Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Xcode for its seamless integration with the Apple ecosystem, which simplifies the development process for iOS and macOS applications. The all-in-one environment, featuring tools like the simulator and debugging capabilities, enhances productivity and streamlines workflows. However, many note that it can be resource-intensive, leading to slow performance on larger projects.

"Paintful but necessary"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Interface Builder is the best part of Xcode, I use other IDEs and the UI Editor is one the best for me. I hope that the rest of components of Xcode grow up according this area.

The simulator is also a good part of the ecosystem, especially if we compare with the android :P. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

The IDE don't have a powerful toolset that are present in other IDEs (such visual studio), there's no decent refactor tools, or syntax helpers, plugins... I hope that the next version improve on these aspects. The compiler and the new Swift language brings the opportunity to attract more and more users, we have to take advantage of it. "Xcode autocomplete"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The autocomplete functionality of Xcode is great - I love have the standard library be embedded in the IDE. This tends to happen when using a text editor that is specific to one or just a few languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

File structuring is horrible within Xcode - if I have a file with a ton of digital assets, sometimes it's easier to use the terminal to organize my files (or just use Finder). As soon as you make a change on Finder, Xcode is thrown for a loop and gets confused. It causes massive headaches. Autolayout also leaves a lot to be desired - the way you build an interface may not run as expected on the simulator or on a real device. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The only yet the best IDE for writing apps for Apply ecosystem"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Everything. It has got all the tools and cool stuff you need as a developer to craft, test, debug, and ship your apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

I wish Xcode had integrated console just like Android Studio and other IDEs have. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Nice tool but it needs to be light weight"
What do you like best about Xcode?

- The User Interface (specially dark theme)

- It is an intelligent development tool.

- I eagerly wait for a new release of a tool as they most of the time come up with new feature which I like the most. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

It is an intelligent development tool, but Gradually, it consumes more memory. At the end, it leads to system up-gradation. The system sometimes doesn't respond while launching a simulator. Even with 8 GB system RAM, we could not get the best experience while development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast Reliable but Poor Design."
What do you like best about Xcode?

I have been developing iOS app from last 3 years.Xcode is very reliable and fast tool to make iOS apps. Its easy to make designs of the apps using SwiftUI (new framwork). Swift programming is also very easy to learn.Thing I don't like about Xcode is It’s a little complex to use new users and Storyboard Sucks compare to android xml. Overall nice experince and Very Nice tool by Apple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Storyboard is very bad compare to android xml.Besic thing are missing like dropdown, wrap content (like android) emulator is not as fast as android studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The only way to develop for iOS"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Overall it is a nice IDE. The debug tools are are getting better after every release and Interface builder is pretty slick for creating responsive layouts. Refactoring swift code isn't great yet, but the suggestions and auto fixing for common warnings and errors is pretty nice.

There is a great REPL mode called "playground" for swift code that lets you code live and tryout different features of the language.

The Debugging tool are pretty on par with Visual Studio. This includes variable watch windows as well as thread and stack windows.

There are also tools that allow you to profile memory, and CPU performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Have experienced IDE crashes many times. Still can't fully refactor swift . One time my project file got corrupted and I needed to create a brand new project. The code was all still there, but I needed to create a project and import code and storyboard files.

The emulator is pretty good. However, it can't do everything. For example you can't make test purchases or test the Metal API with the emulator. So if you are building an app that will take payments, or building a game, you will need physical devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Framework for the IOS application development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

The Xcode framework normally used for the ios application development purpose. With this framework, we can create easily any type of IOS application that supported the macOS operating system like iPadOS, and tvOS. I developed one of the IOS applications by using the tool and I found that the tool is very robust.. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Every good thing has some minor area which needs improvement. This tool should be worked on debugging functionality simple to make it easy sometimes in case of any failure the debugger halt in the middle of the development, so it is quite hectic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy tool to create iOS UI and the app development"
What do you like best about Xcode?

Xcode has a great UI and there are lots of tutorials to follow to learn coding with xcode. The most important factor is that xcode is easy to use and it is far more speed than the android studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Sometimes xcode crashes which is a great problem while working with app development. Also to be a developer and app tester for number of devices, we need to buy the developer acount which cost more for a startup developer or student. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Improving day by day"
What do you like best about Xcode?

As an iOS Developer, XCode is a must in my development process. I've been using it since 2014 and it has been improving ever since. New functionalities such as live/hot reloading or playgrounds for Swift and updates to optimize the tests runs have been very important for the XCode community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Xcode?

Rather than least helpful I feel like there are a ton of tools that I'm not aware of. Many of the debugging tools have endless configurations or features that might be a little tricky and I advice to look some tutorials online to maximize the productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
