solution for our business that makes SMS marketing, mobile marketing and marketing automation easy. In addition, it helps us leverage on customer data to push personalized marketing.

 ### 11. Clear Customer Journeys and Drop-Off Funnels Made Easy

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Easy to see customer journeys, dropoff funnels

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Hard to follow workflows when more complicated journeys. E.g. what are the different communications being sent out - hard to see at a glance

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Understanding customer journeys - helps me understand what we are telling customers at what point, and what rules we have implemented to determine journey paths

 ### 12. Empowers Targeted Marketing with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vicky L. | Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like the A/B test feature and being able to connect custom product data to trigger different events. It helps me test different CTAs and see what drives the biggest conversion. The initial setup was pretty easy.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The autosaving can be better and the email builder has pretty specific requirements on spacing and fonts. It should save every time I edit, and the email builder would be cool if I could prompt it and it autoadjusts for me.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to market to existing users and for product event features not available in Mailchimp.

 ### 13. Powerful Automation, but Complicated UI

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Elena A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that Customer.io has very powerful automation options and allows creating many types of content based on the user's interaction with the tool.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The UX/UI of content writing is complicated. I have tried many other tools (Mailchimp, Brevo) and the design when creating content is hardly intuitive. Simplify options, basically, and perhaps review the naming of the sections. The initial setup was laborious. It was not easy.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for onboarding campaigns and sending newsletters. It helps reach many users and send personalized messages according to their needs.

 ### 14. Easy to Get Started and Scales Smoothly as You Grow

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The ease of use to get started and and the scalability of the tool are impressive. It is very straightforward to integrate your data and get started or slowly improve your capabilities as you get more comfortable.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The single grievance I have with the tool is around how date operators work. There is quite a bit of "over-engineering" required to target customers whether it be in a segment or in a campaign to date/time-based activities

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It solves the behavioural communications with your customers spectacularly. Every communication turns into a real-time conversations with your customers that greatly improves customer experience

 ### 15. Simple and Effective for Automated Communication

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that Customer.io makes it easy to send the right message at the right time. The automation based on user actions saves a lot of manual work and helps keep communication personal and relevant.x`

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The setup can feel a bit complex at first, especially when building detailed workflows. Once you get used to it, though, it becomes much smoother.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps automate our emails and messages so we don’t have to send them manually. It keeps our communication consistent, saves time, and makes it easier to send personalized messages based on what customers do, like sign-ups or purchases.

 ### 16. Dishonest renewal policy, I no longer trust them.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael Y. | CMO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Nothing really. It does what it does and is nothing special.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Dishonest and sneaky renewal policy.

Designed to cheat customers instead of helping them.

They tried to lock us into another full year.
Based on a “deadline” that was never in our signed contract.
It was slipped into a random email after we signed.

We gave notice a month ahead that we wanted to move to monthly.
They still said “too late” because one day passed.
That day was Christmas Eve.

This felt dishonest.
No flexibility. No good-faith resolution.

There are plenty of other solutions out there.

Avoid this dishonest platform.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

 ### 17. Easy Setup and Effective Engagement with Customer.io

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Halee S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like how easy Customer.io is to use. It's easy to get in, design, write, and craft compelling messaging. It's also simple to build segments to get the right messages to the right people. I appreciate the clear directions and helpful documentation that guide me through everything step by step. The way Customer.io syncs with our dashboard and Mixpanel is great as well.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

n/a

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io makes it easy to write mass communications and behavior-based campaigns. It drives engagement using events we track, and it's easy to craft messages and build segments for targeted communication.

 ### 18. Customer.io Streamlined Our KYC Workflows

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Benedict A. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

At Phundit, customer io is able to help us build workflows for users to follow to complete their KYC, which has been one of the biggest issues we have had as a company.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I think the google big query integration needs some work. And the data ingestion from big query is too limiting

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As mentioned. We had alot of drop offs when users attempt to complete their KYCs and face issues. How we can track and nudge them back and even collect feedback from them to improve the app flows

 ### 19. Complex Yet Limiting for Email Marketing

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Once I got the hang of Customer.io, the design process wasn't too tedious even though it's not the most user-friendly. I handle design and content, and I've managed to work within its limitations.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It's not the most user-friendly, and the design process can be limiting. We've had issues with Customer.io emails hurting our email reputation, which put us in a terrible spot. The solutions provided were difficult and took months to implement. It's an overly complex tool at times. The initial setup was very difficult due to the large database of customer emails we had to import.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps me send messages to large groups, but issues with email reputation required complex workarounds. Design can be limiting, and setup was tough with a large database. I persist with Customer.io to avoid switching headaches.

