The cloud based model allows for accessibility. **What do you dislike about Accela?** The software feels outdated. Lacks the functionality provide by tools today. Accela suggests training, whichs nt efficient. It is better to involve a party for implementation. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** By providing an all solution that meets our business requirements effectively. This has benefited our business by reducing work minimizing errors and ultimately saving time. With Accela, on board we have witnessed productivity and improved customer service. ### 2. While upgrades are scheduled by Accela, the cloud-based model provides convenience. **What do you dislike about Accela?** It is more beneficial to have training before the go-live date. The online community is helpful there are uncertainties regarding its ability to solve issues. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** It avoids delays that previously caused setbacks. The software is user friendly enabling our team to navigate. They always provide assistance, in resolving any issues. ### 4. Pictures can be uploaded and I can add myself as a follower on various cases to keep up with progress. **What do you dislike about Accela?** There is no way to import things into a spreadsheet for tracking. There is no way to search via the address of the complaint, or the inspector's name, only the actual complaint number, which not everyone holds on to. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** Accela was a great tracking tool at first however the technology has grown so much over the years it seems they need to refresh the software in order to offer the various tools other software tools now offer. ### 5. Accela Licensing Software **Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018 **What do you like best about Accela?** Upgraded UI was user friendly, advanced ad-hoc capabilities within the system. **What do you dislike about Accela?** My dislikes may be correlated around the project management approach more than the system in its self. Accela team announced a system upgrade with a new UI, look/feel features (more enhanced and FAR BETTER than the version we were working with), however, this was announced post UAT, User training, and two days before go-live. Additionally, post go-live was a rough start with the amount of bugs that made it through the cracks. The existing system functionality was robust, however, it could be more flexible. **Recommendations to others considering Accela:** If the system meets your business needs, it is a great system with impressive functionality to leverage. Make sure to map out your current business processes, understand the requirements and what you're looking for - validate those requirements against best practices and how Accela meets your needs prior to moving into the direction of implementing the system. The less customization, the better - and this goes for any system. It's easy to be blown away by the bells and whistles, focus on the core functionality to analyze if it meets your needs. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** Since the project was a government funded initiative and I came to the project phase 2 I am not certain on the initial business problems, but some of the benefits I can speak to are - 1. Customer facing UI helped with labor efficiencies as peak licensing period resulted in hiring several temps/over-time. Less overtime was worked and the company was able to avoid head-count by hiring additional temps. 2. Turnaround time for licensing/status update - provided an electronic/easy way for customer to receive their licensing on spot (when inspection not necessary). This was a huge issue addressed by customers that was resolved. 3. Reporting Capabilities/Audit Trails that could be better leveraged ### 8. It is packed with information . **What do you dislike about Accela?** Non instructional. No clear definition of the functions. Always a breakdown. Not user friendly at times. **Recommendations to others considering Accela:** Test the product entirely to see if it fits all needs and get class information to assist with instruction. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** Solving the building permit process. For example, I want to be able to access the accounting invoice of food facilities while in ECR. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use this software for health inspections (to write up reports for inspections conducted at restaurants, apartments and swimming pools). ### 11. Environmental Solutions like the use of more natural resources is the greatest thing. The company also takes time for getting to any solutions. **What problems is Accela solving and how is that benefiting you?** Use of More Natural Resource of Sunlight. The solar-powered water heaters and cookers are being used. One benefit is that the products used are of best quality and great efficiency. ### 13. Almost any task that can have a workflow can be set up in this system **What do you dislike about Accela?** Their primary model is cloud based, which takes away some control of the system. For example, upgrades occur on Accela's schedule, unless you can demonstrate that the upgrade will cause a major issue. The system can be hosted on premise, which would allow you to upgrade as appropriate for you environment. I also feel that hosting on premise is more cost effective. **Recommendations to others considering Accela:** Plan on 1-2 years from start of project to go live. Perform training as close to go live as possible, do not do it months in advance as Accela tends to recommend. Consider using a third party implementation, rather than Accela doing the implementation.
