I find Zulip to be an excellent communication platform for teams, as it allows organizing searchable discussions instead of fast-moving chat. Its topic-based structure and open-source flexibility make Zulip stand out compared to other messaging apps. I also appreciate its powerful search tool, customizable notifications, message filters, and the unlimited conversation history, which I find truly wonderful. I find the streams and topic systems can be confusing for users who are used to simpler chat apps like Slack or Discord. Also, the mobile experience and notifications can be inconsistent or lacking certain desktop features. Additionally, there is a learning curve with Zulip that can be a bit difficult.