**Official Response from Rachel Welt:**

> Thank you for your review and feedback. I have escalated your concerns to our Director of Technical Support. If you email support@customer.io and reference your G2 review, she would be happy to discuss your experience further so we can address your concerns directly.

 ### 20. Stays Up to Date with the Latest Features and Trends

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

They’re always trying to stay up to date with the latest features and trends.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Some features feel powerful but not always intuitive, which can make certain setups more time‑consuming than expected. Debugging and understanding why something behaves a certain way (especially around segmentation, journeys, or data syncing) can require extra effort and context.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io solves the challenge of turning user data into targeted, automated communication. It enables us to build behaviour‑based journeys, personalise messages, and react to user actions in real time. This benefits us by making our lifecycle communication more relevant, scalable, and performance‑driven.

 ### 21. Empowers Targeted Communication and Effortless Design

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like Customer.io because it allows us to segment and target users easily, ensuring relevant communications are sent out. I appreciate that they are continually improving the product, especially with their investment in the Design Studio. I love the ability to make custom templates and the no-code builder, which makes it easy for all our designers to jump in and contribute when needed. The Design Studio also allows us to curate brand-relevant designs and update them easily. Additionally, the initial setup was easy for me, likely due to my prior Mailchimp experience.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

When creating campaigns or broadcasts, segments are not visible, and I have to go to the segment tab and check again. It would be helpful to have the ability to preview the segment details in the campaign or newsletter itself, as a quick preview to do a cross-check, especially in the review stage.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to segment and target users easily for relevant communications. The Design Studio allows us to make custom templates and a no-code builder makes it easy for designers to contribute, letting us curate and update brand-relevant designs effortlessly.

 ### 22. Powerful and Flexible Platform with some minor shortcomings

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris C. | Marketing Automation & Digital Experience Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

This platform is very powerful and has robust features allowing us to have a lot of options in how we want to build campaigns, workflows, and segments. For the majority of projects, as long as we can think of setting something up, customer.io allows us to do so.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Often times it can get laggy and slow, especially for larger campaigns. Every few weeks I encounter issues with 1-2 hours where the entire platform is slow in loading screens which can be frustrating.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automating communication reminders for our members is the main problem it's solving. This allows us to scale more efficiently and not rely on manual outreach, saving time for our team. It also helps us analyze data and performance of various campaigns and marketing sources which allow us to determine what's working, not working, and how to optimize our efforts moving forward.

 ### 23. They said it was a "wrinkle" and then refused to help us on a call.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I appreciate the idea of an agentic interface even though my experience with this company was TERRIBLE.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Hard to understand UI.
Terrible, I mean bottom of the barrel laughing stock level support.
Confirmed there was a "wrinkle" and then put in writing that no one would be getting on a call with us to help us.
A lot to hate here.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Solving is a generous word. They're trying to solve lifecycle marketing, competing with the Klaviyos and the Active Campaigns of the world. Is it benefiting us? Nope. Did it solve any problems? No it created them for us personally.

 ### 24. Seamless Campaign Management Enhancer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Luis C. | Data Analyst, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like most the interface of Customer.io and the fact that I can create specific different campaigns and then split them, and see their performance right away, which I think is pretty good value. I also find that the setup process was fairly easy, especially with the help from the right people. The Customer.io team has been very helpful to us with any issues that arise. Additionally, I appreciate how Customer.io integrates well with other tools, like Snowflake, allowing us to grab data seamlessly.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

So far I haven't encountered a characteristic i didn't like.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to send specific remarketing emails and campaigns, configuring parameters to reach the right customers and avoid high unsubscribe rates. It helps communicate successfully with trustworthy delivery and provides useful metrics.

