What do you like best about Voxco Survey Platform?
There's not a single redeeming feature about the Voxco platform, not one, which is an accomplishment in its own right I guess..
I started my days, as I'm sure many did, on SurveyCraft before moving to Nebu, a little ConfirmIT, Askia, Qualtrics, SurveyGizmo (Alchemer now I believe), Web Survey Creator and even the open source package LimeSurvey. What do you dislike about Voxco Survey Platform?
The interface is bad, it takes longer to script than necessary costing your business money in more hours of scripting (and, over the course of a week, I mean hours). It also doesn't enable scripting review with any ease by conditions being hidden and needing to go through several menus to see (all that load slowly) so scripting review takes longer, costing you money. The interface also doesn't guide the user and will gleefully allow you to enter code that does not work, meaning more time testing, and, even then, will work in testing but not for, say, thirty percent of fieldwork, again costing you money in recontacts or replacements.
So you'll be in contact with support a lot. Which is also a shame as they take a very long time to respond and can be quite condescending. A particularly recent example is where I'd scripted some conditions to set a hidden variable, something I've done numerous times in my career as a spec. writer and I did it in the same format as I've done in every package listed above. I tested it several times as I simply cannot trust the platform to do what it's instructed to do and it worked fine on every single test. Come fieldwork though I'm missing data for about twenty percent of my respondents, on querying this with support, flagged as urgent, after two days I was told "your code would never work", which, hang on mate, it does for the majority of the respondents and all the time I (seemingly) wasted testing, but the platform just decides to behave differently in some circumstances, which is maddening, we're talking programming here, same input in should equal same output out, but for some reason with Voxco, it does not.
Good platforms will not let you set-up something in the interface that doesn't work, I appreciate if I'm doing complex DOM manipulations in JavaScript things may go awry, mea culpa, but, selecting items from a drop down list in the UI, which work when tested, should never then function differently, especially when you're following the documentation from their support site (which is incomplete in many places, outdated in a few and plain wrong in others - you will also be insulted by support when you query why the documentation is wrong and then receive absolutely no response at all when you point out the omissions and how their own platform actually works).
That is if you get a reply from support at all, I have several tickets with no reply, I send follow up queries that seem to disappear in to the same black hole.
And occasionally the platform will straight up lose data. It may be a single random data point on a user, it may be half their survey (it could even be entire surveys, on an open link, we'd have no way of identifying what was lost). Support have never been able to explain it, the responses with get back are literary equivalent of a shrug - never in my career have I lost data until I worked with Voxco.
I do hate these ranty 1 star reviews, as the person writing it always comes off a little unhinged, so when reading reviews myself I usually skip them, but, I can't help but try to explain the living nightmare Voxco has made my life and the frustrations that have driven me to sound like one of the loons I usually ignore, so, dear reader, I thank you if you've made it this far and implore you to use something else entirely. If you're a manager looking to purchase a platform for their team, I would say you're failing your duty of care for your employee's mental well-being by inflicting this product upon them.
