In 2024, I still feel frustrated that there is no good app for making lists and notes. I have used Keep, Microsoft ToDo, ToDoIst, and more. Yet, Checklist is my favourite.
My business largely involves writing, at any given moment I am dealing with multiple word, google doc, and various other text files. Same is the case with notes.
My use case requires taking in data on phone as well as laptops. Along with that I have to share the information with other, collaborating in real-time.
As a Android user, Google Keep comes by default. But, it doesn't have a desktop app, and the web interface is way to heavy for intense writing.
On the other hand, checklist is available on Android and iOS, but also as a very lightweight minimal web app that can be implemented and used easily. It just gets the job done. No fancy tools and animations, just simple yet solid features that get the job done properly.
Due to my heavy note making, the template feature, which is quite simple, yet extremely robust, allows me to create default templates, that can be quickly converted into full blown notes, saving me a lot of time in my daily use.
The search is brilliant. I fail to understand how Google, the company that runs the world's largest search engine, fails to properly implement search in Google Keep. Checklist allows me to use filters and various parameters to find the right notes out of the 200+ notes that I might be using anytime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As I mentioned, it does a lot of good things, and its a feature driven service. This means, that they don't put much attention in graphics, UI, accessibility, and customer support. This app is in a desperate need of a repaint, to make it look modern. Tools can be made more easy to find, and overall just more usability would make it the perfect tool.
