No IDE is as stupid or useless like Xcode. **What do you dislike about Xcode?** * Intelligence is not at all good. * I have used VisualStudio, AndroidStudio, Eclipse etc and haven't seen such a poor IDE in my life. * Nothing is easier. Probably it will be easy as we get use to it but one gets attracted only when it is good at first instance. **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** Everything is problem in xcode. It is not jumping to the defination. Not userfriendly at all. ### 2. I do like the fact that we get a ton of drivers with xcode which helps in various other tasks like video conversion, cpp compilation and other few important tasks but that's the extent of its usage. Nothing more. **What do you dislike about Xcode?** Firstly its is a super huge application. Freezes my Macbook Pro. Needs to download additional components even after an 8-10gb download. Startup time is very poor. No good feature as an IDE. You definitely cannot use the app as an ide. It's too painful. It lacks an array of features which other IDE's have so no reason in using this. **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** I had to download it once to get some drivers which are not available on mac os by default and that's it. ### 3. Also, I love the fact that Xcode gives the ability to use simulators to test the code that write. **What do you dislike about Xcode?** I dislike how this app seems to have a lot of bugs. Meaning there are regularly issues with usability. When I’m writing code and trying to run tests, it get extremely frustrating when the app crashes and I’m forced to retype some of my work and sections of code that gets lost. **Recommendations to others considering Xcode:** Be very patient. The app can be difficult to use overall due to semi regular app crashes, it tends to be quite problematic in that sense, yet it’s one of only options out there for iOS developers to use. Though, once you get used to the quirks, using Xcode ends up being a very beneficial tool. **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problems I’m solving would be that I need to build Apps, and xcode allows me to do that. The major benefit of using this app is that when all is going well, Xcode is extremely easy to use and navigate. This does save time when trying to get code written. ### 4. It also makes dependency management more reliable using Pods. **What do you dislike about Xcode?** Nothing is labelled, the error messages are cryptic, and there seems to be no logical placement for features in the menus/toolbars **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Code to build React Native projects for iOS. It has helped make our iOS build more reliable. ### 5. It is hard to navigate and the documentation on the program is unclear. **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** Multiple class assignments and multipage apps. With the doc pane open, I get the docs for anything that I highlight. **What do you dislike about Xcode?** Just about everything else. Xcode is buggy and crashes all the time. Every upgrade means that they disable all of the plugins that make Xcode almost a usable editor and my productivity in Xcode is terrible compared to the other editors that I use like Vim and Atom. Apple forces you into Xcode if you want to write Obj-C or Swift based applications rather than supporting a developers choice to use tools that make them more productive. **Recommendations to others considering Xcode:** If you don't have to use it, don't use it. **What problems is Xcode solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have been contracted to write a number of iOS applications in Swift. Unfortunately, Xcode is the only IDE that I can do that in. ### 8. Very disappointing for an Apple product. **Recommendations to others considering Xcode:** Make sure your machine is using current software and has at least 8GB RAM.