 ### 25. Customer.io Brings Order and Clarity to Automated Email Journeys

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 01, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io has really helped us bring more order to our automated email sendouts and newsletters. I especially like how easy it is to view the journeys and individual profiles, which makes it simpler to understand what’s going on and spot issues or patterns in our email strategy.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The UI felt a bit complex to understand at first. It seemed like there were just a few too many features for my taste.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s helping us focus more on quality rather than quantity in our email strategy. For example, understanding the right number of emails to send, and the right timing for sending them, has been useful. Also, being able to automatically remove people from lists, even when they haven’t asked for, has helped us improve deliverability.

 ### 26. User-Friendly Yet Slightly Confusing Scheduling

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Igor L.

**Reviewed Date:** February 05, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that Customer.io is very easy to use, and the import function is very straightforward. Customer.io adjusts my CSV files a lot better than most other competitors, which is a big plus for me.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I think when I do a broadcast to send out an email, the four-step setup can be confusing, especially the last step where you decide to send now or schedule. It makes you feel like if you don't change something, your email will go out scheduled without you knowing. I'd like that last page to make it more clear that you can leave it for later, and it won't automatically schedule your email.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io to organize the emails I send to customers. It adjusts CSV files easily, saving time compared to competitors.

 ### 27. Intuitive Flow Builders Make Complex Journeys Easy, Though Feature Depth Can Be Overwhelming

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rylan C. | Growth Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The interface and flow builders are super intuitive, and the ability to copy/move flows between different workspaces has meant that it has been quick and easy to build out complicated journeys across different products internally. The onboarding and customer support were great through the pre and post-sales process.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I can't think of any initially, possibly just the sheer scale of features makes it a little difficult to know where to start. We are also dealing with 5+ different data sources, so getting those in has proven tricky - this is more a symptom of tech stacks though rather than the platform.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously had fragmented views of data and of how that could be translated into actions, whether it be through comms or analysis of how customers were interacting with our products. Customer.io brings those together under one roof.

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The platform’s metrics, the design studio, and the versatility of the way it works.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Its very heavy to load the pages of the differents sections.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We weren’t able to view our customers’ behavior before, so this platform is helping us better understand how we connect with them and what they need.

 ### 29. Customer.io Makes Behavior-Based Campaigns Easy with Clear Performance Insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yaroslav L. | CEO, E-Learning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 20, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that Customer.io makes it easy to set up targeted, behavior‑based campaigns and gives clear insights into how messages perform, all in one clean interface.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Sometimes the interface feels a bit complex for beginners, and the learning curve can be steep if you’re not already familiar with automation tools.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps us automate personalized messaging based on user behavior, which saves time and improves engagement. As a result, we see higher conversion rates and more consistent communication without manual effort.

 ### 30. Effortless User Communication and Conversion with CustomerIO

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ajay J. | Head of Growth Marketing, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The best thing about using CustomerIO is the way we’ve simplified communication with our users. We don’t need to manually answer to them, we’ve setup different campaigns for transactional emails. Plus, we’re able to convert a lot of users into paying customers through our email marketing campaigns.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

There isn’t something to dislike about CustomerIO, per se. We’re loving the experience so far. It’s actually getting better as we get used to the platform and discover new things and features.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it for all things email marketing. If I’ve to list, these are things I use CustomerIO for:
- email marketing sequences
- weekly newsletters
- transactional emails
- lead nurturing campaigns
- audience segmentation and retargeting
- track app activity and segment users
- and more.

 ### 31. Continuous Growth, New Options, and Easy Integrations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Continuous growth and lots of new options each quarter, with opportunities for personalization and easy integration with many tools.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

There aren’t many analytics options. Maybe that will change now that AI is available inside, but up to now it has been very limited unless you have a data warehouse.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the challenges Customer.io is helping me with is having options to quickly connect it to different tools, use them to their full potential, and ensure a better customer experience.

 ### 32. One of the best ways to send journey emails to customers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew H. | Lead Software Developer, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io is very powerful and intuitive for designing email campaigns for users from a beginning welcome series to sending out one off transactional emails based on various conditions. Customer.io definitely excels in making it easy to track and use attributes assigned to customers. In addition any time I've had any issues their customer support is top notch.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It can be somewhat expensive for a smaller company that doesn't send out a large volume of emails. The pricing is determined by the number of customers you have, which I find less than ideal, since it feels like you're penalized for having more users, even if you aren't emailing all of them. They do recommend removing inactive or unresponsive users from customer.io, but managing this process is inconvenient, and you never know when you might want to contact those users again. While there are certainly ways to work around this, it still feels like a significant frustration and a kind of penalty for small, growing companies. It would make more sense to focus on the number of emails or notifications sent, rather than the size of your user base.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io is excellent for designing and sending email campaigns tailored to users' actions within our app. Additionally, it provides a convenient way to view all our users, and with the helpful attributes available, we can easily create groups or segments based on these characteristics.

