We have been using Vinchin Backup and Recovery for the last 3 years for VM backups and MySQL backups. For VM backups, we use it with the XCP-NG hypervisor to take backup of 450 VMs in a week, and it has been very efficient and fast. For MySQL backups, we received customized support from the Vinchin team; they worked with us to support our older MySQL version 5.7 on Ubuntu 18.0. We faced issues with our MySQL backup and had to do regular follow-ups with the Vinchin team to resolve version-related problems, specifically support for MySQL 5.7 on Ubuntu 18, MySQL 8.0 on Ubuntu 20, and later Ubuntu 22, and now Ubuntu 24. What I like most is its simplicity in deployment. It only took us about 2 hours to deploy and start doing backups for our POC. The setup was very simple and the whole process was seamless. So far everything has been working well for me. The one thing I'd like to see added is AI backup monitoring, mainly for capacity forecasting. It would be great if it could predict when storage capacity will be full, based on the parameters I set. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

While Vinchin offers strong capabilities, there are a few areas where improvements can be considered: limited market awareness and ecosystem, smaller partner & support network in the UAE, UI/UX can be improved, limited advanced features compared to top competitors, issues with documentation and knowledge base, scalability perception in large enterprises, and no option for multi-tenancy and tenant-based license assignment for backup as a service solution. The log information isn’t very informative. When an error occurs during backup or restore, I can’t debug the issue or find a solution because the logs don’t provide enough detail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like the backup and replication features available in Vinchin Backup & Recovery. It's a competitive product in the market, and I find the features that it has with the big backup champions like Veeam. As part of business continuity, I need to replicate our data to our data center, and Vinchin enables me to do this seamlessly.
