Infuriating experience. Misleading Advertising. Although I will say that the Website is easy to use **What do you dislike about Teladoc?** Firstly, their Website conveys the messaging that doctors can prescribe certain types of medications, at the individual doctor’s discretion. That would be reasonable, if true! However, in reality, doctor’s are prohibited from writing prescriptions for certain types of drugs. In my case, this was for a sedative-hypnotic (Ambien or Lunesta) for extreme insomnia (3 nights of absolutely zero sleep). The doctor told me, in unambiguously terms, that’s he’s not even permitted to enter such types of drugs in the system. So, why does the Website infer the contrary in a misleading manner? Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, I got the “Terms and Conditions” thrown in my face – metaphorically speaking – when I politely request a refund. Of course, I signed up for TelaDoc in a state of near-delirium owing to the emergency situation of needing a sleep-aid and knowing that seeing a real doctor in-person would take too long. I question – and vehemently oppose – the practice of requiring cognitively-impaired individuals to sign a binding legal document. I imagine that a non-trivial percentage of TelaDoc’s “patients” are in such a state of urgency and with cognitive impairments. I submit that such a practice is predatory, and grounds for a class action suit. **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's not resolving any problems, but it did mange to create some. ### 2. When I spoke with a doctor, he said that's not true, they cannot prescribe it. I asked for a refund and they said that they don't give refunds and I should have known that they were lying before the call happened. They cited terms that I never actually saw or agreed to. **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** I had COVID and I was on vacation at the time not near an urgent care center, so I was looking to get a prescription sent in. ### 3. What they don't tell you is that it's more for an emergency service and they don't really give you more than a prescription that only last one round. I called teledoc for a prescription I have been taking for years but they didn't explain that they didn't give refills. They didn't explain anything at all! They are also more expensive than visiting a primary care doctor so while you think it saves you time and money, it really doesn't. Once you get a claim, which takes forever, and a prescription you can't refill it will end up costing more time and money by using Teledoc cause they did not really try to help solve your issue. Just put a quick bandaid on whatever you have and then charge you. They could have been more upfront about cost or explaining what teledoc is actually for, but they deceptively do not explain anything so people think it's could be a good service. But it's just another shady service out for your money and not you for your health. All the providers I have used for me or my family members have been able to help quickly and appropriately. We were able to get prescriptions quickly when needed. The option to send images ahead of time to the provider helped with diagnoses. The video call option is great to see and hear the doctor during the consultation. Our company offered Teladoc with no co-pay. You have 24/7 access to the system. **What do you dislike about Teladoc?** Sometimes there was a wait but it was not too long and you were notified of the approximate wait time and offered an option for a callback. **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** Teladoc costs less than an in-person office visit. No co-pay is required for our plan. Teladoc visits are more convenient and save time and gas compared to an in-person appointment. ### 5. Everything worked out from signing up, filling out paperwork and being seen. And, two days later, I'm still without my prescription. Not sure if this is training or systems integration, but it's been the worst experience while not feeling well. **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** Telehealth diagnosis based on symptoms. Speaking with a medical professional who's experienced in handling urgent care/emergency related health concerns. The diagnosis was helpful until I can see my primary care doc next month, however, it's only half way there if I'm spending hours trying to jump through hoops to get my actual prescription filled without paying out of pocket and hoping that the insurance company reimburses me down the road. Our healthcare system is so broken in the U.S. The Contact UX is also terrible. Nobody responds to service requests for a day and whoever responded seems to not read the initial request well or is unable to put the information together. So, then, submit another message that will then take another day to receive a response. Totally inefficient. ### 8. Now, if another member of my family or I need medical attention, I know that all we have to do is pull up Teledoc, and we will be able to video chat with a doctor right away, even in the middle of the night. We can work around our schedule, stay in the comfort of home if needed, and only pay a fraction of the price that we would have for a complete doctor's visit. We have taken care of our physical health as a family so much better with this convenience. **What do you dislike about Teladoc?** The only downside of Teledoc is that it doesn't provide everything that a complete doctors' visit would include because the doctor is on a screen. For example, if my child has an ear infection, Teledoc couldn't see into her ear, so that would be a situation where it would be better to go into a physical doctor's office. **Recommendations to others considering Teladoc:** If you are debating about using Teladoc, you need to try it once. You will not be disappointed. I finally convinced my husband to try it when he needed an antibiotic. He hung up with the doctor in about 5 minutes and said, "Wow, that was easy." **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** Teledoc has eased some of the pressure on the medical community right now by being able to quickly see patients without needing them to come into the office physically. ### 9. Not redeemable otherwise. **What do you dislike about Teladoc?** Doctors at teladoc cannot prescribe most medications. They will recommend a medication, say they can't prescribe it, and literally hang up on you. If you ask for a refund, they will point to a loophole in the fine print of their agreement to avoid giving you a refund. **Recommendations to others considering Teladoc:** AVOID AT ALL COSTS **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** I needed a telehealth provider since I travel across the country and live in a different state every month. Teladoc actively prevents you from receiving medical care. The only difference between before and after my appointments are that they have my money that they scammed from me. ### 12. I've posted some photos showing a couple of the smaller bugs. The customer service is terrible. Because there is no technical support. And no management support. So the nice reps answering the phone can do absolutely nothing about technical problems. Email Support also does nothing about technical problems. It is unclear what happens next after filling out really robust paperwork online — which takes a lot time and is easy to get lost in. It never says like “you won’t need to speak to a doctor”. So the whole time I thought this was just paperwork to even make an appointment to see a physician. But rather, the doc was able to prescribe medicine without seeing me. I don’t know if this is always the case though. So really a UX overhaul would go a long way. Also a better integration with mobile devices would rock. Uploading photos from iPhone was challenge because they don’t support HEIC images. **What problems is Teladoc solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is faster than going to a doctor and probably cheaper. I called to see if we could get some antibiotics via video chat and "spoke" to a doctor for less than 2 minutes and was told to seek medical care. He never even looked at my daughter, asked to see her throat or anything and then charged us $45. I then had to take her to an urgent care and wait 4 hours, and pay another provider to get her tested to confirm, yep, she has strep. I called and spoke to customer service about this and they denied my request for a refund stating: "he put together a treatment plan for you to seek medical care." absolutely ridiculous. My company pays for it and the experience is seriously so bad. If you are in HR and are reviewing this product for your company, I'd look elsewhere. **What do you dislike about Teladoc?** Creating an appointment took nearly 30 minutes. The form asks about non relevant symptoms but makes the fields required. It makes you upload images but doesn't allow files taken from an iphone -- so they need to be converted to jpegs. Also I got to the end and there is a lot of weirdness about what address is on file. Worse though is I have no idea when I'm going to see a doctor. You go through all this to request an email from a doctor — and even that is two business days. They sell themselves as convenient healthcare of the future. I used the program once before and their video chat software was garbage then. The doctor had bad wifi connection too so he couldn't hear anything i was saying. I was literally shouting my symptoms at the computer — not fun if living in an apartment complex with thin walls. Also the video window is so so small.