 ### 33. Effortless Automation with Intuitive Setup, Needs More Filtering Options

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Oriya S.

**Reviewed Date:** February 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I really like how easy to read it is and how the workflow is super easy to manage, especially the segments. It was quite easy to set up and intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I don't like that people are filtered by email. I think that I should be able to filter it also by all of the other columns. When I go into people, I can filter by email address or conditions. So, I would like the people not to only show by email. I would like to also have it show on my campaigns and everything else by first name as well.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for automations, which helps me avoid manual tasks. It makes workflows easy to manage and reading it is straightforward.

 ### 34. CIO is becoming the forcing function at my end

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sneha D. | Lifecycle Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

CIO has been evolving quickly and intuitively, effectively becoming the forcing function at our end to catch up. The visual workflow builders, AI automations and the granular control the platform has been giving over complex journeys and campaigns is unmatched. I've been using the tool for 2+ years now and I’ve never had any complaints. Beyond everything, as a marketer, I think the company as a brand does amazing work - it applies B2C principles of communication seamlessly to an otherwise boring B2B category. It's been a pleasure.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

If the platform help with data hygiene and there was more control over segmenting beyond the two set identifiers, it would make a world of difference.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As an organization, we've moved from Pardot into Customer.io so I have been able to better tailor our messaging and automate more of our processes. It's made a huge difference in how we engage with our audience as we can create more personalized campaigns, track customer behavior, and really dive deep into segmentation. The flexibility and ease of use have made my job much easier, and it's helping us connect with our users in a more meaningful way, which has led to better engagement and results. The fact that it isn't as tedious-seeming as SalesForce makes the overall experience quite pleasant.

 ### 35. Easy and gets the job done.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Customer.io does the job. Simple segmentation, easy UI for building emails, basic reporting and analytics, and fast support.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

In-product features are not as robust. For example, when building campaigns, it's difficult to branch off paths from different behaviors. And when building segments, sometimes I have to create multiple segments and combine in a master segment instead of building in one. Lastly, our support level was downgraded from having a team of CSMs to only support.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am able to execute my day to day lifecycle campaigns.

 ### 36. Powerful Tool, Needs Simplification for New Users

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rishi P.

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I find Customer.io to be a very powerful messaging platform that helps me trigger messages based on real user behavior. It interacts well with modern data stacks, which is a huge plus. The initial setup process is straightforward; I can easily create a workspace, set up messaging channels, add people, and send messages in a short period of time. It manages all my customer details efficiently and allows me to access them easily.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The platform can be made a little simpler for those who don't come from a technical background, as they may face problems.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io helps me manage all my customer details easily. It is a powerful messaging platform that triggers messages based on real user behavior and integrates well with modern data stacks.

 ### 37. Intuitive Tool for Multichannel Communications

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mathias M.

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I have been using Customer.io for a year and a half in two different jobs. I find it to be a super intuitive tool for managing multichannel communications like email, in-app notifications, push notifications, SMS, and webhook. I love that it allows you to create communication flows that integrate well with user actions and our communications. This helps to be more precise in contacting leads and customers. Additionally, it offers detailed metrics of the sends. Its user-friendly interface makes the complex seem easy and quick to understand, and the communication flows work quite well, greatly helping to automate sends.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The design studio still has room for improvement, especially because it does not allow for quick replication of content blocks, like copying and pasting between different emails. Currently, the same block must be manually constructed in each email. Additionally, I would like the uploaded images to be compressed and the preheader setup in campaigns to be improved. Also, the initial setup took time and a full-time developer, which still causes some issues, especially in the setup of push notifications.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io as an intuitive tool to manage multichannel communications. It allows you to create flows that integrate user actions with our communications, helping to be precise. Additionally, it provides detailed metrics on deliveries, which facilitates the automation of campaigns.

