I feel using Mattermost in the office is exactly like using WhatsApp, it’s so easy to use. I use the Mac version of Mattermost, so whenever someone messages me, the app icon bounces and gives me a hint with a notification sound, which is very useful. And yes, it’s also a bit addictive. Sometimes, finding a group or a person in the long list becomes difficult. I remember seeing some onboarding screens that explain Mattermost shortcuts, but I haven’t been able to find them again. After the latest update, the option to use a GIF as a profile picture also seems to be hidden, it’s quite hard to locate now. Files above 15 MB can’t be shared on Mattermost, and there’s also an issue with SVGs. I have to zip the file first, otherwise Mattermost doesn’t show it as a downloadable asset. I appreciate Mattermost for its easy-to-use interface and the ability to create different channels for different teams within the company. The constant code formatting is my biggest pain point. I'm sharing SQL queries, Python scripts, and config files all day with data scientists and engineers.