 ### 38. Customer.io Campaigns and Broadcasts Shine

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Darshan K. | Data Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like everything on customer.io but most i like is campaigns and broadcasts.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Sometime UI UX not responding as it should be also api response is slow

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reaching out to the customer in every way is good part and due to that we can work on churn

 ### 39. Outstanding Support and Flexibility, Though Learning Curve Exists

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos C. | Emperor of design, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

The platform offers impressive flexibility, and the customer support truly stands out as among the best in the industry. They genuinely care about user feedback and actively work on implementing requested features. The documentation is not only beautifully presented but also remarkably thorough, covering even highly specific topics.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I find the platform is probably not as intuitive as it could be, especially since I sometimes see my coworkers struggling with certain aspects. However, I believe this may just be a matter of how much time one has spent using it. I still have a lot to learn myself, but overall, I think the platform is absolutely fantastic.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Delivering transactional messages securely, automating time-consuming processes, and maintaining our presence in the minds of clients and prospects are, in my opinion, some of the strongest advantages.

 ### 40. Clear Workflow and Helpful Support, but Imports Feel Clunky

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Good data exports for insights, and the workflow overview is clear. Help is quick when I need it, and the AI bot seems fine as well.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The import file system seems a bit strange to me. It requires separate event files and customer files, and it could be much easier and more straightforward.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It’s easy to set up automated emails, and it’s helpful to be able to see the delivery rate. It also works well for different languages, and the SMS feature performs reliably.

 ### 41. Powerful Email Marketing & Analytics, but Pricing Feels High for Startups

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hiro J. | Technical Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 08, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Email Marketing, Campaign, Branding, Data Analytics

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It's too costly which is not effortable for all the startups also if they can reduce charge for separate workspace

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Increase in conversion and reachout customers for providing the proper thigs to explain

 ### 42. Constant product upgrades and really helpful CSM and support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Constant upgrading
CSM really helpful
Cool campaign builder
Easy integrations with Social Media

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Sometimes it's slow
Don't like that much the many agents and AI features
Some custom events don't have that much information in segementation
User data dissapearing every 30 days

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Desgin studio - really helpful and a better way of working
Changes in triggers and updates in campaigns - being able to change your mind amist building a campaign
Copying between workspaces - a really time saving feature

 ### 43. Great UI and Easy Hightouch Connections, but Data Search and MCP Need Work

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

i like the ui and how we can use hightouch to connect to it

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

the data search tools and mcp could be better

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

how to send emails to customers which we need to do throughout the business

 ### 44. Powerful Automation with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** mali d. | Sr. account executive , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like how powerful and flexible the automation system in Customer.io is. The workflow builder makes designing customer journeys incredibly easy, whether they are simple drip sequences or complex, multi-step flows. Everything is visual, logical, and easy to adjust. Once a workflow is created, the system handles everything automatically, so I don't have to manually send anything or track who needs what. The initial setup was fairly smooth and straightforward, with clear documentation that guides you through the basics like connecting your data source and setting up events. After mapping the events and attributes correctly, building the first workflow and sending test messages was simple.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The learning curve can be steep. Because the platform is so flexible, it can take time for new users to understand all the features, especially advanced workflow logic and segmentation rules. Reporting could be deeper. The analytics are good for basic insights, but more detailed reporting—like journey-level analytics, funnel views, and cross-campaign comparisons—would make optimization easier. Visual builder sometimes feels crowded. When a workflow becomes large with many branches, the visual layout can get cluttered and harder to navigate. Testing complex flows is challenging. Testing multi-branch journeys or event-triggered steps can require extra effort, and sometimes the test results aren’t as clear as they could be. One area that could further enhance the platform is more real-time validation and previews inside the workflow builder.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io for automating communication, reducing manual follow-ups, sending personalized messages, and managing all messaging in one place. It's improved customer engagement, increased conversion rates, and the automation handles everything once a workflow is created, freeing me from manual tasks.

 ### 45. Great for broadcasts, newsletters, and automation

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rajesh S. | SEO Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

We use Customer.io for email broadcasts, marketing emails, and newsletters. We’ve also tried Mailchimp before, but with a list of around 50k emails, Customer.io handles everything smoothly and does a great job. I also really like the new Email Content Analysis and Design Studio features, they make it much easier to build emails and quickly check subject lines and content before sending. Both have been very useful for me in day-to-day campaigns.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

The only thing I’d like to see improved is the limited font options. It would be great if we could use our website’s font set directly in email campaigns for better brand consistency.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Customer.io mainly for automating lifecycle emails. Instead of manually sending welcome and thank-you messages, everything is set up to run in the background. It’s made our communication more consistent and helps move users through the funnel faster.

 ### 46. Solid Targeting Features, But Lacks User-Friendliness

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nima J.

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I like that Customer.io is good for targeting and specific niche marketing, which is helpful for my email marketing needs. I also appreciate the offers it provides for startups, which I find very wonderful and helpful. It's great that these offers allow customers with a setup to use it without spending a lot and attract lots of loyal customers.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

It's being advertised that there's no need for knowledge of HTML or coding, but when you try to create an email, the platform isn't that user-friendly. The whole platform of Customer.io is not as user-friendly as it should be. The initial setup was not that easy.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io is good for targeting and specific niche marketing with useful offers for startups.

 ### 47. Easy Segmentation and Workflow Building

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma M. | Sr Lifecycle Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

Ease of segmentation and workflow building

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

Can be difficult to incorporate multiple segments and events when filtering. Also, would be nice to be able to have an easy way to upload code for emails

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helps to send comms and workflows to targeted personas

 ### 48. Seamless Email Marketing with Powerful Design Tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kelly R. | sr product manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love using Customer.io for our email marketing campaigns in the B2B service space, especially because its Design Studio is incredibly user-friendly and allows for a great deal of customization with design and animations, making our emails more engaging. Despite not being an email marketer, I find it simple to navigate and when I encounter any challenges, the help articles are just a search away. I really appreciate the quick view dashboards, which provide immediate insights into engagement metrics, such as click rates and undelivered emails, helping me easily report progress to my team leaders. The initial setup was simple, and it integrates seamlessly with other tools like Slack, which enhances our workflow by sending notifications when specific actions occur on our UI. Customer.io's simplicity, combined with its robust features like Design Studio, the ease of accessing help, real-time engagement insights, and integration capabilities, makes it an indispensable tool in our marketing strategy. Having used it at a previous company as well and seeing consistent positive outcomes only solidifies my confidence in it, making me rate it a 10 out of 10 and wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I experienced issues with Customer.io regarding nested JSON objects. Initially, we included nested JSON in our data attributes, but we had to alter this approach because we were unable to create segments or utilize those nested objects in Liquid within emails.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Customer.io's Design Studio to create engaging campaigns that encourage user action, and its ease of use and support helps me as a Product Manager. The quick view dashboards allow me to track engagement and report progress efficiently.

 ### 49. Customer.io Makes Personalization and Compliance Document Storage Effortless

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kendall P. | Marketing Director, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2026

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I love how Customer.io has the ability to change the interface of a website based on what your needs are. I also love how it stores important compliance documents for your company.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I have not run into any downsides yet. Customer.io is very easy to use.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io keeps in mind the disabilities your users might have. It makes your website very easy to navigate for anyone using it.

 ### 50. One of the best Marketing Automation tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Artur W. | Marketing Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 11, 2023

**What do you like best about Customer.io?**

I've been a loyal Customer.io user for several years now, and I continue to be impressed with their service. Recently, Customer.io proactively reached out to me and offered to upgrade my plan from "Legacy" to "Premium" - and amazingly, despite getting access to more advanced features, I'm now paying 30% less! I really respect them for this customer-first approach.

I'm particularly impressed with their Customer Data Platform solution, which allows seamless integration of various data sources into the CRM. This makes it incredibly easy to add new customers, generate events, and manage data flows. It's an excellent solution for technical marketing teams who want to maintain independence without constantly relying on IT resources.

**What do you dislike about Customer.io?**

I'm looking forward to seeing continued development of the CDP capabilities. Specifically, Customer.io should consider adding device synchronization features - the ability to add, modify, and manage user devices would be a valuable enhancement to the platform.

**What problems is Customer.io solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer.io allows us to conduct communication in multiple channels: email / push / SMS. Thanks to the advanced features of this service, we can run Marketing Automation scenarios in the organization, such as: dynamic product recommendations, sending communications depending on user behavior and parameters, or special paths triggered by the backend of our service. If your company is data driven and you'd like to take advantage of that, customer.io is one of those tools that will allow you to get the most out of your data.
